Destroyer Mechanics 101

Orc Classes Started Last reply 14 posts
I am a 63 destroyer, no tattoos , a nightmare set , with a +5 Dragon Slayer
with a nasty paralysis augment on it. I'm working on getting myself a destroyers
hammer, however while im waiting on getting all the mats together, i started thinking
of a few questions.

A. what or how do we increase our crit rate? other then our skills we have.

B. In thinking about tattoos is a +strength -dex tattoo any good? especially
if im thinking i want an increase in crit rates. i have a few +2 -2 dyes i thought maybe
a slight increase/decrease might be healthy and safe.

C. even though i thought about going with a 2 handed blunt, should i just try and craft an elysian instead? so i can get myself a shield for the NM bonus.

D. I love the NM set, I tried out majestic and liked it as well, then my friend was telling me about the speed bonus in Tallum. Who has what and what do they like about there set?

E. Lifestones....not just Lifestones but the ones for jewlery, im trying my hardest to spend
effort in increasing my m.def to decrease the range of my hostile nuker targets. Has anyone obtained good stats for M.def using accessory stones yet?

I was a tyrant, i loved it, however, after a huge mess , i rerolled a destroyer and
have found a love of the class. Please discuss.
Some people do go +DEX on a Destroyer, but I don't think it adds much to crit rate. My advice is this:
1) Build up the power of your hit through equipment, and maybe a tattoo. (Or maybe not. But if you do get a tattoo, I recommend you go +STR - DEX.))
2) Group and take advantage of buffs, dances and songs to enhance your attack speed, crit rate, crit power, P.atk and accuracy (plus anything else that seems reasonable).
3) Take advantage as much as possible of your few skills.
4) Get Tallum Heavy or Majestic. (Both enhance damage, Tallum much more so than Majestic, but with Majestic you get interrupted less often by stuns.)

This approach will work for A grade.

Never forget that the CON of a Destroyer is one of your innate advantages in the game. Not just for high HP, but also for stun resistance.

I have not reached S grade on my Destroyer, but apparently the thing to do is get Fire to go with your Infernal Form skill.

A:Buffs, Sword w/focus, zealot....
B:-con+str
C:Sell your NM set its total crap for a destro, get tallum which will increase yur dps.
1H blunt is bad idea since you have 2h weapon mastery, get infernal master with focus (or polearm to exp)
D: Tallum is the best choice
E:You wont reach 'good mdef' anyway
Oh yeah, it was late when I posted last night, and I missed the part about 1h weapon /shield bonus. You're a Destroyer, and Destroyers don't mess with shields, they use 2h weapons. Most people prefer the 2h swords for PvE to get the better crit rate, although many say a 2H blunt is much preferred for PvP.

Thing is, 2H blunts are 'preferred' by some who PvP, but I’d still suggest going the sword route.
The only advantage the blunt has is that you can use hammer crush, which I think is a rubbish skill anyway (I don’t think I’ve ever had it on my skill bar lol). If you want to stun people, I'd wait till 77 and just use Armour Crush.
Never use -dex tatoo on a destro, go with +dex -con if u have a health weapon. Refresh skills faster and crits more.
Leave the blunt until s grade, get a dagger with rsk haste instead, and use it with your DS.
Tallum and Majestic r your best options, i tried tallum until 70 and majestic for stun resist after that.
what about NM common heavy? no specials, just pdef? is this worth it?

2H blunts are better vs daggers/archers, 2H swords are better vs others.
Stun is allways good, but it hardly lands after latest chronicles

Forget common, it is ok only if you leaching exp in party...

What is the difference in crit rate when going +4 DEX on a Destroyer? A -4 DEX tatoo on my Tyrant (with fist weapons) reduced the unbuffed crit rate by 3 points. On a Destroyer with a sword, I'm thinking a +4 DEX might increase crit rate by 5 or 6 points, which would be negligible, but I could be wrong. I have no feel at all for skill refresh rate effects from a +DEX tatoo; but if the changes in the next expansion are seen as in patch notes, this will become a moot point.

Hence enhancing crit rate i feel is important for our class.
I am currently working on getting a 2 handed blunt...as for the NM set i own,
I will more then likely craft a set of tallum or trade it entirely.

I feel the people who play the Destoryer class are much divided in two parts

1. handed blunt vs. 2 handed swords
2. Tallum vs. Majestic

everything on playstyle depends on which set you have. am i right?

To be correct. I prefere 2h swords vs 2h blunts. Only because higher crit rate. And over all dps rate. Blunts are ok only in PvP vs daggers/archer (high evasion classes) and they provide additional stun. Thats it. As aditional thing, blunts have lower (much) crit. rate, BUT theys critical damage (it is valid for destros only) really hurts!

One reason to go with a blunt i think is the recent changes to frenzy. im not sure if the damage output is greatly different then the 2 handed sword or not. does anyone have any
info on this?
