I just picked up this game again (haven't played since the open beta) and I need a little advice on picking a weapon. I just hit 20 and finished my class transfer to a warrior and plan on going gladiator.
What type of weapon would be best for leveling 20-39 as a warrior, I noticed most skills can't be used with duals, but are they still worth it? Or would I be better of with a 1h sword & shield/blunt/2h sword?
I actually used a set of Duels. Even though there are no "skills" for Duels at these lvls, the double hits from "attack" make killing fast. Good thing about that is, since you're not using a "skill" you're not using any MP for attacks (I only used MP up when I had the continuous crit skill on). When you hunt/farm you will pick up +speed which makes you even faster. Just my thoughts. Hope it helps.
For a new character I still suggest sticking with your main skills. You have sword mastery so use it. If you level incorrectly on your first proper toon you will regret not learning your class properly.
E.g. If you level with duals/fists and you go tank, you'll never learn how to use your shield stun etc.
He's already a warrrior though so he can't go tank, purp. His only 2 choices are Gladdie and Warlord.
Hey fallensavior, here's what i did with my gladdie (i had a dorf main before rerolling gladdie so i had explored alot and done research already).
I wanted to play him as a gladdie from 20+ so i went with duals as weapon. The skills for 1handed weapons is not something you wanna keep at 40+ as a gladdie, you'll wanna maximize on your dual and sonic skills. The sword/blunt mastery does not stack with the Dual weapon mastery so learning those would be a huge waste of SP and since the weapons i used didn't work with the powerstrike, stun or whatever they were called i didn't bother learning that either. Basically the only stuff i learned between 20-40 was heavy armor mastery and the polearm skills. I got the polearm skills for 1 reason and 1 reason only, i knew i was gonna duo alot with a WL. Those skills proved useful early on aswell.
Problem with this style between 20 and 40 is that its boring, lol, no skills what so ever to be used unless you pole your way up through noobie lvls, but still if you wanna go gladdie and is concerned about maximizing your time contra SP this is the way. Only get heavy armor mastery through noob lvls (and maybe pole skills if you're gonna be poling sometimes too) and ignore all the stun attacks, powerstrike and whatnot. At 40 and 43 you will not have a single SP problem when learning all the skills associated with a Gladdie. The only other thing i got beside heavy armor mastery was Warcry and passives like boost hp and such.
**edit** I forgot to add that the detect weakness skills are great top pick up aswell. They are the Human warrior trademark and come to both Gladiator and Warlord throughout their lvls. At first you'll get detect insect weakness, not something you'll have a chance to use very often but once you reach the 50+ or 60+ you'll have quite a few weakness skills and they are Very useful :) You canonly use one at a time but you can switch between them as you please, short reload time and the buff itself lasts 10 minutes.
