Well after a very long vacation, I thought I would come back and see whats new.
Im wondering; though I would guess most of you that have stuck in there the whole time wouldn't know, if the 16 hours it is taking for me to update and check files is normal?
I knew that it was going to take some time to update, since its been so long. So I started it when I went to bed, and it was just finishing when I got up, around 7 hours. I then soon discovered that I had to do a file check, and that is still going (almost 10 hours) later!
Anyone know what the bandwith is for the updater? Im guessing fairly low. I had downloaded an entire game for beta (12 gigs) in 3 hours just a few months ago...
Anyhow looking forward to getting back in, but need to kill some time, so I thought I would post this question/comment.
Welocme back! And yes, L2 changed a lot and a LOT updates came out. Thats why maybe you need hours and hours to update. Just download the most recent client which is Gracia Part II and the problem should be vanished ;)
btw, which client you have installed for this takes so long? O.o'
Let the updater work its magic. Not sure when you started your sabbatical, and don't know if you're on DSL, Cable or Dial up service, but it can take a very long time in some cases.
As for whether or not it's worth it, you might as well read the forums while you wait to get up to speed re: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of L2. :D
Yes, fileplanet is a good place to download the newest L2 client. Uninstall your old client and delete all folders from it, download the newest version Gracia Part II, install it and the update maybe takes 10min or less ;)

Well that is my bad...I wish I would have known that 24 hours ago, at 80% down loaded now, and I really dont want to start over agian.
I see that Seighart is no more and from the looks of things Im on Sayha now...when I left the charecter transfer between servers was just comming available. Guess I got that for free.
Any Pointers in the forums (which threads) would be good to look through for new info, that I wouldn't know? I had played since beta before my hiatus, now I feel like a newb all over agian.

Try to take everything you read on these forums with a grain of salt. It kills me to see all the posts from whiny, prepubescent water heads.
Make friends ingame as fast as possible. Nice people are everywhere. Find a clan with a vent/ts and get to socializing. This is the best way to avoid becoming hateful and bitter and eventually just quitting again. After you make over 9000 posts a day letting us all know just how bad it is and what can be done to fix it of course.

LOL thanks for the advice...and I'm sorry to say, you won't hear any whinning out of me. I may ask for help or advice, but I don't spew my complaints for all the world (forum)...just keep them bottled up till I blow!
Well after a 22 hour update and file check I was finnally able to get in, and I am happy to say I am very impressed. Some great changes made to inspire, or at least not drive away new players. Love the buffs to 62 deal, wish that would have been around 2-3 years ago.
Common gear is a huge improvement for new players as well. Must have really hurt the farmer War Smiths, as well as others Im sure. The others I feel for, but not the Bot/Farmer/Adena Sellers WS.
Anyways I am having fun agian, and I really didn't think that was possible, So I am impressed with the changes made so far.
