Your all kidding yourselves if you think they will just keep paying for servers that are always "light". At some point we will get more merges. Might take another year but it's been done once and will surely be done again.
From what I've seen on my server thus far it's pretty populated. I'm currently on Devianne and in certain cities I see nothing but players standing or sitting around. The thing you have to realize is that L2 will never have the amount of players that WoW has and I honestly don't see any MMO having that amount of players simply because the MMORPG market is so saturated.
Be happy with what you have and that's all I can really say. If you aren't happy then pay for a transfer.
I find it funny how people are unhappy with their servers but are too cheap to pay for a transfer, so they shout: "MERGERS PLZ".
Save 50 bucks and transfer out. Leave everyone else that is happy with their servers alone.
Transfers obviously don't fix the population issues on the servers. There are only like 3 servers really worth playing on ATM. The rest are trash.
Transferring to go from one dead server to a dying server doesn't change anything. Just makes you waste money cause if they don't keep the playerbase properly consolidated the game dies with it...
50$ a toon is too much for transfers, TBH. Some people have 3+ toons to transfer. You want to pay 300 bucks to transfer their main, their 2 buffers, their crafter, etc.?
You can also level up some toons to them so they can xfer the rest of their gear...

WoW has light servers. Obviously, you have never played it. Stop bringing it up. Half the people on this board that talk about it don't know WTF they're talking about.

I like to play on a what you call dead server. why? because there are more free hunting spots that isn't taken by bots and since I only play the PvE aspect of the game I don't care if I don't see any players around me, although seeing legit players that I know hasn't botted up theyr chars is always nice...the rest can take a hike (botted/bought chars)

Just leave it up and decorate depending on the holiday. So for valentines day, decorate your tree with hearts and cute nonsense. For Thanksgiving hang turkeys and cover the tree in mashed potatos and gravy...you get the idea. Will the neighbors think you are crazy? Nooooo, everybody does that. Crazy people make life interesting anyway.
So I forgot what I was going to say about mergers. Oh yeah, if they happen they happen. If NC wants to save money then it doesnt matter what we think anyway. Personally I like the server that I am on (Aria). It is light, but if I want pvp I can always find it and if I just want to relax and kill a few mobs without being in paranoid pvp mode then there are still spots you can go to that aren't heavily checked.
Phoenix looks fine to me, don't see why they would merge it. Maybe end game pvp is lacking, I wouldn't know yet. I was watching the Oly and saw some good fights, even though the pony dude with the batman tag pwned face overall. Low and mid-level areas are filled with both rerolls/alts and new ppl.
You know the game is getting older and ppl are going to leave for other games, yet it seems in any game community you get the people who constantly cry about their game dying. I have a feeling if one were to search way back to the early days of this forum you could probably find ppl claiming the game was dying even then. I just think another merge so soon would be unfair to people that won bid on a clan hall or might face losing their char name again.
i will lol at the noob who will pay 50$ for a transfer and then one week later he will find out that his server got merged (witch will happen pretty soon trust me)

I really think those of you who say your server is full and fine did not play on a server back in C3 or even C4 because there were sell shops in gludin thru Aden and all the towns were busy...i remember every server had at least a normal to heavy status and sometimes you couldnt even log in it was so full. It made the game much more fun because if you wanted an exp spot you fought for it, and every level teir was great.
Either Advertise the game when Gratica Final comes out to build the player base or merge servers so that there is still competition.

There is new people coming all the time, take a look around the forums...look at the reg date. For every one player who finds the forums there is most likely another few new ones that have not.
On Aria I have noticed a decent influx of new players as well. I think that in the long run more mergers are on the way, take it or leave it.
On a side not, how can you monsters leave your tree up so long?!?! First weekend after x-mas that sucker is down and kicked out my front door!

I played in Beta where Talking island had more people in "one" hunting area than in a typical siege zone. All fighting and ksing and ganking, and pking each other just to level.

That's not going to happen now lol. You're wishing for this game to be brand new again and it is not. Besides it takes no time at all to get to B grade now so why would there be a lot of ppl in newbie areas? The game changes and with that XP spots, pvp spots, etc are going to change.
The real issue with this game is 1) advertising is nonexistent 2) The idea of the end game grind puts a lot of ppl off. They have done a lot for the early/mid grind but need to work on that end game a tad.
Either way though, none of this would justify merging servers again yet. Eventually that will happen, but there is no need to rush it along.
I doubt that they will merge servers on different coasts.

I have a full contingent on both servers (Dev & Phoenix) wonder how that would work out. Guess i would have to decide which toons i would keep amd transfer all equip to them. Then cancel toons so that i would have space. Man that would be wierd.Be nice to have all that equipment on one server though :)
i dont care if there is pking and stuff in the newbie areas, just general competition at all lvl ranges would be sweet
They need a PvP instance area where you can PvE for rarer items and free form PvP w/o penalties with minor fame points and have this for 20+ for different levels and you can just go in alone or as a party
As for mergers--we've already seen this "model" (which is using a very generous term) and been hosed....erm...merged in the past. To call it a cluster-**** would be insulting (to clusters)...
You will all definitely get the pleasure to participate (unless you play on Teon) in the zany, wacky, wonderful world that is "L2 Server Merges"! Fun!
What I would appreciate is more than 48 hours notice. I have a couple toons to move from servers to consolidate them on my main account (my main server) and I will be royally ****** if I pay for the transfers and 4 days later that server is merged with mine!
So, can we talk about it? Who cares? Your discussions won't make ANY difference in either NCSoft's decision or process. They certainly didn't last time!
My question is: "can we KNOW about it?" (WHEN they might occur and who they will involve)
Actually, i started a post about mergers about 2 months before NC actually decided to merger servers, maybe just a coinencidence but I am optomistic that NC does consider what is said on the forums as long as it fits a financial business model. (they dont do this game for the hell of it)
I'll respectfully disagree with you. The handling and communication of the merger of Lionna and Kain was pathetic by any measure.
They were making up rules to answer questions just hours before the stupid thing happened!
The GM's were often silent on important points and seemed to be guided by the shouting of a few--ignoring opinions from essentially everyone else.
Worst mess I've ever seen from a customer service viewpoint. Complete fail. Even that IDIOTIC 'server naming' thread thing was just horribly thought out.
That's why I say they will probably do the exact same thing again.....because they suck at customer service.
I'm not HOPING for that--I'm simply bracing myself for what I see as inevitable. The entire NA group should have been fired for the mess they made of the mergers. The reason to hope the current group will perform better would be.........?

No one will ever take you seriously when you use such negative wording let alone thing you are being respectful when you use such negative words, quite the oposite infact.
To answer you though, the mergers may not have been ideal for you, or others, but from a business stand point they must have been financially viable. When you post how horrible customer service is and how NC should invest more into it you are only looking at it from your perspective (of course all players want the best customer service!) and use weak financial arguments about how better service = better revinue. NC is a multi million dollar company and they got to that point by having a balance between all factors that ends up with a bottom line of profit. This includes dealing with bots, customer service, game design, monthly fees and services, etc...
And finnaly I am going to believe that NC knows what its doing business wise over someone who has complaints about a game yet is still willing to pay a monthly fee to play, it obvious NC is not failing so bad that they lose your service, nor those of hundreds of thousands of others...

I have no intention of debating you on my own opinion about NCSoft and their handling of NA mergers--nor of attempting in any way of being "respectful" to them.
I couldn't give a flea's balls if they appreciate my comments as respectful or otherwise.
Your OP was about "let's have more mergers". Others came along to discuss how that might happen.
My comment is that it will PROBABLY be handled poorly--just like they did before.
I'm not looking for your approval or agreement (or anyone else's).
As for business concepts--I'll stick with my years as a CEO for a local healthcare company and DECADES in business leadership as a guide.
And just so it's clear, paying or not paying a subscription fee is not the only indicator of satisfaction. You can buy a new car but wish it was a bit more nimble--you don't give it back. You can pay to eat at a nice restaurant but wish they'd have served coffee more promptly--you still pay the bill when it comes.
So I'm going waaaaay out on a limb here and say that it's conceivable that someone could pay their subscription fee AND also disagree with NCSoft and be critical of their choices in the past. To be clear, losing a paying customer is LOSING in all business ventures--the organization's opportunity to retain would come before customers actually LEFT (lol).
In fact, I would argue that precisely BECAUSE I pay my subscription fee that I get an opinion too.
If NCSoft would have cared whether I have a positive or negative opinion then we would have seen them try harder.
They have a great product (lucky for them). They are pitiful at service for paying customers. Since that's my opinion--you may disagree all you like. What you can't do is argue that I'm not entitled to it.
