So why is the 2 handed sword better than 2 handed blunt for single target PVE? Blunt gets more skills, has masteries, and most 2 handed blunts have the same Patt as their same tier 2 handed sword brethren? I'm all in favor of 2 handed swords, I just wanna know why. Is it because they crit more? Will this make up for the lack of skills & masteries you have w/ a blunt?
pretty simple really once fully buffed
you can walk around with 30% more crit or like 80 more pattack, if you have any idea what the crit system is like in L2 then you don't even need to think about what to use
if you use a sword you do miss out on blunt mastery which is a 50% chance to trigger on a crit (lol) and reduces mp use and raises stun chance which my tests show as an increase within the margin of error so it might not work at all
skills are cool and all but imo the 2 best skills we have - armor crush and fatal strike are both usable with a sword so all you miss out on is hammer crush and stun attack which i don't think are worth wasting mp on when you could just crit a couple of times and vr back triple the damage you would have got on a stunned mob
PVP is debatable. you could run around with a sword fully buffed and try to play gimp destro where critting a mage/dagger/archer a few times in a row does some damage or you could run around with a blunt trying to stun low con classes so your team can finish them off but i definately wouldn't run around with a blunt pretending to be a DD
minimal buffs with skill spam a blunt easily out damages a sword
most ppl roll with a one hander for faster skill use and cooldown with a bit of shield block goodness throw in as bonus
I use a Dragon Hunter Axe /w health and Draconic set (borrowed from GH) and all light armor masteries learned, all blunt masteries learned and I solo Varka Generals at lvl 76.
It works for me, not sure how different it would be in heavy and a 2handed sword but I did use a +8 Guardian Sword on my BH from 58-70 untill I changed it to a Star Buster and haven't turned back from a 2 handed blunt since.
I will eventually try getting a Heavens Divider when my destroyer sub reaches 76 and test it out on my FS, though I ain't sure but won't you lose a lot of accuracy? I always thought blunt weapons had some of the best accuracy in the game, if not the best.
You dont really need too much accuracy if you have stacked crit buffs. You just need a wep that actually crits. And no blunt does that to an efficient degree.
yeah blunts have the best accuracy but the DPS on a fully buffed dorf with a sword is 57ish% (ignoring sharp edge) more than with a blunt so even if you do have 50% more accuracy (you don't) it's still not gonna bring you close to that damage difference because of the way crit damage stacks
also i wouldn't knock you for wearing drac even though light armor is lol on dorfs since it is a good compromise between the DPS of tallum and the defense on IC and i'm seriously considering picking up a set myself
I use a Dragon Hunter Axe /w health and Draconic set ...
Dont mean to derail the thread, but I was wondering about this Drac set idea. Anyone else use this instead of IC? How do you find it, good/bad, stick to IC? what?
dorfs suck in light but having said that IC isn't exactly a DD set so i prefer to run around in tallum which is great for killing ppl and mobs unless they actually notice you in which case you won't last long
i'd consider drac as a good half way point between tallum and IC, lacking a fair bit in the pdef department but the 4% pattack and attack speed makes you feel like you aint just pretending to be a tank
unfortunately Tallum make it difficult to pull in higher level areas. I would expect Drac with evasion buffs/songs/skill enchants wouldn't be too bad of a setup.

Drac looks better than IC. Any thoughts?
I'm 82 and still using Tallum. Pretty good, and I don't want to change it for draconic.
As for olimpiad I'd say bassalt wins due to skill spam, yeah. and Polearm skills rock too!
