Ok. Im on my Secondary Grade Thesis and I need some help.
What I need from you guys is pretty simple, Id apresiate everyone to take 5 minutes to do this for me.
The Question is Pretty simple.. You, as a active player of Lineage 2 or any other MMORPG game, how do you feel? I mean.. Sometimes I have dreams that I am a char from the game. Sometimes I get confused of real life and say stupid things because I am thinking on the game. Sometimes I think how it would be If I was a real char, a sorceror for example on the real life or something dumb like that :P
I guess almost everyone have read the cases of the ppl that comite murderer irl becuz of the game.. Well that ussually is case where the ppl looses the line betwn real life and the game. That's something I need to know from you guys if that is the case.
All information will be useful, and please only answer with the true, this info will be important to me
Secondary grade? Either a bad translation or you're talking about D-grade... in which case, congratulations! ;)
What I feel when I'm playing L2? I feel that I'm not paying my girlfriend enough attention, however L2 is addictive and thankfully because she enjoys playing it too, I'm not gonna be suddenly PK'ed by her and left single. But I do need to pay her more attention :P
If I'm not playing L2 I don't think about it. I spend 2-3 hours a day playing and thinking about L2 and my working day (between tasks) posting on the forums. If I'm out with my gf, shopping, dining, socialising, L2 is the last thing on my mind.
L2 is a game. Real life is real life. Two different things.
I enjoy playing the game. It is an escape from the stress and grind of real life.
It's fun to pretend that you are something you're not and have all these great make-believe adventures. I play a lot. I think about the game a lot when I am planning for the next quest, grinding session, or which gear to get next.
I am guilty, as I think many of us are, of spending a little too much time on this activity. However, all my real-life responsibilities are taken care of and I am not neglecting my family in order to play.
If you're asking if the line between real life and the game world has ever gotten blurred for me, the answer is no.
I'm sorry, I'd love to reply, but I was advised by my attorney not to respond to this post. Something about "mens rea", "malice prepense" and a few other obscure terms that came up when I discussed how upset the incessant "buy adena" PM's made me.
I enjoy the sense of accomplishment and feedback. Sometimes I enjoy the solitude of solo, sometimes I enjoy the friends of my clan, sometimes I enjoy figuring out how to accomplish a difficult task successfuly (like subclass quest), and sometimes I enjoy the repetition and familiarity of our digitial world.
Sometimes, like when I subclassed or first finished the 3rd QQC, I feel really really, uhhh...frisky.
I've im PvPing im feeling excited.
When im grinding solo, im bored.
When im grinding with pt it depends, can feel like having fun when all goes well, or mad when the healer goes afk, like if we dont need him......
When im OE-ing, im nervous. When OE failed, im sad. When succeeded im happy.
But useally im spacing to much on the cannabis and fantasing about playing at end-game/grand line.
Frustration. Another 20000 varka mobs to finish my IC set ! Another 60 hour on this spot to get 78 finally! What a waste of time this game is... yet I still cant quit it (tried once but failed).
L2 is the last thing I'm thinking.. Get up in the morning, go to college, studies, friends, get back home, prepare for work, work, get back home again, shower, food and thant l2. If friday evening GO OUT and have some parties. I play litle more on saturday's because I feel tired to do smth. And on top of it, I'm quite cold nerves player. Nothing surprises me, and I dont pay attention to nothing too much.
For me, the world of L2 is a completely different world that I go to. When I log in, basically I block out my "real" life and my part in it and sometimes it's a welcome reprieve from the worries and appointments and relationships and all of that.
So how do I feel in L2? It's actually like a completely separate life that I enjoy, a whole different personality, and it is pretty much completely unattached to non-game life. The reactions and accomplishments, behavior, the interactions and relationships created, they can stay there in the game and are actually pretty removed. I like that, the anonymity I can have if I want.
Also, the experiences I have in the game, I learn from and I can take the end result out into my real life and use it, as well. That is pretty valuable to me. Sometimes a virtual world is a pretty good place to try things out before you try them in the hard copy :)
First I logg in.. Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT,Report BOT....And I am kind of ****** at NCwest.
Then after i have reported everyone In my area and killed the once that was to close to my xp area I am frustrated.
Say hi in clan chat and get alitle happier. xp abit and call for a group if I dont get a group I logg of and do other stuff.
I think L2 as a good effect on us, cause we are still here, putting our effort in lvling as fast as we can, doing some quests, the good ones, trying to chat with someone we dont know, but in time, we start to believe more in the group of persons, than most of our friends, which is weard, but true...
I know this is virtual life, that spends a lot of real time, but i cant give up... I think our personality will show up when we choose our toons to play with. As i like to help, i tend to doing toons like swordsinger or warcryer/overlord...
This fantasy word makes me wanna be a hero...and i will be!!
I killed my neighbor for a stack of pancakes I mistook as animal skins.
ROFL, that is possibly the funniest thing I have ever read on this board..My coworkers thought I had gone insane there for a minute when I started laughing hysterically for no apparent reason :) I love you
As to L2's affect on me? I'm reading and posting on L2 boards instead of doing the work I'm getting paid to do, how sad is that (I've gotten away with it so far though :-)
When I'm not excessively over bothered by work I feel... totally relaxed :).
If there are many people online i end up chatting more then leveling, but the leveling I do then is 10000 times more fun. Good company always makes up for the insidious grind.
I've yet to center on one class and level that to 75++ and sub so I don't identify myself with any of my characters... hope I'll be able to do that soon.
I enjoyed the game when I first started. But now it's almost like a job. It's becoming a chore to play. It is not as fun as it used to be. Having said that I do enjoy the new vitality system.
I was thinking one day about someone saying you can't take money and things with you when you die. This brings up L2. When you quit you can't take all those hard earned things ingame with you. Two to three years of grinding and running shops gone the day after quitting.
does anyone else use L2 as a virtual platform for spiritual meditation? used to do it all the time, back when grinding was less important than thinking about grinding. now it just puts me to sleep at night.
edit: i think the difference comes directly from the addition of mp pots dropping from mobs. back in the day, when you soloed a nuker, you would kill-kill-rest-repeat, now its kill-kill-kill-kill-pass out at keyboard. by giving everyone infinite mana (especially at low levels where people are trying to decide what playstyle they like!) i actually have a harder time getting xp becasue the game isnt naturally making me take a 3 minute break every 5 minutes. used to be, regenerating was when you got a bit more of a chance to talk to people in your party, find out where they came from and what they enjoy...now when parties are formed they need to be 100% effecient or people get crabby...gonna coin a new game term here. "flux": the number of transitions in player goals over a short period of time. so we used to have a "flux 2" game (xp and rest), now we have "flux 1" (xp). unless you are xping and reading forums, "flux 2".

Yes, actually. But only when I'm grinding, it gets so mindless and you can pretty much do it in your sleep (even if you're not a bot), so its great for meditating on the world and such.
I think I'm one of the wierdos that talks about l2 out of l2! Me and my fiancee and brother in law to be usually talk about our plans and our days on l2 when we get together. Then we usually move on to more irl usually, sometimes after a siege tho we jsut go ooooon and ooooon.
I go through stages in l2. Depending on whats going on is what i feel. If i am unhappy with my clan or w/e or the people around me im usually upset or stressed. If im happy i feel ... happy o.O. when grinding im usually bored or watching tv, pvp excited, enchanting nervous, blah blah. I used to get angry, when ppl pked me or i lost in pvp or i died to mobs, but i think ive grown up a little and i dont get upset anymore. Maybe i just got used to dieing o.o

I do the exact same thing with a guy at met at work that (by chance) also plays L2. Our significant others usually sit to the side making conversation and griping with each other about our addiction. :p
Confessional? Sometimes at night as I lay in bed next to my Wife, I talk to her about L2 and what plans I have regarding crafting, new leveling ideas or what I am trying to sell in my shop. :p
Yea agreed. This is a game... if it starts to seem more like work than fun then you need re-evaluate why it is you are playing. Also like a lot of things it can be good to take a break for a while and enjoy some of life's other offerings.
Sometimes I do get frustrated in game. Like when I can't get clannies to show up for events they ask for, officers not doing as I ask them, folks leave clan without a word and I'm left wondering what went wrong, etc etc. I think you get the idea. Running a clan at times can be just like a second job.
But most of the time I thoroughly enjoy the game and the friendships that I have developed over the years with folks. Some have even blended over into real life. And the folks in my clan/alliance? I can't ask for better personalities to be honest. They are *good* people, helpful to each other and others. I'm very lucky to have them.
However I don't talk about L2 much in real life because I get the "omg, she's a 'going on middle aged' chick who plays GAMES" stare and I'd prefer not to have that stare. LOL seriously. And when I'm at work, I think about work. My job is way too stressful and time consuming to think about anything else. On the car ride home though, I do admit to thinking about what needs to be done in game, whether it be obtaining clan skills or getting to that 75 level that just seems to be eluding me.
That will come in due time for us who feel this way. There just isn't much to do at the moment. In a couple/few months we will do what needs to be done to liven up our gaming experiences.

LMAO.. I do that to my better half & he just give's me a look like,
"are you ill?"
Lol
Or my older brother who plays WOW, ALWAYS compares WOW to Lineage, & tells me how much the game sucks & that I should drop it & come to his guild on WOW.
(Yet he's never played L2 & I've played WOW, so his argument is dead to me) :) Lol
