dang purp and your 5 bars of rep! lol
I picked Tallum Heavy, because it works for just about all of my characters, including the archers and dagger. It's the haste bonus that I like.
tallum without a doubt but second best has to be BW
I chose DC.
I just love the look of it. :)

Same reason why I picked Nightmare (also the reason why I'm wearing it on my WS :)).
BW is my choice as the Ftw b-grade heavy. LOVE it.

A-grade? Hmm. I have nightmare (because that's what the clan had to loan me at the time). I liked Majestic the few days I tried it (my son loaned me his set). My clanmates liked Tallum.....

This preference can be highly dependent upon your playing situation I think. Through much of the 60's I've often found myself solo (due to play times/schedules mostly) and in those cases, the hunting areas don't beat me up too much and I appreciate anything with an offensive add.
If I was group-tanking every day with DD's and supports I'd probably want the more pure Defensive armors since in that case the tank doesn't really have to kill much.

A player I used to admire very much was a huge advocate of the concept that tanks should focus ONLY on damage output since their group keeps them alive--basically that the more damage a tank could do quickly, the more they held aggro.
I understand this concept and have even seen this to be true--but at the same time, with some of the goofy mob builds, no power in the game can "hold" aggro. Too, the area you spend a lot of time can matter a lot. In areas with quick/frequent and powerful aggro adds can test a tanks defense-even in a group.

Overall I'd pick a A-armor that gave some offensive boost to cover all bets. They all provide some defense and resistances of one kind or another.

(and I wish Humans didn't look like snowballs while wearing Majestic!)
Doom on Male humans :)
this ST says
B grade-doom (awsome wing thingys and the shield def is soooooooooooo awsome)
A grade-tallum (cuz it doesn't have the butt flaps like maj/nm and the +str +atk speed +poison/bleed resist is bucket o win)
S grade-IC (...DUH)

Tallum--protection from daggers, SK's, and mages who actually use posion

Nightmare-- protection from buffers/healers/orc mystics

Majestic-- protection from warrior's, slight protection from tanks

Dark Crystals-- protection from necro's and warlocks...SK's don't para :p
Blue Wolf on Human Males is win. Also Dark Crystal on Male Dwarves.
For my Paladin its DC Heavy all the way looks very holy ^^
For my dwarf hes only 58 so atm avadon heavy for looks
Well i voted for S80 Dynasty Heavy Armor. I know i am still far away from using it for my gladi but i love the looks it have. Finally something difrent and unique looking for many difrent classes. Looks very cool ^^,
I Pick Tallum only because you left out Appella

eeeer real heavy armor sets lol and it doesn't fit :p
It's real. it has more P defense then Tallum or DC and you don' t loose XP if you die in a PVP war and it adds a ton CP and don't take any of your con away.

CON = HP and CP. :p

meh u don't pvp as much anymore :p and all your cp boosting stuff making it take forever to kill u!
doom exemplifies what heavy armor *should* be.
I like my avadon and zubei +6 sets :)

avadon has the shield bonus like Doom and has no attribute penalty.. pretty cool on a tank .. and it's easier to +6 it as you can buy items in the shop for the b cry you get from failures :)

and zubei is cool for BD and any other 2 handed weapon user who can use heavy armor .. plus you get a PDef rivaling maj heavy +3 so the only bad side is that it lacks any A grade set resistances and dps bonuses... oh well it's a poor man's option anyway.

on and the coolest thing is mp regen rate on those which SwS and BD's should love, as well as any other classes.
+6 doom heavy is better. ;)
for tank yes, but if you want p.def only then zubei is better.. you see, doom uses full body piece so it lacks 1 extra +6 piece's pdef and hp bonus. for the same reason ava might be preferable if you don't want to change attributes.

also if we come further then why not just say maj +6, yeah that'd rock and +6 IC would rock even more. I was talking about affordable sets .. and yes, anyone can do lux +6 now, only thing you need to do is to stockpile a few hundreds of eabs which you can easily get using private buy shop nowadays.
if you want p.def only then zubei is better.. you see, doom uses full body piece so it lacks 1 extra +6 piece's pdef and hp bonus.

did you really just say that zubei gives you more hp than doom?

doom:
Max HP +320, Breath Gauge increase, STR-3, and CON+3.

270 - main
44 - gloves
44 - boots
66 - helm
---
424 -total
+
230 - shield

zubei:
P. Def. +5.26% and Max HP +294.

157 - upper
98 - lower
41 - gloves
41 - boots
62 - helm
---
399 - total
+
213 - shield

now then, there's 25 p.def difference between +0 doom and zubei in favor of the former. one extra piece with enchants doesn't give 25 p.def.

also, with the extra 1/4 chance to block, that's an absolute huge amount of damage reduction even if you're not a tank. anyone in their right mind would rather have the extra shield blocks than an extra 50 p.def from the zubei's bonus.

also, the extra 96 or whatever hp you would get from the extra piece of +6 does not offset the +3 con (which also adds p.def, by the way.)

zubei is cheaper, i'll concede that.

the entire point is moot, though, since it's b grade. i just wanted to get into the specifics since the server is down and i've nothing else to do. /socialsad
Honestly i have a Subbed ST and i used my +6 doom armor for the longest time..some ppl prefere NM for tankers cause of the added damage to close attacks..and obviously IC is better but besides all that i fell in love with my +6 doom set...it gives u more HP then any A grade armor considering a DE comes with low con,u deff want that extra HP when RB are taking about 1000HP every shot. Plus i love the way Doom looks on DE's
anyone know what the original intended stats were for major arcanna heavy and draconic heavy, by the way?
