Her appearance should please our Greek brethren, I think, but what is her place in the greater lore of L2? Is she the offspring of Einhasad and Gran Kain? A guise/ruse of Eva? A flawed construct of the Giants?
I overheard Gran Kain proclaim that he's not the "baby daddy," no matter what the DNA test shows. And Shilen isn't talking either, contrary to what you may have heard about Aphrodite rising from the sea.
How and where cometh Aphrodite?
"Einhasad and Gran Kain gave birth to many god-children between them. The first five of these children were empowered with the authority of the earth. The eldest daughter, Shilen, was in charge of water. The eldest son, Paagrio, controlled the fire, and the second daughter, Maphr, controlled the land. The second son, Sayha, became master of the wind. For the youngest, Eva, there were no elements remaining, so she created poems and music. While the other gods were busy with their responsibilities, Eva wrote poems and serenaded them with music. And thus the era of the gods began and there existed no place on earth unknown to the gods."
I think you need to write a support ticket to NC...THIS IS IMPORTANT!! They need to put all other support requests on hold along with bug fixess, bot hunting, and Gracia Final and get this fixed!!
..or you can go to Aria and ask some of th RP wierdos there, I'm sure they already have a decent answer for you.

Ignore Ashleigh, He, She, It, seems to forget what the R stands for in MMORPG.
I'm with you on this; there is a lot of lore which has been ignored. It's a shame I can't get a look at the Korean version because I'm pretty sure they've updated theirs.
I still see a lot of quests talking about the coming Chaotic Chronicle.. which are over 4 years out of date. None of the old quests which talk about things which have happened in the past have been updated.
Either the translations haven't been moved over (gg NCwest) or Korea haven't made the changes either.
I want Ares to show up too. Perhaps he could be added as a raid boss, I'd sure go hunting my favorite Greek God ever! I'd even be there to PK anyone that wanted to kill him!!! (yes, I'm weird. I like the God of War :p).
I don't get why Aphrodite either, to be honest. Makes no sense lore-wise, but then again... We can just say that there was a rift in the dimensions and that the Greek gods managed to enter through. Perhaps next update will add a new Kamaloka to close that dimensional rift so we can send the Greek Gods back to the Olympus!
...I love Greek Mythology and I consider myself pretty acknowledged on it, but it makes no sense. Let's just be happy for so many events in a short period of time and ignore the nonsense :D
While the messenger thing is not Cupid, she/he/it has the Cupid look: wings, cherub image and the little arrow with the heart shaped tip.
Cupid is Roman Mythology.
Aphrodite is Greek.
They is just a mixin it all up in here for this event!
Why stop there?
We should be able to get a "Blessing Of Freyr Scroll" - your pants increase twice their size in a certain area for the men and a little higher for the ladies.
How about the "Angus Ogs' Love Potion Number 9" - makes your target irresistible to all mobs in their area for ten minutes.
To say that I am disappointed in the choice of names is an understatement.
No, it's not, to quote Ashleigh:
I think you need to write a support ticket to NC...THIS IS IMPORTANT!! They need to put all other support requests on hold along with bug fixess, bot hunting, and Gracia Final and get this fixed!!
But it does interfere with the immersion that some people (and not just role-players, oh pretty, petty princess) enjoy in their games.
I suppose it is possible that Aphrodite could be one of Einhasad's angels, simply referring to herself as a goddess.
Actually I was too, although some people apparently didnt take it that way...I guess every time I attempt to extend a joke I'll have to end it with a :):) since people take these forums and this game way too seriously.
Who cares what the name is, at least it's an event that hopefully wont suck (but probably will). Lets hope the next 'event' is Gracia Final PTS
See, I think that there's a difference between Santa appearing in L2 and Aphrodite appearing in L2. Simply because the Lore in L2 talks about Gods and Goddesses. There are pages and pages and pages explaining about the Gods and Goddesses of the Lineage 2 world, they could have tried to tie it up with some of them.
There's no other mention of "anyone that comes and delivers gifts during Christmas" in the lore. So adding Santa to an event is catering to the player's real world's festivities. Same with the 4th of July events (although they don't matter at all to me being in Italy, but you know what I mean).
When you introduce a Goddess that belongs to the "real-world" stories into a game that has their own gods and goddesses, and being that there's no connection with Valentine's Day and Aphrodite (except that she's the Greek Goddess of ... love and lust, then why not Frejya? At least Frejya was meaner)... it's a lame thing to me. They could have thought of something else, without having to include Aphrodite. Seriously.
Besides, Aphrodite was more the Goddess of lusty-love, passion and sex (zomg I said it, don't censor my post please -rolls eyes-). She wasn't the one that would go around "spreading" love (that's not quite what she would spread, but let's not go into that). Eros was the one with the love and disdain arrows, shooting people left and right cause he was bored. Then he got caught on his own game (but I won't be here telling Greek Mythology tales, that's hardly the point).
It would have been better if they had just put a little angel type of guy with love bows and called "The Angel of Love". Einhasad has a lot of angels, it wouldn't have been that hard to pull it off. Oh well. Let's just hope it's a good event and praise the event people for at least trying to put as many events this close from one another. I like that.

Let's get all the deities involved!
A little higher for the ladies.. Um.. Some of them are already "well indoubt" lol :)
Awesome, -2 rep on this thread alone. At least one of you had the huevos to put your name to it....if you are butthurt I keep calling RP's weirdos then you are just proving my point that you take things way too seriously..I suggest you take a break, get some coffee and watch some daytime T.V., maybe go to some local community event that doesnt involve cosplay.
LOL yeah someone repped me negatively cause they think my post makes no sense. I think it makes sense, and I'm sure many people will think it makes sense too, but... oh well :D
Unless somewhere in some country Aphrodite is connected to Valentine's Day and I don't know?
Shouldn't matter what other people think... Should it?
It doesn't really. But I wish that instead of just saying I didn't make sense, they'd sign the rep and point out why I didn't make sense. So I could read and see if I really didn't make sense after all :D
I think this post points out something that is often not discussed directly--and that is that some players have more than one goal.
I've said many times before--there is room at the table (so to speak) for all players with different playing goals, and that one isn't necessarily 'better' than another.
Those of us who role play, and those who like marketing, those who love crafting, those with alt-itis, those who like the companionship, those who love raids, those who just want to do seiges and PvP--they are EQUAL goals. The game format is available for all of those things.
It's pretty hard to argue that "hitting 80 and pwning in the Oly" is the ONLY part of the game that matters. It's not--to a lot of players.
Too, what is so precious about these boards that people who ask about Lore have to be called names or ridiculed??!!
Are they taking away somehow from one more "Nerf archers!" or "ban bots!" thread? Does a question about connecting the lore in some way have to take a back seat to another mindless discussion about A-grade robe nuances?
Certainly this is a pvp game--that's how it's billed. But it's wrapped up in a format that allows players to pursue MANY different parts of the journey that they like.
Taking shots at role players doesn't show you are uber--it just shows you are ignorant and small minded.
I think having Aphrodite make an appearance is no stranger than Santa suddenly showing up and giving out Rudolph agathions. I don't believe Santa is included in the L2 lore either.

Nope, but that's what I was trying to explain on my posts (and people said I didn't make sense lol). Santa and Rudolph are somewhat known all over the world as being connected to Christmas. Same for the Easter Bunny during Easter, so that's an event catered to our traditions. Aphrodite, except the fact she's the Goddess of Love (and not quite the Valentine's Day love, if we want to be picky), she has no connection to Valentine's Day.
It's not like we go around saying "I hope Aphrodite brings you lots of love today" at Valentine's day. It would have been better to say Cupid, at this point, because Cupid (yes, the Roman name) is more portrayed during Valentine's day than Aphrodite is.
To address this issue, the reason we chose not to go with an in game background is that, much like the Holiday Events, Valentine Day is not associated with L2 lore. Because of that, we didn't want to confuse and try to blend existing L2 lore with a modern society holiday.
L2 has a fantastically intricate and detailed lore, and we do not want to dilute it by weaving in stories of Valentine Day, Christmas, or any other modern holidays that we feel would muddle it.

+1 on this.. except the detailed lore. Sometimes I really feel that there is something missing.

Completely agreed, but why is some of the lore which is already in game completely outdated? Why are NPC's crying that the Chaotic Chronicle is on it's way when surely it's long gone?
Is this lack of translation from the Korean Lore or have they not even updated their lore yet?
