So here I am...wondering if I should return to L2. I played for about 3 months then quit once I noticed the several downspiral in player base and huge upspiral in botting activity. Why does NC soft not address this issue. I know with blizzard they implemented warden into their bot detection software which yielded hundreds of thousands of bans, but kept the integrity of the game alive and kept the good honest hard workin folk playing for months/years. I'm worried that if I return I will be disappointed with the player base mostly and that I will be severely crippled by the economy and supreme characters financed through botting. What I'm looking for here is a little assurance, If there is any at all.
Bots come and bots go. Every now and again they do a mass banning and things are quiet for a few weeks. But they'll always come back. Just gotta live with that - so long as its profitable to farm adena and sell it, they'll find a way.
IMO its a good time to come back to game though. Player number (on my server Phoenix at least) seem higher than they have been in a while. And new update just around the corner :)
Nope no assurance, there will allways be bots in L2 and wow for that matter.
The bots are far less then they were before if that helps some.
But if you want no bots I guess you have to play a single player game.
I would suggest not comming back. I just came back after a layoff, and the games not the quite the same. (Im on Bartz) There are almost no new players, so towns like dion and the starting villages are practically gohst towns. Plus, the expensiveness of the top gears makes playing this game a waste of time unless you have the intention of commiting years to it, or droping real money on buying some Adena (which just contributes to the game sucking more).

Don't play the Euro servers (Teon, Franz, Luna). The majority of all of those servers are bot havens and the value of adena is not good. Example: S crystals cost 220,000 each while on the US servers S cry cost 90,000. It's not supply and demand that has the prices so screwed, imo it's the willingness and commonility of buying adena.
It's free to port from town to town with a toon under level 40 so make a toon on different servers and port to Giran and check the markets.
As far as worrying about botting, it's on all servers to some degree, if you want a bot free MMO this isn't the one for you but then again I don't know which MMO doesn't have abuses of cheats of varying degrees. Maybe try a single player game?
Does the game suck? imo, no, or I wouldn't still be playing. It's a good game but it's not a cookie cutter game. Don't expect all of the rules and content to be spoon feed to the players - the game that spoon feeds its player base is called WoW -- Lineage 2 aint WoW, Lineage 2 is awesome!
Sure you can return to L2. Bots got banned on each server more than before. Heros and other cry about getting banned. But well...bot free we will never be. Like every mmorpg wont get. But its MUCH less bots on the servers than before. The game changed a lot due to the great updates and the game got a new fresh wind with many new stuff which makes the game again more attractive. Discover by yourself ;) If you wanna play on a NA server try phoenix, if you wanna play on a euro server go Teon. :D

Hey hey heyyyyyy! Calm down buddy! I play Teon and I can say it is NOT a bot heaven!! Teon was always in "heavy status" and now after bot banning it went to "light status". There are less bots than maybe other servers have at the moment.Dont give a server bad reputation if you dont know about it. :mad:
If bots are the reason you quit then forget coming back. The bots will always be plenty in L2. The GMs seem to get serious about banning now and then, but it only lasts a few days and then everyone go back to botting again.
I don't know about the other servers but Sayha has more bots than ever at the moment. It's so bad that legits have to settle for second rate places. All the 1st rate spots are crowded by tons of bots. For example it's almost impossible to get a room in the catacombs anymore. Everyone and their mother seem to bot there. Not to mention places like Botted Swamp, Wall of Bots, Forest of the Bots, etc.
We even have bot addiction. There are people that are totally convinced that without bots the world will end tomorrow.
If you back to L2, dont come to luna this server is dead, luna is bot server any gm have the guts to ban the heroes, the levels 85 or einheit members :(

Yeah well every server has a bot problem. But saying Teon the most populated server among all is the most botted one isnt true. Dont give a good server bad reputation plix plox ;)

On luna the other clans dont have chance against the most big cheater clan of luna, we have asked many times ncsoft to kick the big bots of this big clan, but nothing have happened, do you know another major mmorpg the cheaters control the game ??

Yes i know luna is a bot server..its sad..i know..thats why i dont play there.
wow cheaters control the game yes..and even dont get banned for it even if the GMs know it. A friend of mine got caught and got a time ban for 3 days of botting and ebaying. After that..he continued to bot :)
No, big clans dont stop you since they are the botters. So they stop the legit ones and not vice-versa.
They can control it even faster and longer.
I am a L2 player since C3 . I played wow for some time and left because I didnt found nothing special for I stay and play there.

But after a deep thought, and thinking that kind of advise will only help to destroy this game I love so much...
I think you should play again if you want to have fun and your concept of having fun playing a game like lineage is for you to have fun regardless that other person is cheating in front of your eyes, and killed you with cheat tools,
forget about bots, forget about customer service, forget about lag,
and forget about been a cry baby, all of that is unavoidable...
No there is nothing you can do, we all together can't eliminated complete botting or cheating in any sense, why because is **** human nature to cheat, lie and deceive, its part of us, some of us may have understand good from evil and are ethical to their principles, some just dont care at all, it sucks, but that's **** life, get used to it, because it will never changed...

What is the worst - if you kill bot party you can be sure that a Bot Protector will come and PK you with CP pots spam, he can be 10 lvl lower than you, has a D grade weapon and make you 100 dmg, but he will kill sooner or later.
I hope that we will be playing more with ppl than another NPC;p

If you left L2 because of "bots and supreme players who get ahead by cheating" then you should know they both still exist (in fact, they are the same person much of the time--lmao).
Depending upon when you left--the bots may have shifted. Back in C2-C3 you couldn't play a NG toon at the Spider's Nest near DE Village because of bots. Today you'll see them in much higher places generally.
They both get banned--they both come back. If you quit to avoid them before, then you will probably do the same again at some point.
If you can find what you like/love in L2 and accomplish those things--then you can enjoy playing this game (even with the soulless running around).
The answer to your question lies in your knowledge of how much you like the game vs. how annoyed you are at bots/cheaters.....same deal the rest of us get every day when we can log in.

yes, you should return. Get your *** in game. Be there or be square.
Its not so bad, sure they are there, but everyone reports em with the new macro tool,
whether it works or not,
but its NOT like c3-c4 like it was on say.....kain...with 150bots in de village getting killed
by guards...so many you couldnt see the guard, so many, that sometimes they killed the guard.
sometimes you'll see a big bot train, but its never for long, and its usually in hot springs, and they usually get reported quickly.
its not bad....come back on, activate for a month and see. worst case scenerio, you cancel your subscription and wash your hands of it.
