Is the Kamael for me?

Kamael Classes Started Last reply 24 posts
Hello returning player here and i was planning on rolling a kamael but have no idea if its the choice for me.

I was hoping for a class that can work well with groups (as opposed to solo grind) and able to deal some considerate damage with melee.

So should i play a kamael or should i just roll a bladedancer or something? As this time around i'm planning on grouping constantly and to help others.

I currently have a AW lvl 55 and i do not want to roll a class so vulnerable and buff dependent.

Thanks for your info and thoughts. :)
well all kamael classes are buff dependant berserker has 1 buff they can use for a whole party called blood pact it raises hp a lil version of bless the body its also 1 min like bd buff tho re use is a lil longer so u cant chain
unless u got cov
imo all classes of kamael are fun to play
berserker is pure melee soulbreaker uses melee and magic wich is fun imo u can steal buffs and all nuke a target albalester is like an archer type dunno much about them tho i know they can make a clone wich is a nice skill they can set up traps also
i prefer zerker i am a doombringer i love there rushes its nice to see what happens when players who are depending on there hit and run lame archer naab nuker tactics zerkers also have alot of power hard skills only negative thing is they die fast low hp and sucky def
It's often hard for any DD to get into parties (unless they start their own), so BD is a good choice for a support that can do damage and always get parties, but long-term you may find that BD will be restricted to a very passive role where you are not expected to do damage or even told not to, and the ONLY thing you will do is dances and sitting for mp the whole time. If that sounds objectionable to you, or you want to do more than that in game, perhaps pick a different support class, or go Kamael and don't look back, parties or not.

Kamaels are all good but all classes are buff dependent, and like any other DD you will have trouble getting parties sometimes. Male Kamaels have our own UD tho, so although we are as fragile as Dark Elves basically, we have a few emergency skills that DE don't have, at the same time being good DD's that can level quickly. Most people still know nothing about Kamaels, underestimate them, and will pass over them for parties. But if I can get into a party most people are pleasantly surprised by my skills and damage and will want me again later. As Doombringer I can tank single target parties, or pull mobs for aoe, and in emergencies I can control mobs with my aoe stun (this has saved my party many many times), as well as UD and Scorn to hate the mobs off everyone else, tank them all, and heal myself up if necessary, giving the rest of the party time to get things under control or get out. Soul Breaker has AOE slow and fear, and also silence and hold to crowd control as well, and Arbalester has AOE poison, slow, and stun traps.

Just realize as support class you may be confined to a somewhat boring role, but parties will be easy to find.
Kamael is never boring, you just sometimes have to convince people to group you.
Thanks for the replies guys. Ok im now level 18 and so far its been pretty boring since i only have the one worthwhile skill. I'm hoping if i choose trooper things will get a little more varied and interesting. I'm rather disappointed so far though since i dont seem to deal out enough damage to compensate for my horrible heatlh points. Or maybe its just that wing...getting on my nerves haha (am i really stuck with one wing until level 72?).
on 78 you have skill
"final form"

giving you a change, second wing, and making your char "small Raid Boss";p

Kamael getting his abbilities on 40+,
till that lvl is quite borring game tho.

You will get skills more and more, and only few of them are useless. As soul breaker I use skills even from first profession: rush and ud are still very usefull at 5x or even 7x level.

Btw, at 58lvl, you will have all 3 visible tab bars filled with actions and skills.
I like soulbreaker because he:
- have ww toggle, dark def/attack toggle, unfortunattely strike back toggle is uselles
- some buffs
- root, silence and fear (crowd control), emergency teleport back with AoE stun
- nuke skills, burst damage skills
- and as I say, rush is very usefull...no reuse time...almost blink to target. Ok range is not great, but is enough for pvp/pve.
- ahh, and nuke skill which do damage regarding how much buff enemy have, and buff stealing .... imagine soulbreaker with destro frenzy, zealot, rage and dagger mirrage and focus death .... it is quite possible with 78lvl soulbreaker to steal such buffs during pvp.
Learn to love the one wing, you will be like that forever :P

Final Form is a five minute transformation at level 79 with 4 hour reuse.

You will have a lot more skills when you change to Trooper at level 20.

And yes you will be using rush and UD (sword shield) at all levels.
ok just an update here... umm ive near given up on my kamael

This isnt because i dont like him its mainly because im sick of the grind already and dont see any point if im not meeting ppl along the way to help me out and chat with etc, uh so im not really sure what to do...

i reached 26 and im bored witless...anyone play on the pheonix server?
You're not going to meet that many people at 26. In fact I'd say pre 36-40 it can be pretty dry also. You should be able to get yourself into a nice clan by the 30's though.

It get's much better when you're in a clan, but if you're sick of the pedestrian, barely anything, lowbie grind, you're in for a world of hurt if you ever to to B grade+ (level 52). Lineage 2 is grind, grind, failure, and more grind.

Some people love it. Some people hate it but deal with it because there are other nice things in the game that make it worth it. Some people just completely hate it and would rather play something else. Before you invest too much more time, I'd quickly decide which of those you are...
Also, Kamael skills are kinda meh till 40. After your 2nd class change you'll start getting more skills that will make your grind a lot more fun. I'm on phoenix. If you are interested in a clan, I can probably set you up in ours. I've only been playing a couple weeks and they have been super helpful. Send a message to any of the characters in my sig. This game is a loooooong grind, but it's a ton of fun when you are playing w/ friends.
I hate to turn people away from a game I love, but this game may not be for you.

Let me give you some perspective. When someone grinds to lvl 82, they are still not even half way to the current top level of 85.

When you go from zero to 20 you will have accumulated 835,862 exp.
When you hit lvl 40: 15,422,938
at level 60: 126,509,653
at level 80: just over 4 Billion. That is right 4 billion.
81:6.3 Bill
82:8.8 Bill
83:11.8 Bill
84:15.4 Bill
85:19.8 Bill

It will take you a few years to reach the top levels if you are a hardcore grinder with Out of party support.

Luckily, Lineage II has made the grind much easier with the introduction of the newbie buffs and Vitality.

To be blunt, you need to get to lvl 30ish before you start to really meet people. I recommend get to level 30 and start getting into Raid groups including the kamaloka groups.
Almost everyone you level with at that point, will be players just working on lowbie alts. There is not alot of new blood coming into this game. But, if you stick it out and get into the higher levels , the Seiges are alot of fun , as well as the pvp and epic raid bosses.

Goodluck and if the grind is still too much for you, I would like to direct you to WoW. The fisher price of mmos made easy and simple for everyone to enjoy.
Thanks for the replies guys. Its not the grind which i dislike really its more the lack of ppl around to talk to and group with that really bores me.

More and more people keep telling me that nobody groups and i wont find groups until 62+.

I am trying to find friends and people to talk to and group with but its very hard :( so if you are interested in grouping and or possibly helping a level 36 kamael please say so :)

Also im rather confused about certain skills i have now such as death mark and would you guys recommend me using my soul skills only when i have the 5 souls the skill says i need to use it? As it apparently does more damage when i have the 5 souls for it to consume but i dont see any difference really.

Oh and why do we get so many useless skills such as disarm and courage and the dark attack and resist dark attack buffs? I haven't encountered any situation in which i needed to use such skills...or should i be using them?

cya :)
The skill list is out dated, before gracia, kamaels needed souls to even use skills... now they act like a power booster, the more souls you have the more powerful your skills are.

Courage and Disarm are far from being useless... Our disarm is not as powerful as the zerker's but it lands... I landed it on a lvl 80 archer and won the pvp. The dark attk and resist are a must, you will learn it later in game. Death mark is a great debuff. When it lands, it makes a POISON effect on your target (it means he will slowly lower the hp of your opponent) but the best thing is that it lets you use a skill called Checkmate, which you will get later in game and it does INCREDIBLE damage (I hit for more than 4k damage)

Feel free to ask any questions, you have started one of the most complicated and missunderstood classes... but definetely and probably the strongest and more dangerous of all at high level.
Xardan (http://boards.lineage2.com/member.php?u=124953) you will not regret this choice :).

I play for a long time different toons, and until now I start enjoying the game with my Kamael which didnt happen since years ago!

ITs like a L2 developer whats thiking what class could make me happy and so it create Kamael for me :P *just kidding*.

Just keep llving up and learn more skills.
Just chiming in again for encouragement. Got my Kamael to 53 after a couple weeks of playing this game, and it just keeps getting better and better. I actually look forward to my grind sessions. SB has so many ways to take down mobs. If you get bored just swap up ur style. Keep at it man. If you need anything ingame send me pm on either character in my sig.
some of the very best Kamael skills - disarm, steal divinity and many others - are PVP skills only, and won't do anything to mobs to help you level faster. Also, as you level up and get more skills it will get more interesting quickly. My soul breaker sub is 59 now, and I have hold and silence which is great for dealing with different mobs or neutralizing one mob while I kill another one nearby. level 36 is still very low; try to get in daily Kamaloka raid parties to meet people; be a pest and pm every hero you see shout to hero shout for you, your name level and class LFG. Also joining an active clan is vital to keep things interesting of course; even if you cannot party with them it will be people to talk to while you grind.
Msg Vknight to discuss joining Cutetraders. I started playing 7 or 8 weeks ago and joining the clan has worked wonders for me. Plus we "the clan" has a castle now! Also - from 7 to 8 weeks of playing I can say lvl 40 will come quick so don't mind the boring pre 40 skills too much.

It's the first toon that takes the longest to lvl to 40 since you're still trying to figure out where to buy items, where to grind, what quests not to do (almost all of them at low lvls). On my new Kamael I just skipped the last newbie quest since I couldn't figure out where the button is to enter CRTR to enter the cave. Grinding went quick though with all the beginner Soulshots you get from the first few newbie quests.
on 78 you have skill
"final form"

79*
Blakwulf :) wait until you reach s grade on your Soulbreaker... you will love the class ^^

You cannot imagine how it is to tease destroyers in pvp ^^ and slowly killing them while they think they have "a lot" of cp/hp, and that you are running away from them :P and then... Painkiller and bam! close to him hitting him for 3-4k with checkmate and SE hehehe it is really fun...

And then the comments at the end "you cancelled my buffs"... "I thought chickens were weak"... "how on earth!!" it is really fun, way different than zerker.

Hmm that quest is easy , you just needed to go where the book was , to one of the statue holding a book . Strange you didnt figure it out

Thanks for all the replies guys. i have reached level 52 and have decided to no longer play.

I really dont enjoy the solo grind, i find it lonely and despite the support for new players i dont think its enough.

I think the community is too old and there isnt any interest in low level players, its all about the grind and i dont like that.

I did have some fun times but they were too far and between.

The economy is interesting and i put alot of effort into making some adena, but the amount i have earned is far from what i need to purchase new equipment.

Well i dont really know what else to say besides...well it was a pleasant jounrey... but i dont think i have the dedication to go any further.

:)
Well I just hit 52 myself man and it is pretty boring up until now. I moved to a new hunting spot and met some new people. I'm loving all my skills and frequently duel anyone i can, no matter what lvl just to learn my class. I hate to see a fellow kamael leave, but sometimes it's just what's meant to be. Good luck.
You should find an academy of a clan as soon as you reach lvl 10.

It is like in real life - nobody care that you should have fun (ok, unless you pay for that).
Some suggestions for you:
- looks like you hunting in easy places. Ok, maybe it is ok for experienced players (best exp per time), but try to go more harder places, try to find other places to hunt mobs (massing) and etc.
- you can forget a little about pve try following:
- got to monster derby track and look around what happening. Ok, if you try to fight to someone, you will lose probably 99% times.
- be bad guy, try to push all rounding players out of yours hunting spot - this place is yours isn't? :)
- some quests are quite interesting

Everyone knows that grinding is boring, there is nothing to do about that, so try to find fun yourself.
