Encouraging people to invite their friends to pay £5 instead of £10 for the game or encouraging people to buy a buffer account for £5 instead of £10.
Over the course of 1 year, for example, a £5 saving is nothing considering you would potentially pay approx £110 in monthly subscriptions.
So... yippee?
I'd have personally loved to have seen the monthly fee dropped by 1/2 for a month than have a half price new serial number. I have 4 accounts... why would I need a 5th?
No, all it says is 'Lineage II is half off!' - is that forever for that person who buys a new account in the given time frame, or just the first month?

to quote the article directly anyone purchasing Lineage II, during this limited time offer, will receive half off.
this means when you purchase an account serial (purchase the game online) you get half off.
smooth move on the part of NC. they got rid of trial accounts, and continue to ban everyday. instead of making those bad people stay away, theyve met halfway and given half off a new account.
Don't think it has to be a totally new account. I could buy a month tomorrow for half-price I think. So, instead of paying £110 a year, I'll pay £105. Incredible, indeed. Just give us the PTS date, please.
How does this differ from the already available LineageII:4th Anniversary Edition in which you pay $20 USD for a 60 Day Serial code which can be used on either a new account, or to add time to an existing account?
By Halfing the price on LineageII: you now pay $10 USD for the game that comes with 30 days of play time? So this is merely a smaller package?
Kinslon, It would be cool if you put back all the merchandise stuff you had before on the ncsoft side. I wanted to buy a poster and a t-shirt and now i cant anymore since the site got updated :(
Also how this half price off works? On the web page its still 14.99€ for me...does it only discounts after it got bought? And if I bought 1 account for half price, will I pay always the half price for it or the normal fees price?
And what about the NCCoins system? Will we get it to with gracia final? Or a bit later? Those NCCoins are a great service! We should get them too! plix plox!
*Promotion starts at 8:00am Pacific Time, April 1, 2009.
*Promotion ends at 11:59pm Pacific Time, April 3, 2009
12 hrs from my post time is when it starts.
NCCoins are for failures who ebay.
Foi ebayers? NCCoins are used for ingame stuff which doesnt give ANY advantage...like mountable pets and special aghitons which give you some newbie buffs ect. Why failure?
I still can access to the older store from nc where they have t-shirts, posters and all the other stuff \o/ They should update the new page and not put there some links which even dont work or are incomplete.

theyve said already NCCoins will be used for the current and future F2P games produced by NC, not for existing games.
This is a bad idea.... especially when your not promoting it via Commercials or other means. Your just providing farmers cheap accounts to purchase. This is may not help the L2 community in a positive direction.
I have only one question to this, because it is still not quite clear for me. Does the discount apply only to a new account creation, or i can purchase additional time with 50% off as well? Because what it says on the site is:
Log into your NCsoft Master Account or create a new NCsoft Master Account today to take advantage of this incredible limited time offer.
no joke? Well, it is a joke, and it's a pretty bad one.
the account purchase is a one time deal. subscription is still fullprice, making the saved money closer to 5% than 50% over just a year. less the longer you subscripe for.
Sad thing is there's probably a lot of people who are bad at math who will fall for this.
To be perfectly honest with you Kuroin the chances that you would have noticed the offer anyway would have been minimal. I don't know what the stats are on purchases from the NC store in comparison to other places but I bet it's low.
I'd love to see the total number of new accounts purchased during the event period.

But i bought them from NCStore cuz noone here sells L2 boxes... <: X
Hmm if i purchase that lineage 2 code , can i aplly that code to my old account and have 30 days free time of playing , or is that code just for creating new accounts on master account?

Considering the majority of your clan is botters / farmers why are you complaining. Oh thats right...you're two faced.

Seems like a good deal to me, especially since a few friends have been interested in playing and now they are going to jump in :)

There's nothing in that package that wouldn't be accomplished by a trial key.
If they keep playing after trying it out, they'll spend full price for subscription, and the money saved is minimal
If they don't like it, they are still out half of the account cost, whereas trial keys are free.
its a luke-warm attempt at promoting the game
but hell its still an attempt.
and i agree with people who think this is something
farmers would take advantage of.
so i feel 50/50 about it.
glad to see them stick a finger out there and try and pull the rope.
+1
Any advertising is better than no advertising! This is cheap advertising, cheap may not be the best but it's better than nothing. If I wanted another account this would be the time to get one, If I had any friends that thought about playing I'd tell them about it.

Sorry for silly question :)
It looks like this works for new Lineage II accounts. So I wouldn't think that you could use the serial code to activation the game like a time card, but I could be wrong...
I paid for the half-off offer - I believe it's simply purchasing the game. When I set things up I had to also set up an automatic payment plan which was 14.99 or whatever for one month.
However - here's my problem.
I paid for the game from the Lineage II website.
It sent me to an outside party (GamersHell or Fileplanet) and when I got there it wants me to pay 19.99 to download.
That's 30 bucks for a 20 dollar game I already paid the offered 10 bucks for.
I put in a help ticket - they've jacked me around for hours and not answered my question or solved my problem. The download link fro the account page is simply another way to get to the page that redirects you to the two sites listed above.
HOW on earth do I get this thing downloaded without paying for it *again*??
Does this apply only to persons purchasing the game and creating an account, or does it also apply to purchasing game time?
Buying time in bulk would be very nice if this was true.
You already get a better deal buying a years' time all at once... is that also 50% off? If so WOOT! serriously. I'm sure I'm not the only one planning on playing Lineage II for years to come, I have no intention of quiting and if I can get 2 years time for the price of 1... HELL yeah!

From what Kestrelco said it sounds like it is half off the purchase price of the game, not game time...
I just got off of the phone with NCsoft support, and this is what to guy told me. The promotion is only for new accounts, and you can't add the time to an existing account. Also, even though the 4th anniversary edition is pictured on the page, that is not what you receive. You only get to download the game to a new account and you get 30 days of game time.

Good info about the new accounts, but some of the other info is listed on ncsoft.com.
A serial code for account creation.
Access to the full Lineage® II game via downloadable client.
One month of game time. Activation with a valid credit card or game time card is required.
Yeah, I played it in beta years ago but never bought it. Been looking for a game to play lately so I remembered this one and thought I'd try it out. Only problem I'm having is my internet just decided to be a *insert explicative* and I get about halfway through the download and it'll abruptly stop and end itself...
