Help with AW skills

Dark Elf Classes Started Last reply 16 posts
Hi I just got this game and I am pretty new to how daggers(AW,PW,TH) work. I was wondering is there a certain setup or sequence of attacks to initiate a lethal strike. i was also interested in what macro people use for this class(AW) if any at all. Any help you guys can give me would be appreciated.:)
lethal strikes happen at random. speculation is that they occur with more frequency when you increase Dex, but no conclusive proof has been shown.
if Im not mistaken, Lethal% is based on strength, not dex. Up your strength if you wanna hit harder, and lethal more often. Up your dex if you wanna swing faster, crit more, and dodge more. Im pretty sure a dagger with -9str will lethal once in a blue moon, less damage per swing, but swing faster and stab/tink crit more often. BOTH stats are important to a dagger
Ty for the insight, are there any combination of moves that increase DPs or a certain combination of moves people prefer for pve mobs(lvling from 40/70)?
I'm pretty sure Lethal goes by chance, and it can be increased with mortal strike i think, (and evasion chance for elves :p). I've only heard that with high STR ur skill CRITS will be more often, like crit backstab or crit deadly etc.
um... maybe im kinda noob, but whats lethal strikes?

Is that what the "Half Kill!" things are?
Incorrect, Mortal Strike is a buff and was designed to replace might mortal SA. Mortal Strike was ingame long before Lethals. Mortal Strike is what makes AW better than TH, its not that it makes us stab harder, its that our stabs are 66% more likely to land then nerfed to 44%, still a noticable boost.

if you can, find 1/2hp non aggro mobs (like the ones around goddard) make sure you are behind the opponent as striking from behind yields like 20% damage bonus to any physical attack, Mortal Strike and go on a stabbing FRENZY during the 1 minute of mortalstrike, the next 2 miniutes or so of downtime while waiting for it to recharge, slow down pick stuff up, save mp, sit down ? Usually it works out beatifully because you kill so fast that during that 1 minute of stab-fu you'll get greater/superior mp pots, by the way daggers are the most qualified looters in the game we're like ninjas.

imho Dexterity is NOT the magical be all stat that you might think it is, Daggers have 3 main stats Str/Dex/Con notice how all 3 are inter-related? raise one and the other goes down. I've experimented quite a bit with this, having high dex makes you an awsome stabber, higher strength raises your damage yield in general, there are 4 possible outcomes from a stab miss, hit, critical, 1/2kill, and lethal. miss/hit/crit comes from dex, while 1/2kill and lethal are str based. AW have the lowest dex of all daggers landing us the title a miss walkers (ty for mortal strike ncsoft)

The various combinations are somewhat funny, like a lethal MISS, the stab itself missed and did 0 damage, but activated lethal effect and left the target with 1hp.

You will hear people say DEX DEX DEX! and those people are most likely TH/PW cheering at their highest stat. In that regard TH statistcally have more dex/con than AW, but lack the skills of assination (Mortal Strike/Focus Death*aw have higher strength*) instead TH focus on running away, faking death, and being in the right place at the right time

You really didn't say that TH has more dex than AW...

AW has 1 dex less than PW,how can AW have the least dex regarding daggers?

and i wasnt rly sure about what mortal strike does but from what i've seen personally i do more lethals when i have mortal strike up(both cp-only,and cp-hp) rather than i dont have it up...dunno might just be coincidence tho...

also how can u be sure lethal is affected by STR? the higher the STR the higher chance to make A CRITICAL on ur Blow/physical skill. if im not mistaken Tyrants and gladiators are a brand example of how STR works...never heard of STR affecting lethal tho so if its not DEX then its totally random...
Oops sorry that was my mistake, I confused TH higher crit rate, and faster attack speed with higher dex this is not true
you didn't answer my question.

Whats a lethal strike? I have a 61 aw, and the only thing I"ve noticed is these 1/2 kill things, which seem mostly useless
Lethal Strike:

Effect 1: At a low probability, it lowers monsters’ HP by 50% and players’ CP to 1.
Effect 2: At an extremely low probability, it lowers monsters’ HP to 1 and players’ CP and HP to 1.

Half kill takes half the remaining HP. Why would you think that is useless? Fewer hits to kill a mob = more kills over time = more xp over time.
because when they are at 200 hp, and I wanted to overhit I would end up half-killing and have to swing again.

Since then, I've found out why I am always ending up short on SP, and avoided overhitting while I hunt.. But still it shouldn't be taking half their hp when a normal hit would kill them.

I've never had it lower monsters hp to 1... Can you Lethal Strike a mop? Or just players?
mortal strike has nothing to do with might mortal and blow landing rate nor lethal kills, it increases the chance for a blow type skill to land as a crit making more dmg (more or less same ways nuke's had magic criticals). the skill responsible for land rate is 78 lvl focus death. gf.
... who are u supposed to be talking to?
