The image isn't cropped properly (missing a fail message between the two sets of dark stone disappeared messages), but I guess it catches the gist of it.

10 Stones - 8 Files before the last two succeed.

My luck so far: 4 Success out of 29 Attempts

That should be somewhere around 13.7931% - Correct?

The Korean RNG never ceases to fail me.

At this rate I only need about 200 more to get a 150 weapon.

Think I'm gonna just remove the attribute and level sub to 76 fast. It's not worth my time or Adena to keep doing this, Lol.
that's really bad, when you get that much fails in a row (more than like 4 I think) you should stop and wait a few hours/days or perhaps give the weapon and the stones to another char to try.
I have also bad luck but at enchanting d grade armor to +6 .
Bought like 100ead with cubics and tried to enchant manticore pieces but all failed :P

KRandom to its finest :(
I was pretty unlucky on my mace too (~30% successrate) till I succeeded 5/6 stones last week...

this is a different issue. Unliek with weapon OE, armor OE success chances are diminished depending on number of OE you successfully done already on this item. Thus if you have +3 armor piece and +4 armor piece (+4 and +5 for full body piece), the chances to OE each of these items are not equal. After +5 the chance to succeed is about 15% (if not less) so you have to get about 10 items to +5 just to have a decent chance to get any +6.

With the attribute stones, I think the chance is 50% for BBH I got to 150 water myself. For the AM, I had worse luck so far, 4 fails 2 successes. Who knows, maybe attribute stone success rate is different for mage and warrior weapons, like they are for regular OE? that would explain a few things...
Wow, the game just hates you. You should apologize!
I have know idea if it really makes any difference but. The first 10 stones I tried 8 failed. Next time I tried I only had 3 stones I unequiped the wep and all three worked. From then on I unequiped my mace before trying ended up taking 42 stones to get 150 water. Not to bad of odds there.
The first weapon I ever did failed about 40%. Everyone since then has been -20%. On one of the weapons I actually use I only failed 2 stones going all the way too 150.

It's experience! You're holding the stones wrong as you enchant! You need more of an angle and a spin in the wrist ^_^.

Aden Church, Bunny Ears and "Koreans are my friends" mantra too!
Took me 52 stones to get my Forgotten Blade to 150 Fire. I had a few failure strings in that time but nothing as bad as that! I'd usually try to element in the center of a clan hall, in that circular design on the main carpet.
I've succeeded 9 out of 12 divine so far. I spent a few moments meditating on success rather than worrying about failure. I know it seems weird, but it seems to work for me with many things that involve luck.

I used to fail as often as I succeed now, but then I was expecting it each time, always that phrase Korean random ringing through my head. :p
I think it all evens out in the end. I had 11 fails in a row for my 150 Holy Mace... but then several succeeded in a row. Koreans have a very skewed idea of what "random" means. :)
It's just like that for some people. Be it lag, ping, or whatever that affects Korean Random. I failed way more than can be explained by normal random.
I had a friend put on attributes for me because I didn't feel like wasting more stones.
you should just try 5 stones per day till you hit 150
30 Stones over the course of 7 months is enough days in there, IMO.

I cannot afford to spend 50M a day.

I did 10 because my experience has shown me that with 5 I have a high chance to spend adena and have nothing to show for it.

I was right, because the first 8 stones out of that batch (10) failed.

I wouldn't mind trying 5 Water stones per day after I get my sub to 76, though...

I tried another one today and it passed. Maybe next month I'll try some more.
wow thats worse the me =(
My suggestion would be: give it to you alt character to add stones, because(in my opinion) koreans has put a lot of different randons directly assositated with your char in some way. Maybe it's just a pure luck but for example my main SK crafts like 95% succes rate. 6/6 IC boots, 8/8 IC helms, 3/4 Drac gloves, 29/34 DC gloves(back in interlude when I was trying to raise money for B grade), 2/2 IC breastplate. 2/4 IC gaitters, 1/1 dynasty boots 1/1 dynasty gloves(for friend) ofc 5/5 all my tateo set. But at the same time my main SK is ******* terible at OE'ing fings. I hardly pass +4 /+5 line even for fighter weapons while my TH(on same account) does +6 almost every time.

You can call this pure luck but it's really the fact that my SK is just a crafting beast while he can't OE a ****. Crafted dynasty gloves/boots for friend and already w8ing for another dynasty crafts because when I go to craft I'm almost certain that I won't fail.

Still found some screens on imageshack how I was crafting back in interlude/ct1 ^^

I always find it funny watching people say 'Korean random is weird'. Actually the L2 RNG is the closest I've seen to genuinely random. A lot of games out there know that streaks are 'bad' from the perspective of the player, so they design their RNG to minimize this. For instance, if something has a 60% chance, they'll engineer it so if you fail a bunch, you have more chance of succeeding the next one (but overall it's still 60%). In L2 on the other hand you see ridiculous streaks on both sides of the coin (success and fail), which is what you'd actually expect true random to act like.

On the subject of attribute stones, we tallied together a lot of data over our whole clan and came up with a figure of about 30% success rate (on weapons - higher on armor). This is from a sample size of over 300 stones. So think of it as the chance to FAIL a 70% jewelry craft :)

Personally I'm on 33% (21 attempts, 7 successes using wind stones on Arcana Mace). They really don't succeed very often. Even on armor I'm only 40% ... but the sample size is too small there to be confident (2 from 5 successful).

Umm...I seriously doubt that result. 50% is pretty much the accepted success rate on weapons, over time of course. I personally have as many attempts as your whole clan and have come in at just over 50% in total.

The problem with a collection of data from many people is that those with a complaint are more likely to remember their results and also more likely to report them. You've got a self selected sample, some of whom probably exaggerate their misfortune, even in their own mind. It's a statistical nightmare.

The one thing I don't understand are the people who claim to have only had 1-3 failures in getting to 150. Even at 50%, that's extraordinarily unlikely, yet I've heard several people make that claim. Whether it's just selective memory about that weapon (they've forgotten the other 5 stones they failed on it) or what, I don't know. The odds of having 2 failures to 27 successes, at a 50% chance, are about 1 in 600,000. At a 33% chance of success it would go down to 1 in 20,000,000,000.

Fully agree. I was just throwing the numbers I had gathered out there. I didn't state "this is the truth so believe it!" It could well be 50% and we just have an unluckier than average clan ;) For me though it's nowhere near 50% and most people I've talked to are nowhere near 50%. Frankly if it were 50%, that's not too bad I suppose. I've been holding off on buying wind stones just because I can't bear the thought of buying 3 (180 million adena!) and only 1 succeeding or perhaps none.

You have seen the Lineage II source code?
You have seen the Lineage II source code?

While he probably hasn't, it's always possible, the server code was leaked at one point.

Most applications on your computer just use a standard linear congruential random number generator, it's a built in functionality of any modern computer language and there's really no reason why they would write their own for L2. Without seeing the code of course no one can be sure, but it's one of those things they'd really have to go out of their way to screw up (not that I'd put it beyond them....).
I heard that the chance is 50%, well i think u was very unlucky when were 10 attribute failed, but maybe after these every attribute on your wep will successful.
maybe it 's cheaper to buy +150 mace.

WTS +3 AM acu 150 dark around 950 mil in Bartz~~
GF tren
i was convinced my HD was cursed with how many fails it's had (about 30ish for 50 fire) and even though i managed about 10/12 of the last lot of stones i done it's still way way way out of the 50% ppl keep quoting
Sorry :(

My mace ended up being like 50%, but my BF's mace so far is 19 fails and 1 success on divine stones... maybe it is divine/unholy?
used 1 divine on a set of gloves and it succeeded. used 3 divine on my pole today and 2/3 worked
just KRandom owning another player i'd say
The NC soft random numbers are not random at all.
Just as an example: I got as augments on 4 out 5 of my maj jewels increase mental P atk, which seems quite rare to start with....

There were issues with the EverQuest RNG that had to be fixed by the Devs. The SOE Devs were pretty open about discussing it with the community.

The L2 RNG can be a totally cluster<g> and we most likely won't know about it because we get absolutely no communication from the dev team and hardly any from anyone who knows those types of detail.

The reason why people talk of the "Korean RNG" is because Korean games are usually the ones that make you fail horribly at everything that has to do with "luck". At least for the majority of players.

And no, I don't believe the 50% non-sense. At least not anymore. Consider me a skeptic :P

I've been wondering this...

I was 2 for 19 before I tried thsoe stones... Maybe the similarity is merely coincidence, though...
i failed my first 18 firestones ina row once.
