An average player, who plays just for pleasure (1-2 hours a day), won't be able to get any of pies! Awersome event...
Well, at least bots, who grind 24/7 will get some profit again.
And of course they forget about all the others that cannot play during peak gaming time ... and I'm not talking about euros either, to be fair. There are like 5 people in the US in my clan right now that cannot play during peak time and are complaining about the drop rate.
I'll NEVER understand the logic behind it. Shouldn't it be equal to ALL players?
bots dont profit a heck of a lot more than normal players for events like this; heres why:
when you get 2 event items per hour for 9 hrs during the day, then you get 9 items per hr for 3 hrs (peak times) a bot train will have worked 4x as hard as you for essentially 1.4x the reward. not even twice your gain.
by the way, you should already know that being online MORE will help you get higher level, get better gear, and earn more money. ANYONE (bot or not) that is online for a long time will benefit from the time spent logged in.
just why are you worried about bots, OP? how did you think this event would be beneficial to the people who dont log in? what event can you have that involves offline activities?
I just wanted to be able to play during NORMAL time for me and get the same amount of drops I would if I played during "prime time". And to anyone that will come and say "go to an Euro server", I'm the ONLY European player online in my clan/ally right now. And there are at least 6 of us online.

I got 7 dark, 7 white and 2 cream in an hour. So perhaps you just had bad luck or are killing to slow? Try someplace where you can kill fast, even if the xp isn't as good (if you really want the event items).

With that said, I did go about an hour after the servers went up (11 white, 6 dark, 5 creams), and from what I've played I did have fun. This is the type of event where it will make me want to grind, even at 0% vitality. I've always loved the events where mobs drop the event items, so this is another cool event to me, and am looking forward to playing some more after work tomorrow morning.

1 hour farming in BS = 0 drops....another 1h farming in Cruma tower outside.. = 2 drops....I mean...this is ridiculous comon! =| what is that for a drop rate?! Of course this event is tailored for the bots. Expect sellers of 50,000 chokolates 100,000 tomorrow.
It is true if the devs wanted they can make quests and events wich will not benefit bots. For example the Pailaka quests and the Love Gatekeeper event.
BTW - after the todays update the CTD crits in the towns started again. Just imagined NCSoft hired some guys who knows how to program.

I played 40 minutes, solo and newbie buffs only.
Got:12 white chocolates, 8 dark chocolates, 2 fresh creams
ok... i tooked my low lvl mage. 22 lvl. 2 hours of 1-hit mobs near Gludio. 7 lvl up's.
I collected 6 cream, 12 white, and 10 dark!
Wohoooo! I got a cake.
Opened. Got 4 GHP.
Fantastic event, we want more similar events!!!

Well I quit Everquest and came to L2. With that said I played EQ for 4 years...guess how many events they did....1. A whole 1...so since I have been playing L2 I've had to pleasure of taking part in about 5 over the last few months.

Your missing my point. My point is they dont have to do crap all for us but they choose to do little events no matter how small and stupid they may seem the bottem line is they dont have to do it. They could just sit back and say "Thanks for your monthly payment"

1. NC doesnt even have to do events so thank you to them for putting time in to do it.
2. You have to grind anyways, so hell its just a little added bonus at the end.
3. Don't worry so much about the **** bots. If thats all you think about then no wonder you all have no fun in this game.

I look at it this way (Rofl)
1. We pay to play this game, and NC SHOULD and NEEDS to make the "good" boys and gals happy. Not the players who are breaking all the rules.
2. The event is supposed to make the grind fun - yes. But If what I am hearing is true, it's only fun for the lowbies and bots.
3. If we don't worry about the bots, or complain, or petition about the bots, they will never go away. People like yourself who just don't care are the kind of people who probably utilize the bots in one way or another.
Yep, drop rate sucks but at least we got something more while xping.

On a more serious note, I swept pretty much all of HS today (while farming the "Egg Delivery" quest) and some EV, and have almost enough parts for 2 cakes. And half a million (estimated) Mithril Arrows, of course. At least right now, you can combine the useful (reporting bots) with the profitable (getting more event drops).
No particular surprise for people who've been playing L2 for a long time. At some point the events had great drops even outside "peak game times" but they "fixed" that (afaik).
L2 is about punishment and unnecessary rules, conventions and more punishment, punishment doesn't go well with most of us, maybe in Korea they're more masochistic in nature or simply a matter of "how they are", and they like it this way, here we don't.
They ignored us so far, why would they look to what we're saying now ?
Well the drop rate is ridiculous and I don't want to have to be hunting bot spots in order to participate. That's not what the event description says.
So for me, that's it for the event. I'll do my stuff, and if I get cake stuff while hunting, good, if not, good too.
I'm ignoring this event from now on. Why does it have to be all or nothing? It wouldn't hurt to have a half-decent drop rate, gee.

I only got much event items because others didnt picked them up and i did it before them :P If i didnt had that luck, i didnt had even enough items till now to make even 1 cake! yes and i xped 4h already.

Its always like that, a very bad drop rate at the beginning, after 3 days items starts to drop like stems.. them theres a flood of items taking slots at your inventory cause you will not be able to get the last and rare necessary item to make the cake, and for every cake you will get 1 agation (got 5 rudolphs) , so everybody will have one and people will be happy to have a pink heart floating over theyr heads...
hint, sell all the crap and make money.

Yup. Confirmed, although I believe it's 20 minutes. Could be wrong as again, an ally member told me. If it's perma, then it's a nice 20/14m vit herb every 12 hours.
In any case, about the agathion, it's 20 minutes, with a 12 hour cooldown, and if you have MORE than one agathion, it's the same thing. You can't use the other vit skill from your second agathion if you've used the skill on your first agathion.
LOL i made 1 cake and all i got was a horse tranformation...now that GG...These event is just to boring due to its drop rate...pitty. I will just sell the drops i get. Like this i can take a bit of fun from this event. Hope next event is better.

It's 8 or 80 (as we say here), they can't reach a middle ground to make it enjoyable for us players and prevent farmers from getting 10000 of items in store?
I agree, the "automated" players gains huge benefits from those events. I really dont understand why NCoft cant skip the item-drop events and instead make some events where players actually have to use their brains.

I remember the events where raid boss type of monsters spawned all over the world of Aden.. was that fun or was it fun. We had a blast on Ventrilo chasing the spawns in groups and the drops was just awesome.
Those time limited rewards gives me a feeling they have to give the community something just to give us something.

It all depends on where you hunt and how fast you kill. You can honestly collect enough in around an hour if you're killing 1x or 1/2x mobs in bunches. The drop rate is low in general but there are ways around it, if you're so inclined.

I'm a nuker and in 4 hours of hunting (I'm not kidding, 4 hours), I didn't get enough mats for 2 cakes. Two-shotting every mob too. 1x mobs at FoTD.

I agree and i have the same poor luck. The drop rate is for a legal player which only can play some hours a day ridiculous. Bots surly will take advantage of it...but i am not buying nothing from them. I made a mistake and tryed to make one cake instead of selling that mats...i got a horse tranformation!! rotfl =(
I played at most 2 hours last night killing green and light blue mobs mostly. I ended up with almost 3 cakes worth. Was shy 1 cream i believe. Drop rate seemed ok for me between 11pm and 1am in a party of 3-4 people.
4 ghp and 3 or 4 eac or ewc for doing nothing out of my ordinary grind
I don't know if anyone has noticed this or not- but in every event NC does that incorporates getting event drops while hunting...cata mobs drop SIGNIFICANTLY less than field mobs.
I have noticed this fact in every single event where event items dropped of mobs. If you hunt in a field- you will get 2-3x the event drops than in a catacomb or dungeon.
Maybe NC did this to combat the bots getting maximum drops- since they mainly hunt in catacombs, but I doubt it.
Just tossing that out there.

To be honest guys, we asked for more events and we got them. We should be happy. God knows they need to be worked on, but hey - its better than nothing right?!

If the community is always so negative it will discourage more events. You can tell the staff is really trying hard to make us happy, and we just hate on it all the time. Its like your mate giving you an expensive gift and saying you dont like it! Low blow. Lets root them on and they will have motivation to do more and better events!
The current drop rate is ridiculous, but if they increase it the bots will benefit 10x.
A couple of suggestions to prevent this:
1. Make the event items and the rewards non trade/non drop. Let people freight them between their toons but no actual trading. Events shouldn't be for profit, they should be for fun and to get some rewards to use for your own benefit.
And/or
2. Make all events time limited with shadow items, like the pig event, rabbit event and the recent GK event. Add a shadow item that needs to be wielded or activated. If the item isn't carried then the event items don't drop. That way you could limit the event to a few hours a day for each player. Also players that don't want to do the event could skip it all together.
Maybe then NCsoft could actually increase the event drop rate to tolerable levels and make it enjoyable for more people.

I don't think there is a peak gaming time for this event. The event items seem to drop about as frequently (or infrequently, if you're a glass half empty type) when I play in the morning before going to work as they do when I get home in the evening.
WTB Zaken's Curse Event, WTB any event that doesn't involve collecting event drops, turning them into something else and hoping for something better. And, ofc, in typical NC style EVERY stage of this event has a risk of failure... WTG!!!

9pm-9:30pm EST certainly wasn't a great drop rate. Now perhaps that is a bit after whatever they consider prime-time....although I would think it would still constitute prime time on a NA server.
I went to Varka, found some bots that were not picking up the event drops, collected enough pieces to make 5 cakes. 1 cake failed, the others gave me 6 QHP (3+3), Dragon Bomber scroll and Unicorn scroll. Not a single cake transformed to the next stage though.
After 3 hours of lowbie xp on 1x mobs, I got almost a cake. First hour I got 1 ingredient, then it started to fall around midnight server time (18:00 on USA East coast). So I don't know what the hell is that legend about peak hours.
Fortunately, there were bots in the area and I got enough ingredients to make my cake and almost another.
Then next day I poled a bit more than one hour on my sub and I got nothing from Pronghorns, Ursus or Frost Buffalos. Finally I started to have a few things on gargoyles and completed again by bot drops.
So I completed 2 cakes and got a scroll of tranform (unicorn) and a couple of QHP.
I'm not jumping through the roof yet. NCsoft may be very generous to do this event, but I think it's logical to give a feedback so they do better instead of telling other players to shut up because in fact you fear they might be offended and stop making events. Which is irrational.
A good point is that the rewards don't suck as bad as the last pumpkin bashing with A crys and soul crys lvl 8.
You can tell that either the event drop rate is REALLY low or the cake transformation--> cool reward is REALLY low just by the market. I was hoping to see bunches of EWS shops selling for dirt cheap this week, but no such luck. Heck, I don't even see people dumping GHP for dirt cheap.
