The sad thing is that this is a report worthy event. It should happen on regular basis. If it does become that, then that's awesome.

Wow, I wish that ever happened to me at least once because the GM petition never worked for me; as matter of fact I've never seen one in my entire L2 life. I had Chinese farmers to talk with me tho >.>
I will be still reporting bots then,,, I've seen groups for weeks too in my server in the same spot. But they are a little smarter. I've noticed that around 09:15est. the entire group goes to a corner and dissapears. 3 minutes after that, another full bot group respawns in the same corner (different names). I think they bot on 8 hours shifts because by the time I get back from work I see the same group from the earlier morning botting in that spot. They will eventually dissapear the next morning at 09:15est and I have entire whole 3 minutes just for me.... wwwwoooooooooootttt!!!

I'm sorry but I find this hard to believe. Very recently spam actually said that it will be very rare that a GM will show themselves and if they do it will be in exceptional circumstances.
What was the GM's name? I bet spam would love to know.

The names of the GM's looks like this:

If the site spends 20$ each time an account is banned.. and if they spam like that in every server.. one of the euros will probably give them more proffit.

I think that By Banning at the top of the list ---(Hero's)--- you may get a huge reaction. Farmers and boters who are in it for Real profit Are the main concern I agree, But what about the "Hero's" who are recorded, reported, petitioned yet still run around all shiny like letting all the servers know that boting is ok....

Any GM who would normally talk to a player would have == in their name. I wouldn't suppose this GM regularly talks to people in game, but as per Spam's post he had to make himself aware to the player in order to prevent them from killing more bots. Although the community are helping, I guess this is a sign that people should stop killing bots in Catacombs if they want the GM's to continue their job.
I know it's hard to comprehend to allow the bots to continue botting, however it's been made clear in this thread that in order for the GMs to do their job, we need to leave the bots to continue botting.....
Also, try creating a character with GM at the beginning. I'm guessing one of two things would happen. 1] it would error 2] you'd get a namechange e-mail a few days later.
Glad to hear some action being taken (finally). Would like to see some more; it's impossible to get a decent size entry level room at Devotion on Phoenix cos of these groups, all of which I've reported multiple times. You go red on one and it's rezzed before you've had the chance to kill another.
yep they will still show listed everywhere even when banned so besides keeping an eye on hero shout or trying to pm them ingame for a few weeks there's no real way of confirming they're banned, for all you know they're all on a joint vacation etc..

The best part is PM then with things like "I can PK you, right? And then ress you and pk again, uh?" and never get any reply, then you hit and nothing. Then you hit again and nothing. Then you report and nothing :P

That's not really a fair question. I don't know any of the heroes on the server I play on very well. And those that are enemies of me I pretty much just assume they bot. On any other server I don't even know who the heroes are.
I bet there are legit ones. But it's a lot harder to know for sure that someone is legit than to know(/assume) that they are botting.
NCsofts policy about things like this is to always sweep everything under the rug. That's why you don't hear about bug abuse, botting, exploits, etc. NC hope we'll never know about the problems and never when they're fixed either.

While most may agree with you. but I believe that GM should be visible and GM on rotation. People are more likely to fear a visible GM because first, if they sit in town and log out, means botter and leechers wont get exps for that day. and GM on different hours which probably covered almost a day staying online. this tactics will eventually make them to start exping by hands instead of leeching and bot group benefiting the owner.
this method is probably will work to reducing bots and it is better than an invisible gm where you may never know if they ever log in. therefore botter take the assumption and start botting. invisible gm may mean that they probably dont work that day we may never know that.

I agree that would be unprofessional/unseemly in ordinary times, but these are not ordinary times.
The game has been severely damaged (not dead... yet) by cheaters, in order to save the game extraordinary measures must be taken. The first step is to make sure the current legit userbase is going to stick around, which means not only banning thousands of accounts but making sure that this action is visible and tangible to the target audience. If you look around these forums you will see that even the biggest fans of the game are considering if there is a point to playing in the current environment. NCSoft needs to address these people first.
Having said that, having a GM logged on each server and in the list would be a grand step toward that goal. Sort of expensive to have someone the the offices of NCSoft watching these accounts but the presence on the list of even a soulless GM would cause some disruption to the cheaters.
Well the thing that drives me crazy is that NC Soft is usually so dang worthless that people are in catacombs botting with their clan tags on and they don't get banned.
I reported 2 full parties last night, I will be checking to see what happens to those groups. They were clanned, too, with a bright shiny clan emblem.
It's not hard to see where the abuse is. I hear some of the heroes (and other memebers of their clan/ally) on Luna are already at like 84-85. If that says "haha, I so friggin' legit it hurts" then someone needs to really consider getting a new job ;)
I'd definetely vote for a visible GM all the time. But not a visible/absent GM. One that wonders around aden visiting and checking all the zones. I'd gladly do that job. He could be like a NC PR guy, talking to ppl and banning botters., wether they are heroes or little dwarves getting deleveled in Orc Village hitting guards... over and over and over again. That's be awesome.

You apparently don't play on Sayha...The point? Botting does not make Hero's, organization through the Olympiad, Raids and so on is what gets Heros.

(1) No, what destroys ppl in sieges are the differences in lvl and gear (and maybe the highend buffs/dances + enchanted skills), try same lvls/gear and tell me again if your "organisation" helps you then, i highly doubt it.
1 group with higher lvl + gear + buffs > 6-7 groups with lower lvls + gear + buffs..., not organisation.
(2) Hero's also because of lvl difference + gear + passing points, which of the last one should get fixed somehow.
(3) Yes, it's a screenshot of ppl exping, but would ppl actually controlling their toons 100% be able to leave every arrow on the ground while still picking up the rest of the drops fairly quickly? No...

banning 8x is coolest: NC get income for their 1-84/85 (it take some months(?) even if they bot) and they cannot pvp with legit A graders so NC & Players are happy :)

Yeah, if you by "most organized" mean large scale organized cheating, then yes they are certainly organized.
It's not hard to get hero, destroy people in sieges, win oly, or do raids when you're all 85, with S80 and ++weapons. In L2 Gear and level > all else. Nova botted to get to the top, and that's the crux. You can't get away from that.
And if you really think those 6 parties of 9 in the SS are just happily exping there without walking you are either dumb or completely blind. You can't fool anyone else into believing it.

There's no setting on your client that makes you automatically not pick up arrows, like what is going on here.
I will give all due props to Nova for organization.
It takes some dedication, discipline and practice to run an Oly as well as HebrewHammer does. He does a masterful job at gaming the (admittedly horrible) system. Given the "design" of the Oly system, Nova works it to their benefit month after month. The fact that we don't have and Oly system that is resistant to such gaming is not Nova's fault, they play by the rules and know how to make it work for the clan.
Kinda like gaming the IRS.
Same goes for epic raids. The organization to be ready and waiting when a boss spawns, let alone the power to actually win the encounter speaks very well of the Nova organization. I don't know who runs that aspect of the operation, but to whoever that is, well done.
On the question of botting heroes, both are kinda right. Botting does not make heroes, but it underlies the ability to dominate Oly as Nova does. The rare honest fight in Oly couldn't be as dominated by Nova without their higher levels and ridiculous skill enchants. I heard in Hero chat that at least one Nova hero has two (at least) +17 skills.
Don't know what level that hero is, but even if its 76, generating 17 skill enchants requires more XP/SP/Adena than could possibly be acquired legit. Just off the top of my head, 17 x 2% xp is 34% if it all worked first time and didn't have to start over. The chance of that is mind numbingly small so figure this level 76 hero had to generate about 50-100 times the xp from 76->77 just to be in the ballpark of a lucky strike result. Let's not even talk about the SP required.
I know some amazing weisenheimer will say, "but they used the Giants Book -- Mastery". Pish-posh. At 200-400kk (maybe more, maybe less) each and no guarantee of working, how would one get that many of the books as a legit player? Especially that last 100 or so books that it could take to get Level 17 alone.
So, it seems unlikely that a legit player could get a main to level 76 (lowest possible for Oly) and generate enough XP/SP/Adena to enchant a skill to +17, let alone 2 or more?
Also, just how many Heroes are only level 76?
The idea that the open botting that Nova engages in does not virtually guarantee every hero slot is nonsense.
Also, one other thing. The scripter Nova uses for their bots should also be commended. Very nice job.
I guess I missed my point. It is not relevant what level it is, the XP/SP/Adena required is outside my range of "willing suspension of disbelief".

If that is real, i.e. not photoshopped or set up, it illustrates my point exactly.
Problem is... I think it is a fake. Just because I don't think that even a 24/7 soulless player could possibly earn enough XP/SP to make all those enchants given the level (85) and the sheer number of double digit enchants. The XP/Hr rate must be so high that it would not be attainable given the amount of "real time" that those features were available.
The Adena wouldn't be a problem cuz the number of trains and adena sellers make at least the cash plausible.
If course, I'm just a lowbie non-factor carebear that couldn't possible fathom end-game achievements. :P
I wouldn't underestimate the speed of 24/7 Hellbound grinding.

Draecke says that 82+ toon can make 10% a day. Leveling out XP table so my 6502 brain can deal with the numbers let's say that 10% is constant from Level 80 to Level 85. Its not, but for sanity's sake let's play.
Hellbound first existed on PTS on 10/16/2008, I don't find the announcement when it actually went live on Sayha but lets use the PTS date for giggles.
That means that a Level 80 toon (the level cap at the time) would take about 250 days at that rate. Real time since PTS launch is around 110 days. This also assumes that all the subclasses were never leveled after the launch of Gracia Part 2.
This example gives every assumption in favor of Mr. Amazing. Not Possible.
This example also does not include the 100+ skill enchants that is claimed. That would add another 100+ days to the project IF every attempt at the skill enchant worked first time (and took no time away from leveling to see the enchant NPC).

Yet TabbiMae doesn't lack in logic and it match with the reality. Anybody can try to mine the reliability of Tabbi's statement, but you can't deny it's logic. At least someone who plays lineage and get a real insight of the game engine will agree with.
Yet it doesn't match the reality at all. Those levels and skill enchants are the reality.
And yes sometimes when you enchant your skill it resets, so you have to do it over, and yes if you want to do it "safely", it costs you even more xp/sp. I've heard people on TS saying they spend like 80% of their lvl 81 in skill enchant at one time. It hurts, but it's a few weeks of botting. That's why it's available to botters and not to legit players.

And of course your date is wrong. Hellbound had already existed at the time of Sayha creation, for more than half an year.
Its good to see GMs to do their work.I have get assist from them many times from them at my petitions last almost 4 years i play this game.
Some times they are slow,some times u will not get exactly what u expect but who gets that all time?
But what about when they are complete wrong and they force players to quit game?
Two weeks ago,a friend of mine,and clan m8,got banned.It was a big shock for us,cause we play at Luna,the heaven of bots,and we run one of the very few legit clans there(bot= kick from clan and no way to get back).
So we was try to find out why he got banned,he start his petition at support center to figure out why he got banned.After the normal questions and replys to prove that his the original owner of the accounts,the first shock came.
They told him,2 days before the ban,he transfer a tallum heavy set and a tate set from an account that it was just transfer to Luna to another account without getting anything back(adena,other items).Both accounts was play all times from same IP.
When he told us that,we start laughing at vent.It is hilarious,banned cause he trade gear between his accounts?Can be real?
And we all relaxed about that,we say ok,just tell them and prove to them that all accounts are urs and will see very fast their mistake.Tbh we was thinking to search for a way to get something back from this,i mean,he was banned by their mistake,he couldnt play for some time by their mistake,so they should find a way to repay that.
And time start to pass,and evry day we ask him,any news?And the answer was no news yet.We tell him,give them a call,to make things run faster,and he did,but not big help from that either.
And finally,last night,after 10 days of waiting,they answer him.

Good fight NCsoft and GMs,continue do this marvelous job and provide us a game that is a place only for botters.
I'm guessing he was account sharing? You normally don't get banned for that, but if they were investigating items being moved and noticed different IP's accessing the account from different locations, that may have been enough to get him banned.
I think all he can try to do is to show them more proof that he owns both accounts. It might not help if he shared his accounts with someone else though.
I trade stuff between my accounts every day.. and never got banned. Even few days ago.. I traded 14 EWS (Market monopoly FTW!) to my "no name" seller dwarf, lvl 6...
Maybe the other account wasn't under his name? Who knows..maybe a given account? Or in the worst case scenario.. a bought account?

The worse is that it's so common to all the kind of customer support, on internet or IRL... you get insulted before even knowing what the guy wants!
Here's more math for you:
For each (or each few) skill enchant lvl(s); the XP/SP amount needed increases and the success rate decreases, but success rate increases the closer you get to caplvl (85).

Maybe i am just another cry baby,or maybe when i see the effords of some people to actually play this game go waste in no time and for no reason i start question my self if it still worthy to continue try.
P.S. He is the original owner of both accounts,and he already send them all the info for that(first activasion code,the credit card that he used to open the accounts etc).
Back OT and as a follow up to my earlier post on this subject, thanks to the GMs for cleaning up Devotion - been able to get an entry level room all week, which has been great. A new crew has colonised the adjoining room, but at least they aren't taking 3 rooms simultaneously now. Kudos, and keep it up!
EDIT Seems I spoke too soon :( Went in today and every single first room botted out. Killed several of them in the back enclosed room, but couldn't kill them all before they rezzed each other, leaving me with over 3k of karma to work off (using their party to do it; made over 1k of bone spoiling their mobs too heh). Took freakin ages too ^^
NCsofts policy about things like this is to always sweep everything under the rug. That's why you don't hear about bug abuse, botting, exploits, etc. NC hope we'll never know about the problems and never when they're fixed either.
It's not to say sweeped under the rug. We pay to play, meaning we are the players of the game, not the one's who provide the service. NCSoft doesn't want us to have to hear about all this stuff that goes on. That's why they get paid to deal with it, not us. Yes, we do sometimes take matters into our own hands & deal with it (killing bots etc) However, sometimes stuff like that makes the GM's jobs so much harder. Everyone has rules to follow. As much as you think, it's easy to just swoop in with the ban hammer, it's not. They want to make sure the people they are banning are not legit, or else legal matters always come in to save the day, and that would suck for them. :(

Lol, yes I'm sure that's how it works. They walk around & just ban anyone they see in town or out of town. Thats why it's SO EASY to send a petition out & get a live/real GM who answers. ;)
I have to confirm that I was really surprised when I logged after long L2 pause. Low lvl cata and favourite exp places not occupied by bots.
