is the button in Action window, 'reporting 3rd program' ......working ??or not??Don't take this as anything other than speculation. But from what I've seen and heard that button doesn't seem to do anything other than put a line of text in your system chat.
But the good old fashioned way of reporting via petitions never got rid of them anyway, so you could say they are equally effective I guess.

The worse thing about it is although a real person can level faster than a bot, theycan follow you from 3x until forever from spot to spot because they catch up by leveling all day and all night (don't need to sleep)...
There were bots that followed me from leveling area to leveling area from level 3x to 7x. It was really annoying.
A lot of private servers use a programm,and when you try to logg in using a 3rd programm you see on the bottom of your screen the message:<<Access failed>> and you just got your account banned.
A lot are saying(i personally know a GM on a private server) that the person that can <<lock>> 3rd programms is the same guy who reated at first place the the programm.
That means that NC since she doesn't accept the use of these programms she don't gonna use the programm of <<locking>> them out?

But if a private server automatically can detect a bot program and ban the players, the bot developers do not really care and will not update their software, because there is no money to be made. That's why private servers have an easier time banning bots, because the bot developers do not care.

It would never work, maybe for Asia, but by the time the update got to NA/EU there would be a new bot version made that would get around it.
Plus, if they ever did that the game would die out, There are too many bots in the very small subscription base. If they ban them all the subs would be too low to justify running the servers and L2 NA would go the way of Tabula Rasa

If NCsoft had ever taken bots seriously many legit players might have stayed over the last 4-5 years. I guess at some point it was simply too late and now bots are needed for revenue, but it didn't have to be that way. We all know that one person with banning powers could clean out Catas/Necros and cripple botters in a major way, but they remain packed 24/7.
WoW has about 11,000,000 players and I've heard botters say that it's a crapshoot as to whether they can get an automated toon to the level cap, much less continue botting after for gold after they start raiding. When threads were made about bots openly farming in towns we were asked, "Where?" Sorry, but if GM's can't even find bots in Hunters Village then the war is lost. Well...the war was lost years ago, but the Apiga event was an all new low.
Sayha has totally surrendered to botting. There's bots everywhere at anytime now. Lots of tagged players and whole clans even bot openly and seem to be proud of it. I report everyone I see but with the bot button it's not working at all.

But I've reported these guys persistently for weeks but they're still there botting away in the cata. Must be really tough for NCsoft to find proof on these guys huh?
Only way that seems to work is to take SS and submit it with a ticket Then they will remove the bots but they're never happy about it:
"Should you encounter such a player(s) again, please report them via the bot reporting system so we can take immediate action."
