I'm away celebrating easter, and decided to post on these forums. I have played most major MMOs - lately WoW, Warhammer Online and Age of Conan. A week or so ago I started playing L2. The game itself looks interesting, and I get a bit of the oldschool feeling I missed in those above mentioned games.
However, a truely awful experience so far is the gaming community. The players I have encountered are just terrible. Either they don't speak english, they have no clues about common MMO mechanics ( aggro, aoe, etc). "Go go...kill" is put on the edge about the most fruitfull talks I have had in groups.
So, my new MMO avatar is a lvl 42 Human Paladin on the Teon Server. My preferred form of lvling in MMOs have usually been AOE ( big pulls and kill all mobs at the same time). In L2 I have been playing around with this in the catacombs using a pole.
Is it anyone here who also is missing a good community, have skills and experience from either L2 or other MMOs, and prefer team-play rather than solo-play ?
I hope I can get in touch with some nice people, and also I would love some advice or links to good aoe-spots for lvling up besides the catacombs( or a page with the lvlrange of the different catacombs)
I'm still away for easter and unable to play, but I have been using some evenings to do more research on L2. I have gotten some nice replies to other threads I have made, but I still haven't found any good Clans. I started playing on the Teon server, but I wouldn't mind doing a server transfer if the community seems a lot better on another server.
Anyone here have some advice ? I have read that others also seem to be frustrated about the lack of partying, and as an example I can tell that during my week in the game I was all the time using the looking-for-group feature, and only met 2 people through it !
Hi I don't know where you are from but Teon is a Euro server so there are alot of players who don't speak english on there. But the Euro servers still do have a decent amount of english speaking players. To be honest all servers have quit a few players who don't or prefer not to speak english. I wouldn't make that a barrier to playing any server.
I imagine your biggest issue with team play is going to be catching up to everyone else. L2 is 5 years old and most players are 70+. Alot of us have alts at various lvls but I would say most are higher than 40's. It's nice to see new players to L2 just be patient starting out it takes quite a while to catch up.
AOE is still fun but has been nerfed a bit but it still the best way to lvl specially at your lvl. Your only 42 now and if you can find a clan to go to no matter what server don't let starting over stop you. Getting back to that lvl is easy specially if you have some help with decent gear.
Believe it or not there are still good decent people playing this game that will help you out and get you going in the right direction. I don't know what hours you play or what time zone you are in but that might be an issue finding a clan or parties dpending on what server you are playing on.
Give some more info like where you are from and time zone and we can tell you the servers that would be better for you to be on. Plus look further down in the forums and read through some of the server forums you might get an idea what they are about.
