I'm having a hard time finding good information about this class. I have read all their skills and such on the site, but I'm looking for more game related info. What is it like leveling from 40-75 as SK? Will I use sword/shield or some other type for faster kills? Is it a versatile class? What is it's role in PvP? Does it 1vs1 well? Can it main tank at higher levels? Does it use a pet like DA? Just any info you can give about all aspects of how this class operates when applied to solo/pvp/party/endgame mechanics would be great. Thanks so much!
i posted some information in your other thread, but since you brought up an issue i hadnt considered, i'll add it here;
regarding Pets. you may wish to level a wolf alongside your knight, but fair warning - wolves eat a lot of food and absorb a % of your exp so youll level slower. they won't help your combat issue because you have no way to heal it other than feeding it HP potions, and the wolf's attack power is of little help until level 55 when you may evolve it into something more powerful (and more costly).
your Hate skills will be quite valuable while levelling your wolf, thats for sure.
with a wolf, 55 to 75 will be a BREEZE. youll be able to ride your wolf at level 70, too. other than that, your biggest hurdle is getting both yourself and your wolf past 55.
there are special weapons and armor you can obtain for pets, and pets must be fed proper food or they will betray you and wander off permanently. pet infos are very easy to come by these days, SK's ... well, youre right, theres not a lot of info; but for good reason. much of the information applicable to One tank archetype in l2 can be applied to the others.
characteristically, tanks lack Patk, and dont hit hard. characteristically theyre beasts for HP and defence.
an asset to pvp because Hate skills have a chance to lock the enemy target on the tank.
I won't go into a long, drawn out explanation but I will just say this: Imo SK's are quite simple the most fun tanks to play in the game below 70 period. The others are boring by comparison. The only thing that comes close is Angelic Icon tip-toe-ing on Pally's but even this trick get's old fast. Tank damage isn't amazing but SK's do more than most anyways thanks to hex, bleeding and the cubics are stellar performers.

If you've enough money to invest for wolf gear I think it's more important than your own one! I was lvling my sub BD with bishop and full stacked Great wolf today.. Wolf was almost soloing 2 Witch rooms w/o any problems! 1 wolf crit hit - almost half of mobs HP... I was shocked that wolf could be so powerful so atm I'm going to rise my own :D
Also pvp with it... Crazy.. Most of characters would keep wolf lol target and hopefully let him live while in the reality wolf will be doing almost same amount of dmg... Btw even if it get killed blessed rez for pets are fairly cheap.

I like to kill pets 1st because are easy and most ppl dont like having their pet dead :D
also have in mind that if u kill a pet like a dragon or wolf u gain only some karma which dissapears after 4-5 mobs and u dont get any pk penalty

Sk is my favorite char. First time in official and i have an sk 67lvl. Well in pvp is a little difficult until you manage to equip a maj. heavy set. After that you have nothing to be afraid:P Archers and meel attackers are your breakfast:) The only prob is with mages. But this can be solved when you get the stun skill at high lvls. With stun resist and the stun skill...ouch. Root your enemies and start hex, powerbreak and the skill that reduces their speed. Try of course paralisis. If it lands you are winner, if not you still have many other options to win. Bleed and jugdment always at body to body fight. The guard stance is really saving you but you have to use it only in emergency because concerning all the above plus the guard stance...no mana left. With archers and meel dds use also drain life. They usually have no good m.defence and you do dmge to them. Dont use it against mages, because you will loose mp without reason:P
Sk is a very good char and in high lvls is one of the best i believe. Is a powerfull combination of tank and mage. And in pvp if you want to win you have to play both styles. Stun and root is your first attack. Then play like a nuker and finally finish the job like a fighter.Stun, Magic Mirror always at pvps and of course the smart cubic helps you to win almost anyone:)
Concerning now if he can tank, the truth is that a DA and even better a Paladin are the best for the job. If you are the only "tank" and have a healer at your back dont be afraid. You can tank fine almost everything, believe me. Use powerbreak and you add p.defence;) Use life reech and you get a nice boost at your life. First choise to attack of cource is hex but if you are the tank and you have an other d.elf in pt, is better to do the hex the other guy (to save mana). If not, use it first with power break always.
The only weakness of sk is he's low con (easy to get stunned, bleed, difficult to regenarate his hp, low weight...etc.) And of course his little life concerning all the other tanks. But has very good p.def and is up to your use of his skills to make it stronger.
Wish you all the fun playing an sk char. You will be bored with him very difficult. Too many options and strategies you can try at pvp and pve (or pvp with mobs:P) will keep your interest all the time.
to solo i used sword and sheild but then vanguard came out i was 79 so didnt need a use for it till the buff come out that pretty awsome but i still used sword and sheild but vanguard is great for soloing low lvls.
pvp sk are great at 1 vs 1 even 2 v1 but in pvp you do what every other tank does in mass pvp stun/arrest/debuff/hate player/protect robes and dd in the party.
party your be a just like every other tank meat sheild lol.
ummm u have pet but not like the DA you cant be erased like da pet and u have three of them viper cube posions, vampire cube does drain life, photom cube does three debuffs wind shack/hex/power break, then at lvl 80 you get smart cube that does a wind strike/cleanse/hate.
endgame the lvl 83 shilen pain skill is sicker then anything i could think of.
No, depend on who you are pvping. If you are fighting a Titan/destroyer, please don't fight in vangaurd, beacuse those orcs will eat you alive before you kill them. But if you are fighting daggers, Hell, get on vanguard and just spam your vangaurd skills. You will kill them before they get your cp down. Judgement > Triple Blade slash > double slash > blade hurricane, do it in this sequence on a dagger, they should be dead when you do this 4 skills. If not dead just do it all over again. They won't last 2 rounds of those 4 skills. Nukers, you might wanna get on tank mode, or they will put you on the ground before you even reach them. Healers, vanguard spam the skills again before they mana burn all your mp and kite you around like Mommy walking dogs. BD/SWS, I would say just vanguard and spam your skills, you should be able to win that way. Summonors.... I don't know yet... I would fight them in vanguard and spam skill to kill the summons, or else you would be having a fun time burning your soulshots hitting a summon that just won't die. Fighting other tanks, tank mode, touch of death them and kite them, debuff, drain health, lighting strike or just melee after touch of death, you should have a great advantange with the fact that your opponent 5 buffs canceled and no cp.
