Simple question and i am wondering is it just Utah where Game time Cards are non existant for players like myself that don't use credit cards and don't want to have to get a credit card just to play a game for entertainment.
With a credit card i'd be to tempted to join the Ebayer club and i pride myself on being able to lvl with 1 acct 100% legit getting my gear either with help from my clan from the common drops or what i've bought on my own.
Promoting this game and getting more game time cards on the shelves for fellow players that use them I hope is more a priority for NCSOFT NA or have they decided to pull completely out of the North American Market?
So what do all of my fellow players think on this ? In best buy today 1/12/2009 they have the usual Cartoon network WOW games and time cards stacked up with at least 3 shelves and you are always able to find stuff for Everquest . For any NCSOFT game these days might as well get on your knees and pray before you go shopping if you want to find anything in the stores for our game. I should not be forced into using a credit card as an American just to play a online video game, this isn't a socialist country yet even though we did just recently elect a Socialist president for the next 4 yrs.
Nope, its not just you. I can't even find the 4th Anniversary game in stores anymore, and that's assuming that it was ever there to begin with. Game Stop, EB Games, etc..., none of them have it. It's just because it's over 4 years old, has a primarily Korean fan base, and never really caught on in the US.
Even in "the history of MMORPG" type articles and such you never hear about Lineage 1, which actually was the 2nd graphical MMO around, after UO. Lineage 1 was a HUGE success in Korea, but not so much in the US.
We're fading out for sure, but with a fan base like it has, it won't go away. We'll just be left to the numbers we have, with few, if any, new recruits.
Well in my opionion NCsoft has rly good product but dont know what to do with it. Instead of adding new lvl cap/continents/armors and so on they should focus huge update on what they already have.
mm hoping NC will start to fix things allready in game after the next update.
And to the poster, It has been that way for a very long time. It not like L2 has a giant playerbase in the US
i think L2 is a nice game anyways..
it released 2004, maybe a bit old. i think L2 should think about the way like wow, wow is a success MMORPG game, still popular..you know...
i dont wanna see L2 dying...i did love this game very much

My local GameStop has two 4th anniversary editions on the shelf as I type this. Unfortunately, it's the two that have been there for about two months, meaning they're not moving.
If your local stores aren't carrying them, let the manager know they're doing the community a disservice. If they say "Well, go play WoW" to you, smack them in the nose like you would a dog. Pick up a WoW box and rub their nose in it, if you must.
The fault is not 100% NCWest's. Yes, they can put more into advertising (and I hope their new advertising guru recognizes that), but it also falls on the stores to actually order the products.
I got kinda lucky in that the district rep was there the day I made a fuss about the lack of products at our local GameStop. Apparently, he had enough clout to get some ordered.

WoW's success wasn't purely because the game is good. In fact, that's a minor reason. It was a success because Blizzard has a humongous fan-base.

LOL @ Community Disservice?
That has to be one of the dumbest things I've heard.
GameStop/etc. is a business. They sell what people buy. If no one is buying Lineage II game boxes, they simply won't order any.
This happens for all games. Go and try to find the latest EverQuest (I) expansion in a GameStop. They don't have it, cause they don't order any. Not enough people buy them.
Stores like to spend money on things like WoW, that people buy in droves. That way they can maximize profit by selling in bulk.
Them not having any Lineage II boxes is not a community disservice. It's common sense on the part of the retailer. 1-2 people wanting a game (that you only have to buy once cause the updates are free) is not incentive to start ordering multiple boxes. You can always order it from the website, in most cases.
I'm a fanboy. In my eyes, it is a disservice. I didn't say it wasn't smart business, just that it was a disservice to the community. Not everyone wants to download the client. I for one enjoy having a physical copy of the disks in the event the hard drive takes a dump.
But then, I guess I'm a rare type these days (fanboy, preferring a physical copy, etc).
- Active Staff --------- 5-10 hours to get a petition answered. Very active.
- Devs hear the community ---------- That's why the most played (For obvious reasons) classes never change until new expansions.
- They really fight botting / RMT ----------- You just don't see the bots; they're in instances
- Good advertising ------------- I'll give you this one.

1) If that's happening.. that's now.. never had problems when I played it.
2) True.. but in the end they do satisfy the constant whiners.
3) Even so.. in a "10" million population.. the bot% is minimal.
1) L2 didn't have those problems when it first came out, either
2) Just how do they satisfy the whiners? By making a new group of them. Just like L2.
3) How would you know? They're hiding where you can't see them

NC should be using a Pull Strategy (where customer demands product which leads to retailer purchases stock from manufacturers) to make retailers order their products. But yea.... I doubt NC is using any Push (the traditional way) or Pull Strategy anyway =.=
I cant find game cards in any stores in my area, however I can find lineage II box sets in Gamestop, Best Buy, and Circuit City, even had a box in Target, but it vanished! Maybe someone bought it! :O
I would like to see some commercials like Wow.
You can just use your Debt Card to pay for lineage. The one that comes with your bank account is virtually free. If you don't have that your a little behind the times. Credit and banking is not socialist, its the quick way to go in a capitalist society. And btw I take offense to the Socialist president thing o.-
Yeah game cards and the like can be hard to find. It's poor marketing on NC's end. And everyone wonders why the starter areas are dead. The biggest marketing tool for L2 atm seems to be word-of-mouth.
And I'd have to agree with Wow-like commercials. If those can get me to trial WoW (blasphemy, I know) then they've got to work for L2. ^_^

1) In a game with 10 million subs 5-10 hours isn't that bad. If the petition actually gets a useful answer that's a step up from L2
2) Few games have rebalances between expansions, the fact that they DO end up balancing them out means they hear it. the devs who work on L2 most likely have no idea the EU/NA community exists
3) I don't think anybody except bilzzard staff has an accurate number on the WoW bot population, it's hard to see them as a player. doing something is better than doing nothing though.
4) back to point 2, in Asia this game is a major seller, there's plenty of advertising there, but the EU/NA section just doesn't really matter to the people who decide what to spend their money on
If your idea of fighting the farmers is to lower the drop rate every update (Lineage 2) making it harder and harder for the farmers to collect mas quantaties of items then you fail. Only thing it did was creat more farmers. When I started in C2 there were farmers but not as many as now. However you could reasonably expect to collect enough items to make your next lvl gear. Now however you can grind all the way to 75 and not get enough items to craft 1 piece of gear in each grade as you lvl. What a way to keep the players honest.
You don't have to make it to easy but removing the incentive to make your own stuff crated this mess. Not to mention you have to craft everything now since you cant even get a full drop anymore except on some raid bosses. I so hate common items what a waist of coding.

1) If they have a population of 10mil+ subscribers, they can easily afford to pay more staff to answer the petitions quicker. Also, since it takes so **** long you're usually not there when the petition is answered. This leads to generic "Turn off your mods and try again" or "Working as intended" replies
2) They don't end up balancing it out. They just switch the FOTM class. Just like L2. But unlike L2, WoW has expansions every 2 years, instead of a half a year.
3) Bots in L2 are banned regularly. They just come back. So both companies are doing something about it.

QFT
in c2 you could get one full drop a day from playing, say 5-6 hrs a day. in the lv 50+ areas, you could loot mulitple CL or 20 varnish at a time.
in gracia, you can get 3 thread or 5 stem from lv 75+ drops.
this is probably reasonable in korea when a server has 5k active players, but in NA this really encourages rmt or botting since no NA server can claim even 3k active players (you know, actually pressing buttons instead of being afk).
i so wish there was an NA localization/dev team to solve these shortcomings but after 4 yrs we all know better (start your own train, ncsoft loves the bonus income!).

I wasn't refering to our banking system as socialist i was refering to taking away the freedom of choice to use cash only if thats what you wanted to use. American freedom to use a credit card or cash instead of being forced to use credit cards is what i was getting at.
I consider Democrats Socialists and being American i'm entitled to my opinion but I'll appologize for making the remark on a forum where everyone isn't American becuase it was uncalled for but I won't appologize for calling him a socialist and the vice president a neo **** and at least i only have to put up with him for 4 yrs .From here on out i'll watch what i type on the forums and keep it game related.
I'm from south america. And the game isn't "avaible" here.. You can count like 10 or more "private" servers with more than 1.5k ~2k players just because there are no chance to play in retail cause ncsoft dont sell prepaid cards or allow payments with CC/paypal from SouthAmericans countries. It's just crazy. The game is losing like 10k real players without a reason
Then NC should copy them and get the ******* Bots out of this ******* game and into ******* instances.
Except WoW has 10+ times the amount of instances and they have little restrictions on them which are no trouble for bots (can only reset instances 5 times an hour... lol)

You know I feel your pain and i've expressed it before (rifles through old posts) I had brought this up eons ago that finding timecards is like seeking the holy grail. And that i dont understand how NC cant implememnt a better way of getting these accessable on a wide scale.
Being how i've been working the Retail world for quite some time I know where there are problems. In the case of Gamestop/eb its that the stores dont actualy order what they want its a hub run company where they ship to where they think things are projected to sell or it could just be a monkey with the shipping label. i could never quite tell in the end.
only after Running a store for lil over 3 months did i discover all employies have the ability to request product not just store manager or district managers. But just cause its been requested doesnt mean it'll show up. this being said even if a store consistantly sells out of time cards for NCgames doesnt mean were gonna get more if the monkey doesnt ship them. i know it sounds bizzar but its true. the only hope u have at that point is have them search the computer and see where the nearest one is and see if u can have them transfer it over (or know HOW to) because really gamestops are almost turn key. the shipping is all layed out for you right down to pull lists and price changes are waiting for u in the morning. thats why they pay people near nothing to work there. u really dont need a wide range of skills to collect money and sell a game. therefor u have a constant flow of turn about employies who train the next person leaving something in translation. luckily i had some awesome managers before i even stepped up so i knew a few more tricks than other stores. ok enough about gamestop i really hate the company.
now on to how NC can really make it worth while to bring timecards on a large scale. cause the biggest problem is they ship cards that are already activated meaning if u have a store that just puts them out on the shelf, any punk with a razorblade can slice the tape and steal the card rather easily and make it out and activate it. there are no tracking number or refrence number on the box so when a store shrinks it out we cant even tell ncsoft to reject the card. so depending on how the contract between company and retailer is either the retailer eats the cost and doesnt want to order more or they get credited by the company. either way its a loss of revenue both in that no one is getting paid but the cost of making the card and box along with shipping. its a bigger loss than most think. but means these things wont get put on shelves or even forgotten or not re-ordered.
solution is to go at point of sale Activation. if microsoft can do this along with any joe blow phone company i fail to see how NC cant do this. make batch cards with magnetic strips, sell exclusive or to all major retailers. EVERYONE has a magnetic reader. Gamestop/eb/walmart/target. all sell product that has to be "loaded" i.e gift cards! so if u send out 100 cards that are not active till bought and they get activated at the store. there is no loss of product. every card used is paid for! Xbox live has cards like this and it works! but ill tell u how much shrink i deal with when i have POSA cards! lets see here NONE!
so i know this turned out to be a huge and long post but if your at gamestop/eb have them see where the closest card/game is, and if its a bit far for u see if it can be transfered. But hopefully there is more than one store in the area and u can just jet on down and pick it up (also have them call and confirm its there) i cant tell u how many times i would see product suppose to be in store and then they cant find it.
also try target and dont forget any NC card can work so if u find one for City of heroes! your golden!
and NCsoft Feel free to mail me if u really need ideas cause well i have them!
again sorry for the long post and bad grammer i just woke up and started to post next time ill drink my coffee first!
I don't use a debit card cuz i'd just get myself in trouble.
There is nothing wrong with acknowledging your limitations or ethical temptations. But there are always options. Ever consider Paypal or buying a Visa or Mastercard gift card? Most should work for L2, although you may need to register your address in advance.

I'm American and you greatly overstate what a "freedom" is and is not. But keep in mind the transactional challenges of what you propose.

The point is that this forum is a politics-free zone. I'm sure you're aware of plenty of other websites and blogs where you may opine away until your fingers turn to embers and ash. This is not one of those sites. Respect the wishes of the L2 staff and your fellow community members.
And FWIW, mutual respect travels well in ANY idealogy.
I was born in Philadelphia, and i appreciate your willingness to watch what you say on the forums from here on Eamon.
I can understand your point on having to pay with a card vs cash, a young friend of mine had that problem about 2 years ago, but his mother opened him a bank account. All in all though, this isnt NC softs fault, its the retailers.
Ps: i found out today you can Pre-Order Aion at Gamestop, maybe NC will push adverstizing for future releases.
i think L2 is a nice game anyways..
it released 2004, maybe a bit old. i think L2 should think about the way like wow, wow is a success MMORPG game, still popular..you know...
i dont wanna see L2 dying...i did love this game very much
Wow has been around for what, 2-3 years? It's also a completely different game. I know I wouldn't want L2 to do anything in comparison to Wow, as I think many other L2 Players.
Fry's Electronics, if you can find one in your area, carries NCSoft game time cards, as well as multiple versions of Lineage II. GameStop also carries both, but usually only have one game time card in stock at a time. As far as the games themselves go, GameStop tends to only get an initial shipment of any PC title. Once they sell those, they usually don't get more. This applies to almost all PC games, not just Lineage II.

You mean FYI maybe which stands for "For Your Info" since i have no clue what "FWIW" stands for.
So was that really necessary to try and make a point on what i said about politics after i publicly appologized for stepping over the line and said i wouldn't do it again? As far as i'm concerned i already took care of my mistake on my own so thanks for posting that for any other people that need to hear it though.
Feel free to lecture me about anything else you need to in a pm since i already took care of my mistake on my own that should have been the end of it.

FWIW = "For What It's Worth."
And you're right, that was the end of it. Apologies.
No probs i'm cranky cuz tired i finally got a temporary job at the place that laid me off before thanksgiving and so i haven't been myself lately. I usally watch my manners even though that is very hard to believe .
All the GameStop stores that I brought cards from in recent months have stopped carrying the time cards. That is... 7 stores in the general area, maybe a couple more. Everyone in the phone book stopped carrying them. Circuit City and Best Buy haven't had a card in the past month - 2 months. I'd have to drive 1.5 to 2 hours to get a time card, and they prolly won't have any after I buy them so that is unacceptable.
Game is getting too frustrating to run, especially seeing as how you need more accounts than NCSoft lets you charge to a CC to be able to do what you have to do without hours of LFG. Gonna have to look for another game. **** is totally not worth it.
Can't find a time card, and my OL has all my friend's gear on it. He just xferred back and needs his gear... Been looking for 2 weeks, lol.
The Best Buy in my area sells the 4th anniversary retail box for $20. I bought the 2 they had, thinking it was just clearance, but they've ordered more since then and they are still priced at $20. Anybody desiring a cheap 60 day time card + in game items/services should check out their local Best Buy.

Friend of mine in game couldn't find any game cards in his area, so asked me to check out mine. He's in the NE, I'm in the SE. My local Best Buy ALWAYS had at least a couple of the NCSoft game cards on the shelf. Nope, didn't have them, nor did anyone else in the area. Gamestop in the same shopping center and circuit city right down the road...none to be found.
However, the L2 4th anniversary set was on the shelf (for 39.99), Guild Wars, Tabula Rasa (do you have to pay to play those?) and one other NCSoft product, whose name eludes me now in Best Buy. I actually looked.
Never had trouble getting the cards before, now it's turned into a real problem. Sounds like whomever manufactures the cards is NOT shipping them. It's obviously not a local problem to one area, but nationwide it seems.
Not a good move for NCSoft, really. If you have a pay to play game, you really should give folks a cash option. Some folks really despise using their personal information on the internet, and really, who can blame them?
Yep, called a few more places tonight. No city within 50 miles of me has a store with PlayNC game cards in them. All the GameStops now say they do not carry them. No Wal Marts, Circuit Cities, or Best Buys. I'm gonna hve to pay an extra $10 to activate this account, I won't bother activating the account after this month goes out. The rest can expire, too.
1 Debit card, and NCSoft won't let me put 4 accounts on one. Only other way to do it without game cards is to buy a rechargeable debit card, and TBH the game is not worth an extra 5-10 bucks a month. 60 is enough, IMO.
Thanks guys and girls for posting on that issue. I thought it was only a Utah game stop thing that stopped carrying the cards a few months back and the best buy here was limiting the cards to 1 per customer a few months ago and couldn't get any more than maybe 4 at a time if that shipped in to the store. When i checked this week they didn't have any cards slotted as coming in.
With the adena spammers in game knowing all of our toons and being able to spam a toon as soon as you logg in it makes me aware of just how easy it is for people to get all your banking info and I'll agree some of my comments on this thread were pretty immature but i still think we should have the option to go to a store and buy a game time card if we don't want to mess with the possiblity of our bank accounts getting hacked.
Game Time Cards and Overlords i am starting to think might have something in common.
Overlord had ally buffs at the very start of this game and then 1 of the NCSOFT people decided they didn't want Overlords being able to do that so they changed the game.
Game Time Cards have been available ,even though always hard to find for me it seems ,since i've started this game right before the 7 signs and now maybe are going the way of those Overlord Ally buffs.
It makes me think someone in NCSOFT doesn't want players having options on how they pay to play just like that NCSOFT person didn't want Overlords having those ally buffs.
I personally think that's very crappy customer service and i've always heard statements that the customer is allways right .So i wonder where the money hungry people in NCSOFT are since with out all the options available to play they are losing out on money.
There's no reason to need all those accounts. My husband and I have been playing for 3 years with only one account each (on a debit card), and we are 100% legit. It takes work, but we enjoy it. If you hate the game so much then it's time to find something else to do. To each his/her own. ^_^ It is after all *just* a game, and I always say if you don't like what you pay for, then move on!
...I will still agree with the fact that time cards need to me more accessible, but they are out there.
Latest update I actually found 4 Time cards at best buy on the shelf saturday and it's monday here so i bought 2 and was able to get back in game. I know how hard it is to get them so i left 2 for someone else and the 2 months i was away i played city of heros and that's a cool game. I like how it has more customization options than the everyones a clone look that lineage 2 has.
So is NCSOFT gonna advertise this game or completely cut it out of the North American market? Reason i ask is the obviouse problems we all have of getting time cards to use.
It would be nice to know since now i have a city of hero's acct. I can play that if no more Lineage 2 for North America.
I've been buying 4th anniversary packs (60 day game time) for ~$20 each from resellers on Amazon.com. mailed right to you, just buy ahead before you expire. cheaper, and lots of pig lollipops Oo buying game cards in stores is A) hard to find and B) costs more.
I'm not going to advertise for anybody, but you can find private resellers and distributors who will sell you timecards online and email the code directly to you in minutes.. or even give it to you in msn/yahoo or whatever.. thats how I pay for my account

My local EB Games had 1 copy of the 4th Anv eddition. I bought 4 coppies of it at Best Buy for $19.99 becouse that was serriously cheap game time, and went to EB to get their coppies. The guy at the counter said it was $49.99 and that was just that. I told him that the EB website listed it at 19, and that Best Buy was selling them at 19, and he just said too bad.
I asked him when they plan to mark it down, and he said never, its not a popular game, and no one buys it, so they will just send it back to the warehouse in a few months if it hasn't gone.
a week or too later I cam back, saw that it had been marked down to $19.99 and bought it... I made sure to give the guy a big smile and a glare while I paid for it. I could tell he was just seething as I walked away with it.
The problem here is not the players, it is not NCwest.
The people who call all the shots are Korea, they own the game they control its actions.
All monies you pay filter thought the chain to Korea.
Korea is ONLY interested in KOREA and the oriential branches.
THIS IS NOT RACIEST, IT IS A FACT.
NCwest is a puppet, they cannot do squart in or to the game without direct permission from korea. This has been debated many times in the past, the lic ncwest purchased or leases only allows them marginial permissions.
I have played severial other korean grindfest, and each one francised out to other countries were not as good as the korean version, items left out, events not held, limited francise control over the game.
AGAIN this is not raciest, and NO i am not standing up for NCWEST, when ncwest came into being i had high hopes for this game, but they let the ball slip out of there grasp. They could have really taken this game to the same lvl as WOW but they didn`t.
We have all seen this game go downhill, but we love it so we stick around grinding our lil ingame hearts out to reach the higher lvl so we can enjoy the full content of the game, while others take shortcuts. We have all seen certain players that during seiges OR pvp, react faster, kill faster then any other toon around them can. We all have seen charactors that were junior to us mths earlier suddenly severial lvl`s ahead of us, fully decked out in gear.
Every Legit player that gets frustrated and leaves is another nail in the L2 coffin, the starter areas are empty, the only low area toons you see are subs and re rolls from existing accts, opps and bots farming then de lvling to keep farming the same area.
Players get frustrated because of the balance in the game, i know we all just love that some toons can hit u from a mile away and kill your toon before u can even land one strike, LOL sometimes before you even see them.
Players get frustrated because of the blantant adena buying ingame, certain players with +6 epic jewels, and naturally we all know how easy it is to enchant epics, opps what am i saying i don`t have an epic to enchant.
The downfall of this game is the total lack of attention NCwest AND korea have paid towards the NA version of L2.
But the sad part is that WE as customers have allowed it. Our voices are weak but the money we spend is strong, so do not speak with your mouth speak with your wallet. If enough players banded together and wrote to plaync informing them we were not going to pay until the game was sorted out then you might see a change, but that will never happen, you see you have too many players that would say:
Don`t like it, leave !!!!!
What can be done to save this game, sorry nothing, the economy is ruined from the bots and adena sellers.
The bot owners and adena sellers own this game, we as players are mearly just puppets.
I normally pay with my online subscribtions with a debit card, but I definately prefer using game time cards as its safer. Although stores like Game and GameStation in the UK do not sell PlayNC time cards. I don't understand why !
Uk hasnt had time cards for years, but we do have Paysafecards which you can get at every filling station, uses the same machine as topping up your phone. Which makes subscription alot easier.
You sure there isnt somthing similar in the states?
But I looked and you can still find timecards everywhere online.. I can even give whoever needs it the email of the guy I get them from, instant msn delivery and reliable
But i think you cant compare Aion with Those for me at least, infrior games..Aion is from NC and mega hyped and many want at least try it.
could be fun to try if the server situation at launch isn't the same as Luna and Franz launch where you couldn't click anywhere in the newbie towns without targeting a char named fdlksj43 and forget about hitting a mob when there was 20 bots per mob

That requires u to have a credit card or use paypal, which defeats the purpose of it, might as well just pay with paypal direct lol
I was saddened when I returned to L2 after taking yet another break in early 2008 that Sieghardt no longer existed. I started playing L2 during beta and played into C1 then quit. WoW is the main reason why I quit, and today I am regretting that decision. Although I did have a lot of fun in WoW, I just cant stand the game anymore, so now im back in L2 after 5 years and im only in the low 60's lol.
You guys are kinda dense sorry WoW was so popular because you can advance fast, easy to pick up and play for short amounts of time and still get somewhere. it was because they knew how to draw in all those people which is the majority of gamers

lineage 2 caters to a small percent of gamers
Not only because of the fast lvling. Its because it isnt a grind game. Its quest based for advance in the game. WoW is more a euro game for euro gamers and L2 is a grind game more for the asian market with mass PvP.
Also L2 has more subscripers than wow. I played wow 1 year and i didnt found 1 little reason to stay and play it.
WoW = Child game
Lineage II = Adult game

ok... im really getting ready for this..lol....
WoW is a better game. I still love lineage2 and despise warcraft. But the WoW cryers are right. Theres something to do at every level. In l2 you can grind, or you can grind.
But you know what?
game mechanics wise and content wise?
Warhammer eats WoW, just hardly anyone plays Warhammer. But again, theres that
stupid side thing.
before you flame the crap out of my opinion here me out.
thats mechanics and content only
neither one of them is based on Free For All content
none of those games can you just pick up whatever weopon you want and use it.
and none of them can you actually generate income from the land like you can in L2.
the economy in any other game is a joke compared to what L2 "could" have
though the other games have content, its content is limited to the class that you have.
WoW = PVE game
Lineage II = Mass PvP Hardcore game
Two difrent games which cant be very good compared. They both offer difrent game and play styles so there isnt anything to campare about just the graphics and some other little things.
Who likes to solo, doing quests to lvl and lvl in 1 month to maximum lvl wow is the right thing. The thrill L2 offers in the mass pvp and freedom in it cant be touched by wow and never will. WoW is a european target for players. Lineage II more a asian target. I never would play wow again, i did it for 1 month and regret the payment i did for play it. The only bad thing is i need to mantion about l2 is the grinding. Its bad that we dont have other choices/ways to lvl up. With the Palaika quests it began to get a bit better and much more fun lvling/getting vit and some cool items out of that quests. Those quests we need. Much more of them for at least we have an option how we want to lvl.
