Elemental Summoner AoE abilities

Hey there, I was just wondering about this. My Elven Wizard currently is 34 and will soon hit 40. I planned to go the way as an Elemental Summoner.

I already have a Phantom Summoner but somehow I dislike it a little bit. It's not the playstyle, it's the fact that the summons are straightforward melees. As an Elemental Summoner I am able to do some AoE which is pretty nice.

Currently I'm wondering about this though. At what level is AoE viable? I fear that the Unicorm will be either a little bit too squishy or cost me a fortune of mana to keep it alive thus forcing me into mana breaks.

Anyone got some actual combat knowledge about this?
Elemental Summoner do have an aoe pony, but it won't be able to tank the dmg from multiple mobs unless u UD it or you'll have to get someone to tank the dmg for ur pony. I nuked with the ES till around lvl50, then sometimes seed in the catacombs. I already need to heal constantly if the pony agro'd 2+ mobs (with 70+ se buffs).

I remember doing 1/2 hp mobs aoe (pony tanking), it costed me loads of mana to heal the pony instead of recharging the pony for its nukes.
Your best bet would be to find a tank who can gather agro on a bunch of mobs. It will make the process faster and much easier.

Sounds like a solid idea. I got a 55 TK on another account which I might box for this.
Actually, I’ve been doing AoE since lvl 52 (lvl 65 now), no oop supports, no tank, just me, my merrow and newbie buffs. The trick to doing it is not stand around. Kite as your life depended on it (because it actually does, if the pony dies, the agro WILL be transferred to you and you will most likely die).

My first AoE spot was skyshadow Meadow (connabi groups, the others have healers and stunners), just right under Oren, the mobs are 1/2 HP passive groups, so you can kill them in 2 nukes. To aggro 1 group, order the pony to nuke one of its members in a was that preferably the aoe affects all of them, then move a bit away so the pony follows you and count 5 secs (the pony skill cooldown) and order the pony to nuke once again, that way, the probability of the nuke being interrupted is less and the damage taken by the pony is easily healed in 1-2 casts, and such you can save you mana a bit. Of course, you still have to do mana breaks, or just summon boxer and recharge you mana, so you don’t have to stop that long.

And just a warning: Don't try to kill a group when you have under ~250 mana left, if the pony gets interrupted to much, and you dont have enough mana to heal it, you’re screwed, also, try to do larger pulls every time your servitor UD coolsdown, it gives you a nice exp boost every 10 minutes or so.

Just to finish, I will leave here some nice Aoe spots that you can try:
Tanor Canyon (I tried it but it was too risky because at that point the pony is not good enough)
Skyshadow Meadow
Frozen Labirynth (Lost Bandersnatch and after that Ursus)
Ancient Battleground (big groups, have stunners, are aggro and they HURT, only for 62+, all undead, so if you ca get access to holy weapon on the pony, it helps)
Silent Valley (high lvl only)

****...that was longer than I thought! If you still have doubts, go to http://l2pets.com/forums/index.php that’s the best summoner community I know and if they helped me I think they will help you too.

Good luck AoE'ing!;)

All of the places you've listed are 1/2hp mobs area. Without oop buffs and exp wise, it's better to just solo in some herb dropping area. (I did exp in skyshadow meadow before for the stupid Spellbook drop b4 npc sells them >.<). You loss time in exp since you needed to run around to keep the pony alive. But if you're just exping in the 1/2hp so just you can aoe and not care about exp/hour wise, then it's fine.

It's going to help in pony aoe if you can get access to Acumen3 and/or PoWater though, then I find worth it to aoe in 1/2hp mobs area :p

I only have access to a 44 Warcryer which I wanted to add to the group while hunting after level 44.

Thanks for your answers. I will try out some AoE after I changed my class to ES. In the meanwhile my Great Wolf does the work ;-)

Well, it seemed faster for me AoE'ing…maybe because I don’t like melee :p (I will have to do it, but for now...blergh)

And You're right, acumen3 makes wonders, it’s a shame that the people that are kind enough to buff me tend to forget that it’s the summon that actually needs the buffs:mad:
