1. disable private message...not usualy an option
2. go to theyr site and tell them in live support to remove your char from the spam list. I did that and haven't seen a single spam from them again (on the char I asked them to remove).
also sending a petition in game usualy stops them for few hours until they create a new char to spam with (GM's ban those spammers fast)

2 steps that any player should NOT have to do. Theres already precedent thanks to blizzard to stop ingame adena sales spamming (which worked extremely well in WoW)...its either the legal dept being lazy or things are pretty tight at ncsoft.

How do you disable PMs? I've tried /block all but for some reason the adena ads still get through...
as this is probably my last post i might as well make it a usefull one
the ONLY game i seen that actually beat ingame spam was eq2 who introduced a smart filter which quickly (as in whitin a months time) killed all spam to the point i dindt see any spam in months (when i still played it)
Well, i know that adena buyers, already got banned accounts. So NCSoft is doing something...maybe not against everybody but they do something with is important and better than nothing.

I tried to get into the Adena site but my computer froze...they are having a 30% discount event...if you have the lucky code (which they give you btw)..must have gleamed that method from some advertising agency....probably from Western Canada...Hoho.
easy solution is to ban anyone that gets chat ban for X amount of time. the only way currently to get higher chat ban time is try to talk again while chatbanned, spammers should be chatbanned from sending 32443 messages in 10 seconds...the isssue that i see is that sometimes i get a pm when i have just logged into an area, no one else in sight and im in the middle of nowhere. this means either that the spammer knows when i log in (scary thought!) or the spammer is invisible (scary thought!) or the spammer is constantly sending 23455 messages to people that arent even online, in which case they should be chatbanned, and aren't (scary thought!).

hard to be chat banned when they don't use the official client to spam with...and yes it's the client that issues the chat ban not the server.
Thats the guy that is advertising an Adena sales site with the Hot Pink script in Game.
Its really annoying when i'm sending pms and i wind up sending pms to him/it/whatever.
Funny thing is his English has gotten way better since he started these messages ...lol.

That's really effective... Spam... When are you gonna do another bot clean up like the one you did some months ago?? ^^ (hint: you should start with Garden of beasts this time)

how often do these petitions get checked? It's common seeing the same names spamming for a very long time before they get replaced by a new one.
Not to mention it doesn't fix the problem which is that it's pretty **** annoying getting those pms all the time. They just get replaced with new names.

Petitions are checked as they are sent. So to push all the buttons and do all the control-c and control-v to record the ban... I would say 30 minutes max. But if no one reports the spammer because they think someone else is going to do it... well they could stay there for hours.

When I had another job.. I had an interesting hobby.. generate SPAM(the non-GM-Bad-one) with invalid reply-tos and send them to the specific site... you know that they keep emails there, right? ;)

you mean to say that the spammers arent even in game? the chat message clearly comes from a toon in game, the name of the toon comes just before the "->" . if there is a toon with name K001304BB and you can pm them back in game, doesnt that mean that they are, well, logged into game? maybe ima confuse.

what I mean is that they use a home made client to connect to the server that they use to spam with...they don't even have lineage2 installed on theyr systems (unless they need it to create the char they use to spam with).
they are in game, but using a different client than the rest of us does (by us I mean we that don't bot)

Well there's currently a guy named kenzoR spamming something about a free bot program in giran(on bartz), I reported him when I went to bed, and he's still there now, 10 hours later. He's been spamming the same message every 35(ish) seconds. something about a free out of game bot program (undoubtedly a keylogger, but that's besides the point)
