Why don't the sws get any armor skills at all. I understand them being DD's, but I'm pretty sure even the BD's get plate, and that's the SwS opposite. Starts to get pretty annoying.

If they kept getting armor masteries they would have the same pdef as a tank would. They are bards, they are supposed to buff the party with their dancing/singing, not tank mobs.
They can still vr-tank to some extent, but they arent really meant to tank.
With the song of earth we can have ok pdef even without heavy armor masteries but even with them we could not be a real tank because we cannot hold agro well. :(
I wish we didn't get the same weapon mastery as the tanks though, it adds half the patk the BD's does. Might be worth it to be able to sing with any weapon but I am not so sure.
(Bot SwS and BD get the <40 heavy masteries, which do help some lol)
I swore that back in C3 BD's got armor mastery, just less than the sK class. Like the Sk got 3 Heavy masteries and the BD only got 2 per level. I could be mistaken, or they may have changed it since. Anyway, i get the bard thing, just I thought there would be a little Pdef or by AG doesn't it get hard to solo?
what?
Yea I'm so new I remember when there were only 10 function keys for skills even when there are 12 on a keyboard.
You mean they added a triple bar instead of having just one.
That adding 3 function rows they also removed the ability to control-number to another page for your main function keys. So now you may only click on the "buff-bar."
Wow, i called Heavy armor "Plate." Dig deep for your Wit.
The difference between Tanks and DD's is:
Shield Master/shield aegis(except DA)/HP ++/HP regen/Cubits and\or summon/Final Fortress/ certain stances / among other Defensive bonuses.
I was just commenting, I never played one before Gracia and I remember a friend BD saying their light armor ended at BG and their plate continued thru. While the PK had +3 plate per lvl, the D had only 1 or 2, but it was in convrsation.
So ease up, or I smack u down with my Chronicle 1 sword silly muse.

my avatar isn't that of a sword muse...it's an eva's templar.
you can still switch hotbars with the keyboard with the alt button.
you're forgetting quite a bit with your differentiation between the (assumed) bards and tanks...mostly hate levels and aoe hate.
also, a cubit is a measure of distance.
*and*
i block your chrono cithara with my map of elmore.
A Warlord / Dreadnought gets Hate aura, so its not exactly a tank thing.
So your an elf tank! That's why your so silly with correcting my lettering, you wish you had gone a different class... Hey, after we PvP I'll let my panther lick the brain matter batter out of your helm, cuz there wont be much left of your gimped character.
they get level 15 tank armor mastery which is better than the highest levels of any warrior-type armor mastery because of the crit reduction.
Adding to this line... the tank heavy armor is very very different from the warrior heavy armor mastery in that as serelina said about tank armor mastery gets crit reduction. There is one more thing though, the tank heavy armor master at equal lvl (at 40, havent checked past) of a warrior heavy armor also adds almost 3x the p.def. Same armor set, same lvl of "heavy armor mastery" my pally has plenty more p.def than my warriorclass do and thats without majesty skill on

I am the elpy raid boss.
if you're a DA, why are you qq'ing about bd's?
i love my class...i play a TK with pride.
also, there's no guarantee you'd beat me after the 45 minutes of tank pvp.
If you weren't so busy being a lame Rattler of Cold Hard FACTS trying to stunt on people asking a question, you would have answered correctly.
Other thread in general Discussion, Topic: BD's and Armor, and someone wanted to know the same thing.
Answer:
Knight Heavy Mastery cancels more Crit damage than a warrior's and gains higher P.def per skill.
Yes, I am aware there are places to get this info out on the World Wide Web, but I'm far to lazy to find them so I figured I'd ask in this forum. I was just curious.
So, that being answered, I guess it's the end of that.
it's not drama, i merely stated i have experience as a bard hence i'm qualified to answer.
i *did* answer you correctly in that you shouldn't be complaining and learn the game.
you're the one causing drama and maybe you take this game/forum a bit too seriously and you should take a break?
I would like to point out that shield master difference between my 77 spectral dancer and my 72 shillien knight is only 2 apart. Shield mastery lvl 2 on SD and lvl 4 on the SK.
I'd say the main difference tankingwise between an SK and a BD is the lvls of aggression/hate aura and the pdef added by masteries. This is also why BD's and subsequently SWS's cannot be allowed more heavy armor masteries.
A Warlord / Dreadnought gets Hate aura, so its not exactly a tank thing.
Nope they just get a long range aura thats kinda like hate except with minimal aggro with it - its just for pulling.
Just felt the need to clarify that :)
Thx, was about to clarify that but you already did :)

in c2, i used to tank toi 10th with my sws whenever lordglav was screwing around in real life.

That's the WHOLE point. I'm asking because I'm trying to learn a new Subclass before I actually commit to it.
I wasn't exactly complaining, but NOW I am well informed now that it reduces crit. Man to get an answer from some people you also get the reason u PK them in game.
Flaming me because of some melodrama just because I don't find all the websites to get super informed is so awesome though.
I still say the biggest difference between a Tank and party buffer is P.def and shield mastery.
I just forum while I'm crafting, I wonder how often you take these forums a lil too seriously Puddin head.

puddin head? aww...that sounds affectionate. i have my very own troll!
and no, the biggest difference between tank and party buffer is the hate and the buffs.
and smittie, there were a few daggers and archers in party as well as deathynder the level 67 theca tyrant. hunter and earth and hate x2 on each angel. had gosudivine there for a single recharge every five or 6 minutes. worked surprisingly well. they did pull aggro eventually but by the time they did, the mobs were almost dead.
Eh, I'm quite satisfied with what I get as a sws. If you are soloing, earth offers plenty in terms of defense. If you are partying, you probably won't be tanking, so it shouldn't matter.
Your party dps must have really sucked if you were able to do that.
Any dagger should be able to take aggro within seconds.
Yes they can smittie :) it will cost them mp that are better placed in singing however, but they can :) sws gets to lvl up their agression past 40 aswell so they can simply use that skill if need be ^^ Their agression is the same one that tanks do, though i think they agro it adds *may* be slightly less, yet its still better than none and more than enough to actually be successfully tanking if you have mp for it.
sws and bd don't get any more levels of hate after d grade. but it's still enough to hold aggro for the first part of the kill and it spreads out damage when someone else takes aggro and vr works all around and takes a bit more strain off of the healer.
I was able to tank kamas on my sws using the agro skills until the 6x ones, no matter what classes we brought along. I agree though, the mana should definitely go towards singing. I would only suggest doing this if you are the only heavy armor user.

i've tanked both 60 koalas with my sws. hunter and earth and just spam hate...even had enough mp for psycho every now and then.

Yes my bad there, the agression and confusion icons look exactly the same on my BD sub so i mistook one for the other, lol.
Tanking and singing/dancing in kamalokas are no problem at all, nor is throwing in hex or symphonies at all due to the extra boost to mp regen that a kamaloka gives you. Also due to the fact that kamalokas are limited time you can also feel "rich" and throw in extra songs and dances should you feel like it. ^^
