Guide For Lvling Wolves

Does anyone have a Walkthrough or Guide to Lvling Wolves from 15 - 70?
Hmm, summon it and grind as you would level normally?
Honestly, since they changed the experience gain for wolves from actually fighting themself to 10% of your aquired exp it's quite easy and straightforward, isn't it?

Only thing that comes to my mind is that you should be cautious about the mobs you fight. Aggressive mobs and mobs with AoE might kill your pet.
You are aware that the wolf will take 30% of your experiance gained?

So why do you need a guide?

My best tip is to keep it out of harms way untill it hits level 55. After this it will be able to take more hits before it dies.

Just go to areas you get good experiance and grind on. :)
Yeah it's fairly simple to level it.

Just remember to keep your wolf away from aggro / aoe mobs and you should be fine.

I have a char just for leveling up my wolf since i felt like the % it gained while leveling with my 76 character was not enough. so in my opinion you should have a char that is around the level of your wolf.

i go into catas with it so it gains xp and i gain ancient adena. i must say it's kinda nice to play like that. another thing that you could do is to take it to the kamaloka, raid bosses and pole parties place it at a safe spot and just do what you would do anyway ;)

hope that helps a bit
So wolf takes like 30% of your Exp and baby pet only 5% ?
Great Wolf takes around 30% yeah. Before, I believe it's 15%.

And there's no need for guides. It's like it was previously said, up to 55, save its butt cause it's squishy. After 55, try to afford gear for it (if you can't buy top gear, 40m will get you the third best armor/weapon and it's already enough, that's what I have on my wolf) and put it to attack with you. You'll kill mobs twice as fast and level both you and woof twice as fast.

It's like having your own party with a (somewhat squishier) melee friend with archer Patk (or more) all the time.
at 72 mine can pretty much tank in pagans, so it aint that squishy :p
(and I don't even have the best armor... )

I agree with others, there's no guide. The one thing I can suggest though, is to level it with many characters. Because of full vitality on the different characterse, it will level much faster.
1. Summon wolf
2. Make sure wolf has food
3. Target mob
4. Attack mob
5. ???
6. profit

repeat 2 every few minutes.
Ok, instead of making a new post I'll just ask my question here ^^

I asked myself the same question, how do you guys do to lvl your wolf?

Keep it safe? I tried but when a mob pops back after I killed it, it targets my wolf and kills it with one hit coz it's behind me I can't see when my wolf is in danger. So instead of gaining xp it does the opposite, now my wolf is 14... -_-' And to rez it every single time that he dies cost quite a lot...

Apparently, they take 30% of my xp... well it seems to me that it will still take quite a long time to lvl it...

In the end? Well, is it like you all said, there is no guide? Everyone has been through this? I guess I'll try my best, be really patient and careful. And hope that it will be worth it ^^
The only guide for wolfs is finding non-agro area's

20ish Abadoned camp, stay in area's with no commanders

30ish EG top right platform w/ bat's/strains

40ish orc's/bugbears near catacomb of forbidden path

50ish pavel ruins/forzen lab

Those are field hunting spots with no agro. It is also possible to lvl them in cata's just put them outside the room you are lvling in.

Kama's/ RB's are always good ways to lvl them

The pits at Pavel Ruins do not work well with wolves; I tried it. Above the pits, with the spiders, might work OK. But, yeah, at every level I've found places where the mobs are very aggro to the wolves, and places where I could hunt very safely with the wolves. You just have to do a little exploring.
catas are the best place hands down
So wolf takes like 30% of your Exp and baby pet only 5% ?

When the babypet becomes an improved it also starts to take 30%
I level my wolf anywhere I exp. MOS, IT, TOI, Pagans, FOTD, Hot Springs.

It is really as simple as they are making it out to be. Time is the only factor here.

Once they get that aoe debuff aoeing is that much easier :-P

Either keep it out of harm or be ready to re-aggro anything that is close to your wolf.

There should be a roller wheel on your mouse, which allows you to zoom back a bit. If there is no one, PgUp/PgDown (I think) will do the job.
To level a wolf without dying you need to really know the place and the mobs u hit. I am leveling my second wolf in pavel actually and it has only died once because of a crazy lag pike, but if you can foresee the mob spawn your wolf should be ok.

50s - North of Ivory Tower works ok.
I take it this also applies to other pets?
Ok thx, so I have to go non-aggro area then. I'm 23, someone mentioned the abandoned camp, where is it exactly (sorry I'm new ^^)? Other places I could go?
I would assume so.
Is it really worth levelling a wolf up and buying gear for it when it hits 55+?
I have no experience with pets at all, but I know how keen everyone is of wolves now :p Does the 30% leech that it takes really justify the speed at which you level? Will you definitely level faster with a wolf taking 30% then no wolf taking 0%? I'm going to make a WS from scratch and level one up if I hear it's worth it - a dorf-subbed-nuker is my next, new goal which should keep me inGame for a bit longer, but I want to know it will be worthwhile first with little wolfie as a friend. xD
I would say that it depends on your class. Buffers/summoners have a definate advantage with a wolf. Without buffs a wolf isn't so hot, but if you have an OOP buffer available with a melee DD it would work.

I can only speak from my experience playing WC with wolf. At 73 my fenrir has higher dps than my wc at same level. He helps me to kill more than twice as fast so even if he takes 30% it's still worth it.

...Plus it's a whole lot more fun to play with a wolf than solo. It's very satisfying to see him level with me :)

As a rough guide, when my pet went from 54 to 55 my dwarf that was levelling the wolf now gets leveled by the wolf. And it kills too fast to spoil on the same mobs.

If fact, now I just sit the dwarf down and just power level it with the wolf, and hope in a few more levels the dwarf will be used cause at the moment its only works like a leash.
But you have to be careful, Hal to not have the wolf kill the mob too far away or you and it will not get any xp.
Hey Guys!!!! I am glad to see friends on the Wolf thread!!!

Has anyone brought a Wolf to HB yet? I am wondering about that DOT. If you complete the quest does it affect the wolf as well?
it effects summons so i'd say yes

I am a DA with like +7 Talum blade (Haste) and tall set (so good dps) but wolf who is 3 lvls under me is like x2,5 more dps then me right now. so pretty much i could call our duo with oop buffs a wolf party with tank support :(
Just imagine that if my wolf dies were i hunt i need to ud to survive......

Some one on elybily net was speaking about a possible future transformation combination of some sort between master and pet, dam werewolf transform would be sooooooo coool.
That's the first I heard of it. What lvl does the wolf need to be?
Perlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllene.
I am playing since the luna oppening and i afforded 70 lvl fenrir(it got there 3-4 days ago ;D). I xped it with my spellhowler(main) till I bought its TOP gear at its 65-66 lvls. after that I used it to xp it with my spoiler.Just do spoil on the mob, press wolf attack, and wait till it dies, while it hits only the spoiler(5 sec max ^^)

Pet and Master must be in 9 or less lvls of range for maximum xp
I am currently leveling up 3 new toons, all on same account. So I take them out, and solo with a wolf, and from the low 20's my scav and wolf (with top wolf gear) can control a full room in the 20-30 Necro... withOUT DSS or beast shots. So I spoil the tar out of things, make loads of money, and level rather quickly.
Yes, but if you aoe you can control two + rooms :P but I would advise keeping the wolf out :P
