lol. you are a cynic Trensharo. No way they should remove the skills. Once you have them, they are yours. But those who dont have the skill, level, or don't have the book will not be able to get them until 83, is all.
I may be wrong..but i read somewhere that you get the SP back which you spend on those...but i may be completly wrong and confusing this issue with a nother one.
no sp for those skills
they should just remove the skills from all the ppl that have them now and replace them with the book so they can relearn when they are 82/3
If they don't bring parity to all 'like' skills, it's just another example if NC screwing with whatever little balance their game actually has.
Oh my learn level on said skill is 81. Mine is 83.
How the hell can this be quantified as anything but a stupid decision? Giving people who don't have the skills a free +2 just because they got there late/legit and screwing the natural balance of the skill enchant system is just wow...
These people need to be fired. While it potentially screws over botters, which is cool, it messes up the game system which is far more important for consistency. How any designer worth their salt can not appreciate that is beyond me.
I personally fell sorry for all the people who already have the 81 skills...

Although, if the books were put in inventory, that wouldn't be so bad. Those books are harder than hell to get. However, I don't see them removing already learned skills.
They put a notice "bot moar lol" in the inventory too because they are funny, aren't they ?
I'm curious how many chars are 83+ because after all the next update is dedicated to them
Actually I know a nice group of people, perfectly legit, that are 83+. Most of them play a lot, true. But please, can we stop with the tedious associations of high levels with botting. It's a little boring. In fact, I'm almost 82, and depending on when Final comes out, I could be 83 by then. I really want the bishop skill that's been reported.

yeah thats the problem
it's not that it's hard to get to 81 but i could have been 81 for the past 6 months and still not have a book while anyone with a credit card could go out and buy em at 6x in the hopes that years down the track they might ding and be able to use it
really really bad game design imo

You did the association. The point is how many players reached it. I don't care if bobshappyfarm.com has a bot train of lvl 85.
If there are only a dozen, then NCsoft is clearly saying "bot moar".
What, that wasn't your insinuation? So it's all me? Come on.
I'm not denying there are high-level players that were botted up there, however, it is the natural evolution of the game to have the number of players at the highest levels much fewer than the median. And there are those that have gotten there without "assistance."
Can somebody explain to me this:8hours sleep,8hours work and lets say 8hours play L2.
How the hell out someone can go by pressing F1,F2, for 8 hours(optimal) continiously, form 79lvl to 83lvl?I know some who are allready 84lvl.
HOW? When you said in another post that 79--->80 requires at least 2 billions of exp and raising on next lvls.
Do you know something that we don't know?
You do realize that some places in this game, especially at higher levels produce so much XP per hour, that it's not all that surprising? End Game Clans XP in these areas, hence why it's not all that shocking to see some classes 82+ at this point in the game, without that much more time being played. So many assumptions made by people who haven't even experienced some of these areas.
Jyrki is right, and he knows the something that Sousourada doesn't know: There are places on HB where, at 81, the average mob is 125K xp. There are also 180k xp mobs. If I spend a Saturday or Sunday there, I can make around 5-7% xp. It just takes a little dedication and a group that has all the right classes in it with all the right skills.
I think the main problem with current 81 skills, was that books dropped only from epic raids, so only very few people could have them. A toon of lvl 81 would never be able to get those skills if they were not in a dominating clan, and even then they should w8 in line for their turn. So with the changes anyone will be able to get the passive skills at 81 without any book, which is a huge change. Then at the theoretical lvls of 82 and 83 you could get the skills without the books or from easier drops.
Maybe they could find a solution by keeping the books dropping from epic raids and keeping all the skills learnable at 81 with those books, while you can still learn the skills without a book at 82 and 83.
81 is in my mind out of reach of the average player and will still be after 1 year or so. I have met and partied with only 4 lvl 80 and around 10 lvl 79 toons in my 2 years playing L2.

Well that's why........... I've never made more than 2% by playing all day at 81.
NaNa can do 8% in 6-7 hours at lvl 80 with 3 supports oop, and that as a dorf!I'm talking about a full party of live players that make that xp each, with a slight variation equal to leavel. Not you being the only one gaining XP with oop support.
[Everyone has their pet peeve. I have a little pissy attitude towards people that regularly XP with OOP support when there are plenty live players out there lfg. That's my little peeve.]

I don't mind that the books are rare, and see nothing wrong with an dominating alliance being able to control that to give themselves an advantage over their enemy. It is a competitive game after all.
That looks like light armor though. Where are the robes????? but I must say there will be little ANYone can do to stop me from getting a cape!! Woot. Those are awesome :D

says the cardinal
seriously man when dorfs are wanted in end game parties even 1% as much as your OP class then you can complain about ppl boxing a billion support so they can get a fraction of the xp you get

a party was going to IT and I asked them if they wanted a lvl 77 WS or a 63 BD...guess what they answered (hint: it was not WS).
starting that BD from lvl 1 was a hard desition after all the years I have spent into lvling the WS.
I guess many of you are asking why I just didn't sub a BD and the answer to that is that the sub can't go past lvl 80 (like that is ever gonna happen before L3 gets released :p) and as a WS I can't change sub to main when the payed service comes.

think thats bad once i responded to a shout for a WC for HB and i offered to have my dorf in party while i had the wc and bd out and they said it was ok if the bd and wc were in if i didnt bring the dorf ><

Well, technically a WS has a use in IT pole party.

It's not that BD has (or is expected to have so far) any 81+ skills worth learninig.

Ouch. hahahah rocked.
Still yes, exp is primarily based on what class you play. Some classes are simply SOL.
We invited a Maestro to party with us at our HB XP spot. We were stunned to discover that he could spoil the mobs... We got Arcana Mace heads (a lot of them) and a few other things. So, yeah, might not be a bad thing to include one :D
PS I leveled until 60 with a dorf :D <3 Pinky****!!!

Like I said. We were all pretty shocked!!! We have two Maestros in clan. The first night we brought one... and he was the one who managed to do the spoiling. I think we got about 15 Arcana Mace Heads. The second night our other Maestro came, but was unable to spoil anything much. They haven't figured out what made the difference yet.
last i checked spoil land rate capped at 5% regardless of lvl so yeah if you want to spoil a mob 20 times you do have a reasonable chance to land it as a WS

Unfortunatelly,i don't see HB,crowded,and all the 79+ exp there.
That means, that having a good rate of exp at these lvls, instead of killing mobs that give you much more exp than the usuall, you have to be logged in 24/7.
At least is what i see happening in DO,FP,MOS,PAGANS & IOP.
Just because you don't see the places crowded doesn't really mean much, sousourada. HB is a place of competition right now, and on most servers the dominating clan works hard to make it locked down to only their clan and "friends." So, if you don't get that xp, ya, you are going to have to go to the other places that just don't give good accummulative xp.
Besides, most of the really high XP areas are in places you can't get to without finishing certain quests.

I HATE it when ppl ask me to spoil. (on my WS main ofc)

Calm down, Gigls... No one asked him to spoil. He just decided to give it a try, and 3 Arcana Mace Heads dropped :)

Might have been lvl difference. Back in the day when I was lvling my spoiler, I kept hearing of a warsmith close to the current lvl cap being able to spoil mobs on a semi-good basis, just based on his lvl compared to the mob.
A lower lvl spoil would have a much lesser chance to land on a mob, but I'm guessing the hellbound mobs arent insta-killed and therefore he has enough time to land spoil every now and then.
Given the spoilrate of mobs on hellbound are way higher than those off hellbound, its plausible it would be worthwhile to bring a maestro.
Ofc bringing a Fortune seeker would ensure more potential extra mats etc... but it would also mean less dps, as FS dont have the bucket summon :D
like i said before last i checked the minimum spoil rate was 5% and if nothing has changed since i was making 10 mil a day spoiling maj jewel recs up at fod vamps there is no reason a WS can't land spoil if they want to spend 90% of their time there spamming it
