Full Plate on Tyrant ?

Orc Classes Started Last reply 32 posts
Currently my Orc Monk is lvl 33 and moving fast to becoming a Tyrant and i heard somewhere that some are using Full Plate on them .. i have an enhanced set of Full Plate already totaling +13 .. Is this a real viable option or should i get light armor ??
go Plated leather instead. you can use it all the way to 62ish
anything heavy on a tyrant just slows you down... but if u make a destroyer inthe future full plate ++++ would be awesome
Dont bother with C grade questions. 40-52 is like 5 days of casual exp at best. Wear anything you already have, can get cheap or at no cost.
Get Plated Leather, but most players would not try using it all the way to 62. The damage you take starts getting rather high in some places. Personally, I ended up getting a BW light armor set at around 55 or 56.
Use Plated leather is good, but in stead of BW light, get Doom light. You'll see so much more of a different...BW light is not trying gear. In A you have two options depends on which set-up you went... either DC light or NM light. I used DC from like 62-68 but from 68-76 i used NM...liked the NM better.

Crap.

C grade - whatever. PL can be good since you can use it later on. FP is not so bad either, but no point making a big fuss about a gear you'll be wearing a week...
B grade - BW HEAVY. DON'T bother with ANY light - no even half decent light B gr set for tyrs
A grade < 68 - contine with BW HV or get tal hv (you can use it later too)
68-79 - PL/tal hv all the way. If you can afford you can consider Drac light

PS. PL light strategy 68+ is only valid before G:Final
Tyrant get no Hvy set bonus compared to the Light. If you want to use HVY why bother to learn your light arm mast. There is none, HVY is worthless on a tyrant. I never once used HVY in my way to xp. I know the PL at 68 is a good idea, to help w bison, but in G final Bison=gimp so you might want to rethink that strgy. But if you want to lvl a tyrant the right way.. ONLY USE LIGHT ARMOR. You get more benfits from it.

Seriously what does 'Tyrant get no Hvy set bonus' got to do with anything? Same pdef but you're geting a nice +str bonus instead of some ******ed -str +dex from doom light. You also loose a little acc with hv. Again so what? Fists have the highest acc already and amost every totem gives more acc. -10 run speed is nothing in PvE and -evasion is neglectible since tyrants don't use it. And with statements like 'HVY is worthless on a tyrant' you're gonna be a blah-superstar in no time.

PS. How can you give advices about light/hv on a tyrant when (and i quote) 'I never once used HVY in my way to xp' ? It's not only stupid but also rude.
PS2. GK don't have a pole mastery either but every single hero GK out there have a cancel stick. Does that mean that they don't know how to play their classes too?

Lots of classes you cancel stick...cancel buffs of many people at a time.... rather than one at a time with fists
I have to agree with the argument for heavy. Tyrants are a class that are pretty versatile and you can put heavy or light on them. A majority of tyrants go DC light at A grade, some go NM light. I personally used DC light at first, then switched between Maj and Tallum heavy sets for xping depending on where I was. Getting light armor masteries will come back into play when you're back in drac, so its not a waste of sp.
Tyrant were build to use light armor. Reguardless if they get a little extra pdef does not make much of a different. The tyrant would be losing what makes them great. The reason im only 7x im working on my sub also. I did 73-76 in like 2 weeks, using NOTHING but light armor, and not hvy. Every tyrant i know and talk to, has never used hvy, so its not just me. What does a cancel stick have ANYTHING to do with light or hvy armor. We are not talking about that...you dont need a polearm mast, do use the cancel stick in pvp 4 a bit to cancel buffs. So that statement has nothing to do with the topic we are talking about.

Tyrants are suppose to be fast... That is why LIGHT armor is the best... There is this SKILL you get at 20 while you just have become a MONK it is called AGILE MOVEMENT this SKILL increases your accurracy and movement while wearing LIGHT armour. The main FACT is you do not get any HEAVY armour masteries you only get LIGHT armour masteries.

For those who say Heavy they have never learned how to use their SKILL proper on a tyrant.... The Whole thing about Tyrants is speed... speed is your friend as a tyrant not HEAVY armour... ALL heavy armour only gives you PDEF... If you just wanna go to places where your not suppose to go where you need extra pdef go ahead where Heavy... BUT if you wanna be a GREAT tyrant Use the skills you receive Light armour is way better....

IN the end it is YOUR preference try both out become experience in the one you like best.... but if you really wanna wear heavy maybe you should be a destroyer.... ;p
totems=speed?

CONFIRM

and look at the set bonuses on the heavy armor... they dont just give extra pdef... kthx
I use Common Heavy and it works fine. :P

Used PL up to 61 then switched.
im thinking of Majestic+newOgre for pvp and pve.
yes armor itself has bonuses but tyrants get extra bonuses for light armour not heavy
Go ahead use even robes if you like just don't tell other people to make the same mistake you are

if he find a way to work the robe hey good for him....

Use what is best for you IN the end it is you working the orc not the ppl who try to advise you to try and get you to do it their way...

be the best dang tryant out there and know your skills to boot! that is what will be your win in the end not the armour

Welll the robe set was no mistake. I've managed to find robe setup to work in a mid 60 spot just fine. My point was that tyrs don't get robe masteries, but still you can wear robes and be succesful. Stating that tyrants HAVE TO wear light armors is just wrong.
its not wrong to state the obv. Tyrant are BEST in light, even if you can make robes or hvy work, the tyrant is BEST in light. Everyone has there own opinon on this matter, but if you want to know the BEST arm for a tyrant then its DEFF LIGHT and not hvy or robes.

Thank you very much....
Not to belabour the point but i can't afford the regular armor and so i have to use Common. Imo Common Heavy is better than Common Light. This is with 64EE and 62 WC Buffs.

Cyr's point is that repeating that Light Armor is the best for Tyrants doesn't make it right.
Just look what you have to learn as a tyrant what armour mastery do you learn then you will know what is BEST for tyrant...
if any class could use any armor, then why make the masteries. People pick class based on lots of different things. Like people hate a tank because they are slow lvling and such. A tyrant in HVY would be like that since they lose the basic aspect of them with the light armor. The tyrant with light armor, gets increase movement, atk spd i believe and the edvasion. Hvy armor is meant for certain class, that gets bonus from them. Why use a armor that you wont benfit from, only hurt from?

you gain only +1 evasion and +20 runspeed.

laughably overcomeable by the bonuses of heavy.

Pdef in clean tallum heavy 990, Pdef in +3 DClightSET with Greater shield, 790.

useless to stay in light unless you were going for some built-in VR or needed heavy para-resist.

if i had to question what heavy armor i would take it would be between Tallum heavy or Maj heavy. given the new effects of Ogre and Rabbit, i'd say Maj+Rabbit for aoe tanking and Tallum+Rabbit for 1party raids.

really tempted to trade for a maj set just to see the difference.
I would get a plated leather set for C and B grade (cheap to buy from Giran and the attack bonus can save you some shots down the road). Towards upper B grade I agree it can get a bit tough, but just play a little more carefully and I don't think it'll be much of a problem.

As for A grade I'd definitly agree there are a ton of options between light and heavy (never tried robes). Tallum heavy gives some nice pdef and atk speed bonuses. Great if you aren't doing a ton of running. DC light gives you your run speed and some good atk damage, but not as much pdef. Personally, I love maj light for exp in hot springs. Plus it gives you more pdef than DC, altho lacks in attack bonuses. And keep in mind majestic and NM can get a pvp aug :) Maj light's stun resistance is great in pvp as well. And the extra mp and weight bonuses :)

But... this whole thread was supposed to be about C grade I believe... so my answer is PL set. :D
Why use a armor that you wont benfit from, only hurt from?

I believe that is one of the most uneducated things I have heard all year.
Its funny how people think that heavy armor is BEST for what is suppose to use LIGHT armor. Kinda of sad how you can compare a tyrant in hvy arm to a tyrant in light and call them the same, when they are not. You get more skills for light armor then heavy. If you want to be in places you cant, then whatever. But you will get better xp and faster xp with light armor.

dude, wake the F up.

you get Light mastery and Agile movement.

hardly skills.

Light mastery only benefits you when youve enchanted it anyway AND have OE'd Draconic. and if youre going to talk about S grade lets not bypass S80 Warrior heavy as having a very awesome armor bonus for Tyrant.

dont discount PVPaugmented Majestic heavy.

are you the type of person that forces level 1 "future archers" to wear bow+light ? nobody who has any knowledge of these classes makes such a silly mistake. i actually found D grade to pass faster with oath heavy and a dagger than i did with fists as a monk.

again, dont talk about having Light armor Skills. there really arent any, discounting the obvious Light armor mastery +1.

Spud is right though

You have a little more speed, but less defense, and your evasion already sucks. DC light is good for DPS while Tallum heavy does better, NM is good for toughness and can be pvped, but lacks in dps and isn't much of an vr, although it kindof cancels out fistfury

Well i stopped reading alot of the comments cause it got ridiculous.

I know a few ppl who used heavy for aoeing, but still I would prefer light armor for when running around and if you run into any pvp. I never used heavy armor for aoeing. Never needed to, casue once i shot to lvl 46 you get ogre. I would just use rabbit/wolf for running and grabbing the mobs and ogre for when i got to corner. Plus it saves you from add un neccesarry weight to your inventory. But you use what you got and make the best of it. Hope this helped
