Destroyer setup.

Just recently subbed a Destroyer and was wondering what your setup is tat and gear-wise.

I plan on going all out damage and +STR to as much as I can considering I have a ton of HP already and I'm only lvl 49, but not sure if I should - CON or -DEX?

As for a weapon I have a +8 top b grade weapon so I might not need to bother with an A grade weapon, but armor I ain't sure which would suit me.

EDIT.. sorry, just saw the last post on this page has replies I'm looking for.. ><
Im using NM set and a +4 halberd.
+4 str, +5 dex, - 9 con and maj plate (best xp set up if u dont pole and pvp)
And if you pole?

+CON -DEX, Health weapon and ....????
Tallum ot Majestic??
My final setup, as a 77 Titan subclass, is NO tats. If you want to maximize xp, aoe. A Titan with decent buffs can aoe without heals, even at high level.

I started out with + str when I was low level, but as you get higher, having the extra 1k - 2k HP makes a difference because you start using frenzy and zealot a lot. I don't know what CT2.3 is going to do to the reuse time, but until then, make sure you use a Cursed Dagger /w risk haste to keep the refresh fast before skilling.
Tallum heavy

risk haste dagger
Tallum Glaive
common FM

I preferred Majestic Heavy, because at around 65-70 if you go to TOI or Catacombs, you can then deal with stunners instead of avoiding them. Also, the +3 accuracy helps with hitting mobs at or slightly above your level.
FM = ?

Does Tallum also quickens refresh of frenzy due to atk speed bonus?
Yes indeed it does. I've always tried to focus on a characters strengths when applying tats. The +4 dex -4 con does help...but it's not as significant as applying that same tattoo to a dagger or archer class. Especially if your concerned about getting stunned a fair bit. When I as in A grade I used just a +4 str -4 con tat, tallum heavy, dragon slayer with HP (infernal master wasn't in the game at the time) and had that polearm with haste (can't recall the name of it right now). I know a lot of people who use a HP polearm for aoe but I always preferred having the boost to attack speed (still have haste on my saint spear) because our class has a few buffs to resist stun, hold, etc.

Personally I wouldn't nerf dex unless your looking to just soak up damage in aoe. There is another class for that; Warlords. I never really was stunned so much during a pull but expect to have slow land at the worst of times. A slowed dest with -dex is basically a dead man walking if your out of range of your group.

One thing that I recommend getting the hang of as your grinding especially for people who have subbed either a dest or tyrant is to start managing your HP. Don't bother learning the actual amount of HP you need to be at to pop zealot, guts or frenzy. Instead pay attention to what 30% looks like as apart of the bar. I've known quite a few people who didn't enjoy being at 20 - 30% hp to effectively use the skills of a class. Also, it's not the healers fault you didn't pop frenzy when you could have. By saying managing your HP I'm not saying carry tons of hp pots, elixirs and the like. Start to manipulate your HP with gear and work out the kinks early for that. Even while pulling at the higher levels, there should be plenty of time for a titan to work their hp with gear to pop frenzy before the group of mobs catch up to them.
I planing to sub destro in far future. Had one titan long time ago (c4)
From mine exp: going -4con +4dex doesn't decrease much stun resistance, but significantly decrease frenzy/zealot/guts time. Of course full buffed. But it made exping/raiding more risky - less hp.

You should keep in mind, that now frenzy works differently than in c4. Meaning if you hp in creases - damage drops.

Hey, what about such setup: -5str +5dex??? Less damage per hit, but faster in run speed, and more hits per time...

Comments.
I have a couple of Destroyers...the highest is 52 so i really don't know what i'm talking about in the higher levels. Anyways from what i've seen they hardly ever Crit and are really slow. Their saving grace is Strength and HP. I would hate to give any of that up for more Dex.

It's not like +5 Dex is gonna make a Destroyer a "Critting Gazelle". Now if they nerf Frenzy,Guts etc you may want to look at the HP side since they do get lots of HP and it won't matter trying to have as much HP as possible so that you can be at 30% life all the time.
Increasing max HP does help with the 30% limit....but it's not necessary. The most vital thing any destroyer / titan can do is learning to manage your health without assistance. Shouldn't be any need for someone to hit or to get a mob to lower your HP for you. Once you get the the hang of it, getting to 30% HP should take at most 7 or 8 seconds.

As for the amount of times dest's crit it's all based on your gear setup. We don't crit as much as archers or daggers (which isn't a surprise) but when we crit it hurts. I've 1 shot critted a soultaker and he had transfer pain up at the time. For some reason after that the ES in their pvp group hit party return.

:/
For a noobie destroyer what is a good setup for getting into frenzy.

Homu w/conversion
Crush of doom etc?

For exping I don't wanna carry too many sets of gear. But I am open to suggestions
The easiest path to frenzy is with gear unfortunately. If you just want to carry the bare minimum get a conversion weapon + hp weapon and get someone to work the rest. The downside of that is having to get through your cp. I use a blunt for the HP weapon so that I can still use the skills that consume hp if need be.
Isn't Frenzy's cooldown gonna change so that it become an emergency skill?

Inwhich case HP weapons are not that desirous
Emergency skill? From what I understand they are going to be adding time to the cool down of frenzy and changing it so that attack speed does not affect it. But who knows, just have to play around and adjust to whatever changes are made to our skills.

Cool down is no longer affected by atk. speed, only buffs that lower reuse, but the original refresh times are cut by about a 1/4 (possibly to a 1/4 of what they were, not 100% sure on that).

Both Frenzy and Guts will have about 10 mins added to reuse time, so both will be around the 12 minute or so mark. It's a bit of a pain really.

It would be nice if they reworked something like they did with tyrants...
Imo if they increase the cooldown then Frenzy will not be used as a levelling skill. It will be a skill you will use if your HP goes to 30% cause you are getting beat up. Thereby making it a skill you will use during an emergency.

I could be wrong but it seems to me NC does not want Orcs to level with 30% HP...
I've read the possible changes upcoming to frenzy and am just going to wait and see what happens with the changes. NC Soft in the past has posted changes to things and didn't apply them. If they do indeed change thing ah well. Just have to adjust.

Nerfing the cool down on frenzy isn't really going to change the way I xp my toons atm. AoE all the time in FoG without it just fine. I put a question mark after 'emergency skill' in a couple of posts back more for the rhetorical because I've never viewed and shall never view frenzy as a 'emergency skill.' It's more of a tool for us to utilize when the time is right.

^^
I agree with Ryll,

It will effect the class we play, but won't change the way we play the game. AOE is here to stay :)
When I had a Destro I used to have +4STR/+4DEX/-8CON dyes, Tallum Heavy set (for more attack spd and faster Frenzy/Guts reuse time), Cursed Dagger SA Rsk. Haste (for Frenzy/Guts reuse time), Infernal Master SA Focus and a Halberd with SA Haste or Wide Blow (Haste seemed to work better tho).
Nice heads up on the possible nerf. I hope it's not true because I just fell back in love with the dest class combined with my wolf. Right now I have maj hvy, infernal master (focus) and a common pole. I like the stock build right now, but if there is a nerf maybe I will take con all the way down and add dex and str.
Hello boyz and girlz ^_^

Oh well, i subbed a Destro recently and went "old school" set up :
Tallum heavy + Ipos focus (soon ++ halberd crit stun too)
+5 dex +4 str -9 con

That set up rocks actually for farming KE, mob by mob hunt and supporting aoe.
But i fear the -9 tatoos for aoe main poler, specially with the changes incoming about frenzy/guts reuse.

atm the typical xp for me is : one train frenzy + rage, then 1 with gutz, then one with zealot , then one with just rage praying Pa'agrio i'll survive, then frenzy again etc.
i'm kinda all the time under 30% huhuhu

If the reuse goes 12 min.... i'll pop frenzy once per buff round O.o
so the the "no tatoo" will be the option to deal with damage and stay alive?

Oh, that is just about solo/duo with a healer/buffer or a improved buffalo ...
In party (and in higher lvl) , you have real supports....
So lately I have been messing around with different AoE spots and am trying to resist using frenzy every pull to adjust to the coming cool down times. My group was me (on titan), my bladedancer and my prophet oop buffing. I've gotten it down to the point where with just dance of vamp I can go for about an hour or so before I use frenzy as a so called "emergency skill." Tried out a few different spots - FoG, Imp Tomb, Cata's, Pagans, MoS etc. and have only taken 1 death in the last 10 days (including my support toons). Of all the spots I tested I could really only see deaths happening in FoG due to respawn. The way I got around that was inviting an active healer. For the other spots; I used maybe 150 ghp and maybe 25 s life elixirs in the 10 days.

I didn't check out the PTS because frankly I didn't care all that much too. Never played on any PTS and probably never will. Would not believe the amount of mail that I have gotten lately about how I've adjusted my play style to work with the changes coming. I had a good chuckle when one of my clanmates expressed concerns about this update because he was thinking about subbing a dest. All I could think was: Your mains a Fortune Seeker, even if you used just a polearm for everything on a dest it would be more fun for you.

Nina:
From how you descrbed your pulls you might have maybe 1 dance set of waiting to reuse frenzy (pending kill speed of the pulls) with the changes in cool down. One change that hasn't been mentioned are the ones to Rage. It looks like Rage is going to be chainable so all of your pulls will have the benefit of it.

Not too sure about how long people maybe waiting to reuse Rage but I think I had like a 14 second window without it. I can't recall the changes in stats coming to Rage but I recall them being different based on the type of weapon we are using.

Nonetheless I'm pumped for this update.
My Destro sub (65 atm) I thought I would try something different so I went +5str +4con -9dex !

With common maj armor and +4DS/health I have rocketed up the lvls in catas and kama (usually as main tank) and now WOA. SE 2box for catas, solo in WOA

Since update as I can spam skills I almost never have to rely on normal hits, so decreased accuracy is not an issue.

pvp is not my main focus, but so far have not lost, even beating well equiped A graders while in B grade using luxury shop gear

Lets see how this set up holds up 70+, I´ll let u know.
Current update changed a lot for destroyers.
First of all that frenzy/guts/zealot reuse time is not affected by attack speed at all. So, now all destroers can throw out risk haste weapons out. Also +dex tatoo won't help on it. Tallum heavy, or other attack speed increase set is also useless.

What is good. Rage none stop, actually without rage it is hard to grind :).
Looks like destros will become pollers. Not frenzy beasts as it was before.
heh i actually prefer the change. I was never able to get into perma frenzy and rage nonstop rocks my sox! :D

-9 dex? Why did you make a slow class even more slower? Can you move at all?
-9 dex is not that slow, in pve I run between mobs just fine, and in pvp I had no chance to catch a kiting bow anyway, so what difference does it make?

In sieges etc had no problem running up to someone and slapping them arround a bit.
I have +5 STR -1 DEX -4 CON, using IC - HD Focus +150 holy

Been using the HD since lvl 52 and it worked just fine, on A grade i used Tallum Hvy to rush through the levels, never AOEd. did lvl 61-75 in Antharas lair - Pythan pit first and behind 2nd bridge later. 99% PVE

Do have COV BD-SWS support :)

The plan on my new Tyrant sub is the same (been using demon splinter since lvl 40 even)
