New char or exp without vitality?

I am playing here for several weeks already and started to notice that my exp is becoming very hard to gain. One reason is because i play a lot and my vitality is constantly 0. So now when i reached the point when i cant just exp for the whole day and raise only few %, should i raise another char like a dwarf to make some money? When i started to play i promised myself that i wont raise any other chars but now i don't think i have a choice. So i just wanted to ask u guys what u do, and is there any people that just play with one char and are perfectly comfortable with that? Because i really want to focus on my main char and raise him to lvl 80+ without any other distractions like other chars and etc. Simply not playing for 50+ hours to fully regain my vitality seems kind of to much. I don't really see any options here but can u share some thoughts about this situation.
Thanks!
if your rich and can buy A items/S items just exp as mad, ignore vit. If your pore and need cash doing alts would be a very smart thing, farm some stuff, a lvl 65 BH in beast farm could help you get your A items.
The problem with always trying to XP with vitality is that you will soon find that you will never have enough SP to learn all of your skills. Leveling in L2 becomes harder very quickly and you will notice it start to slow down significantly starting in the 50's, but it only gets harder, a LOT harder. For example, to get from level 55->56 you need 9.85m XP, and from 70->71 you need in the region of 45m XP, and from 85->86(85 & 100%) you need about 5.5billion XP.

In short, the game only gets harder but just stick with it, it becomes very rewarding.
I am playing here for several weeks alreadyThat leads me to believe that you have little money and are still low level, possibly C-grade (level 40-52) maybe even D grade (20-40).

If my assumption is correct then you have only just begun playing. 2 weeks is NOTHING in Lineage II terms, some of us have played for 4 years - nearly 5 for some Open Beta players. If you're not liking the low experience you are getting after having played for a few weeks, then I hate to break it to you, but Lineage II is not for you.

This game is all about the grind. Vitality is extremely bad for new players, it's probably the worst 'bonus' I have ever seen given to players. Why?

New players start with nothing. Zilch.

When I first started I was 30 before I got any D-grade because money didn't come fast, drops were rare and there were no bonuses, no decent quests for items and the game was all about the grind. These days you get vitality. This makes you level faster but does not give items and adena faster... you can't kill faster and you don't get 3x, 2.5x, 2x, 1.5x drops or adena.

If I was to forget all I knew about Lineage II and start again from scratch today, in exactly the same way I did in 2005, then I would probably be 40 before having full, D grade, 52 before full C and 61 before full B.

Yes, there are other bonuses, but you can only get so far on Common and Shadow weapons.

The game has been messed up for newbies with the introduction of Vitality. Get yourself into a clan and hope they help you getting the mats and adena you need to get your gear.

Lineage II = Teamwork & Grind
man COMMON RULES! The lvl 20 quest gives you enough cash for top D common (armor/weapon/jewelery) and you have left some cash to taste the ss usage :) This is with out sealing the basic materials for a lot cash in giran.
lvl 40 class quest do the same thing, enough cash for top common C but wile 20-40 you can do a good amount of quests for materials so you actually can have a lot of extra. Till 52 if you read some quides do quests etc even as new player you will be able to afford top B common.
A will be possible but as new player with no prior knowledge to the game for just common you will need like 62 maybe to be able to get it, if you hunt with shots till then.
Normal items need a lot more work and are design to be acquired a lot later then the moment you get expertise for, A normal (superior) items is around 70 to be able to get it but till you hit 70 you as a new player should be in an ok clan and already build ed a game info base.
Well money is not the issue right now. I got some support from friends since i graduated out of the academy so fast. I also made a killing during this event (about 160 mil) maybe more with all the fruit cocktails and juices and life stones. So right now i am lvl 52 with common peril and real doom set. So life is good at this point. For a gr i plan to sell everything i got and get maj set with common bow again. I play l2 for 4 years since C1 in private servers. Played in many servers high and low so i know what to expect and what not. I finally ended up here and i am here to stay :) . But this vitality feature is really contraversial like some of you mentioned :) it almost would be better if it would not exists for me. I have love for the game and i will try to keep going. I need to find some extra motivation somewhere to keep raisin my lvl and not get distracted with raising other chars. Another issue is that i play with SR and he is known as a solo char so that makes it even harder. I know not many ppl want sr's in their parties so... But i have a good clan and i'll see what happens.
For your own safety don't mention private servers here. Thanks.
And there's no particular solution to slow leveling.
Vitality is there only for very casual players in earlier levels 1-70.

In time NCSoft will probably ease the game up even more (this is likely to happen imo just to get players to end game faster) but until then there's just slow grind :).

I'm happy to hear about you making a killing with this event, money making during events is what boosted me too in the past, after such events I was having a great time not worrying about adena.

Good luck.
i disagree with purp
back when i started playing you had to grind weeks to get gear even close to your lvl, i get more xp at 80+ than i used to get at 58 because with no newbie buffs/herbs/pets/money i literally killed 2 mobs and had to rest. forget about any sort of pots those were only for ebayers
these days you can shoot straight to S grade in common gear using only herbs and the huge saving in time thx to vitality means you can spend the months we spent grinding to go out and make some cash or just screw around on an alt
Oh just for the person that said that exping with vitality gives you less SP... that's not correct. Vitality applies to the SP as well, so you gain 3x EXP and 3x SP. It's just the adena that isn't 3x. SP is proportional. So someone that exps with vit 4 all the time should NOT have problems with SP, well, not any problems besides the normal SP problems everyone has.

And the MAIN problem with vitality, which I found out leveling my main, is that it's very easy to keep 3-4 vitality every day at lower levels. Before I hit like 72 it was so easy, I'd exp 3 hours, 4 maybe and when I logged, I still had vit 2, so I could log out and the next day have 4 vit again... After 72, I'd start exping for like 1 hour, maybe 2 and vit would drop to 2.

And it's even worse past 76, I hear. So you know, it's fine to try and keep vitality at lower levels, but past 7x it starts not really being that beneficial anymore, since NCSoft's idea of "casual player" is someone that plays an hour a week past 76...

I have had basically the same experience with the vitality system as Val.

Even though I haven't hit 70 yet, I found logging in yesterday at full 4 bars & then after maybe 2hrs, I suddenly dropped back down to 2. I basically sit at 2 for a very long time, before logging out again!
Yet, when I log onto my PR, I can level basically 4hrs without vit going below 3!

Purp has done a vitality chart which is in his sig, if anyone wants to know how that works. :)
I suggest you should make a dwarf alt. They are kinda fun and can make you some decent adena. They are good in the Catas or Necs for AA... something you will need and your archer won't be very good at.

I would definately go AOE as that is the most cost effective way to go.

If you play from an Internet cafe i would be inclinded to make a Bounty Hunter and spoil for the extra mats/items.
If you play from your house/room i would be inclinded to go with a Warsmith. You can set up a store overnight to sell your crafts or you can sell shots.

Like one of the posters said make sure to only use common items. These will easily take you to S Grade. S Grade costs an unbelieveable amount and its required if you plan on PvsP effectively.

Just wanted to add that at level68 my Tyrant is partied with a level 62 WC and level 65 EE. I box these guys and they get about 10% going Vit4 to Vit3. When i log on i usually make 8%. Then i log off and play alts. then before i go to sleep i get the last 2%. Although i've stopped levelling them cause i lost interest ....lol. I still level my dwarf though :)
You will level faster just playing your main always at vit0-2 than dividing the time over more characters. So it depends on how quickly you want to level on your main.
vit rlly doesnt stay long at high lvls so if u rlly wanna get that toon to 80+ keep lvling it instead of making an alt
Level... forget about vitality ^^ consider it a bonus for that weekend you spend away from home XD
takes me 5 minuets tops to kill lvl 4 vitality QQ
if you want to spend the least amount of hours in game then log out as soon as you hit lvl 3 vitality
if you want to spend the least amount of weeks lvling a toon then keep lvling till you pass out and wake up to lvl 2 vitality in the morning
starting level76 vitality consumption goes 1.5x faster. starting level79 2x
befor time vit wasn`t even in game and we were still expin so forget about it
Hmm... unless you plan on raising that dwarf to REALLY HIGH LVL, or do your own crafts in the future (which I wouldn't attempt without serious back-up funds - unless you want to stick with the slow SS market), Dwarves don't really make enough money to make up for how painful it is to raise them. The way to making money in this game is playing the market. Yes, I realize that telling a new user that isn't always the best advice but you have: a) funds to set you off, and b) friends to give you advice, and maybe even lend you some money to start off with.

Here's what you do: start with something simple, like ghps (in case of Bartz: you can buy them for 3ish k and re-sell for 8k if you set up a buy shop, or just get the common craft recipe (=everyone can use it, not only dwarves) and craft with fishing-items) or gemstones (Bartz again: AA sells for 5a/1AA if you set up a buy-shop, S gemstones go for as much as 650k in the open market, but only cost 100AA.) - different servers/situations/seasons work well with different methods, so please don't blindly try anything of the above, but observe your own market and consult your friends for an easy and repeatative way to make money.

Now, to the actual question: what to do with your time? I'm not sure if your friends are buffers or have buff-pets, but buffs are EXTREMELY important in this game. So I'd either raise a pet (buffaloe would be best for you with it's fighter buffs - make a lowbie toon that lvls fast and raise a buffaloe with it during your vitality breaks until it's something like 10 lvls below you ). Or - if you can afford a second account and that's your thing - raise a box-able buffer, a pp for basic buffs, or a bd for archer-ownage.
After 62, when newbie buffs run out, you'll have an incredibly hard time to progress otherwise (- unless your bff is a buffer, or your friends have buffers that they'll let you use).

Oh, just to finish things off: I'm sure it's obvious to you, but if you have a boxed buffer and a live comes your way - be nice and party the live buffer- it's fun to have the company, and your motivation to box shouldn't be "BUT I DUN LIKE TO SHARE MY XP HARHARHAR" rather then "but no live pp is on D:" (which is likely - not many live pps out there)

Live PP's slowly died off. Lol
No one wants to party us, especially if they have one boxed! :(
To each there own! :p

I'm also going to throw in that in my experience, no class needs to learn every skill. A lot of classes have terrible skills that you'll never use, and they are a waste of SP. Whenever I make a character, I try to find out what skills are going to last me through the 70's, and I write them all down and ignore most of the others.

I do the same with my Vitality as you do. When I get down to 2 vitality, I just switch to another character and level them up. It's nice for me because I get sort of burned out on grinding with one character after a couple hours, but if it's like you say and it doesn't get bad until level 70, I'll be thrilled. I don't mind slow leveling, as long as my brain isn't numbing.

I honestly think it starts just a little before you're 70's. It's almost like a trial run. They want to give you a taste of how bad it will get, to prepare for what's coming. Lol
exactly as I thought ;)
ok ima gonna throw in my 2 aa....

if ur worried about vit make alts.

i have 28 toons and cant even keep up with vit even of i tried.

outta 28 toons i still have 22 toons with 5 vita pops lol
there is a trick to using vit well.
1. never lvl a toon below 200%
2. vit 200-300 % takes only 24 hrs to regen.
3. lvl places where u can lvl 3 hrs at 300%-250%

my lvl 73-76 duo(76 sd-73wc) can duo 4 mobs at IT main flr for 3 hrs. 1hr i lvl 300% next 2 at 250% then when they reach 200% i log out

after that start using other toons to lvl
i usually have 2-3 duos that i use constantly so i never lvl a char out side of 200% EVER

also 1 other advntage of having multiple chars. Even if u only have 1 acct thats 7 chars than can get u a chance at an EWS per day. get em to 40 and do the cubic quest. Since the cubic quest started i have made 1.5 BILLION on clicking a cube. Its no overhead adena. no grinding, no gear just a small setup fee (or manor or fish grind).

hope this helps

Huh? I have 12 cubics and got 2 fine whites in 3-4 months. You got lots more?
he said he has 28 chars and you can make money with cubic with other parts not just fine whites. Still 1,5 bil is dam impressive:D

Actually you can level at 4 to 3 vitality and still make good progress, spending twice less time.

If you're playing daily about an hour of two at about the same time, then just stop exping once you get level 3 vitality changed to level 2.

Then logout, and the next day at about the same time, you'll have maximum level 4 vitality again.

This is because levels 3 and 4 vitality regen offline in about 22 hours.

So if you play about this time per day, there is no point in leveling more, because then you'll have your vitality slowly degrading to 0 and then you'll stay at 2 to 0 vitality each day, and get 2 times less xp than you would if you stayed at 4 to 3 vit, which playing about the same time.

After level 76 however, you will get your vit degraded to level 2 in about 10 minutes or like 0.3% so keeping vitality at 3-4 does not make any sense - just ignore vitality after 76 .. unless there is some vitality event that lets you quickly get full vitality, then you're better off getting it full once you hit level 1. Valentine Agathions make vitality matter for legit 76+ chars imo...
at 78+ my lvl 2 vitality gained by logging out each day is gone within a buff round. Actually I'm lucky if it lasts beyond 5-10 mobs most days.

Solution? Get in a good party and get the best xp you can. AOE if possible.

Level 0 vit is a way of life; any vitality at all is a luxury. You have to have the drive to level your main toon no matter what level of vit you have; or if you are an alt-aholic, vitality is great for jumping around and leveling them all.

Hehehe ... smart man. That's what I do. People don't sit down and do the math, and then wonder why I keep up with them XP wise even though I only spend half the time online as they do ;)
Well i thought a lot about it and almost raised my char till 60 lvl now. I am getting temptations to raise other chars or do something else besides exp all day with vitality 0 lvl, but i think the only way and the fastest way to raise a char to respectable lvls like 80+ is to raise one char and just focus on him all the time. About the money i think if u play alot and if u have a good clan and manage to get good parties and ociasianlly go kill raid bosses u can get to S grade items easily. You can spoil some mats with spoiler and get the materials that u need. No need for raising a warsmith cause theres plenty of private creation shops all over giran. What i realized about vitality is that its not even worth it to bother about it, because it goes out so fast that i cant even notice the difference. So might as well lvl without it.
if you play often enough, just keep lvling

if you play a few hours a day at most maybe, then just log when you reach lv2 and wait till the next day to log on with vit4 again..

vit doesn't help if you play often enough to keep draining your vit past lvl 2.. if you have the free time its just being wasted waiting for vit to fill up. if you want to make an alt, do it just for the fun of it.. not because you want something to do while your vit regens.

casual playing is a different story, but for a hardcore grind just lvl with 0vit
