Just to remind you of - macros

Once on the Macro menu, to create a macro press "Add", then select an icon for the macro. Type in the macro's name, acronym, description (press "More Info" to enter a description) and up to 12 commands. A macro's name can be up to 12 characters, and the description up to 32 characters. Each individual macro has a total of 12 input (or command) windows. One slash command and its accompanying details can be typed into the input window with a maximum of 32 characters. Once a macro is created, you can use it by placing the icon associated with it on the hotkey bar.

Slash (/) commands and chatting symbols supported in the game can be used in macros. Substitute characters can also be used to add additional delays or input a desired name. This means that the commands input into a macro are the ones that can be performed by inputting them directly into the chat input window.

Substitute Characters for Macros

Substitute characters are commands for which the target's name has been automatically given. The types and methods of using substitute characters are as follows.

%target: The name of the target being targeted is shown.

%self: One's own name is shown.

%pet: One's own pet name is shown.

%party1 ~ %party8: The first - eighth party member names are shown.

Macro Commands

/delay [time]: Wait until time (sec). If this command is entered, the following command is performed after waiting the set number of seconds.

Other actions can be used with slash commands and so they can be used in macros.

/sit, /stand, /sitstand, /walk, /run, /walkrun, /attack, /attackforce, /exchange,
/targetnext, /pickup, /assist, /invite, /leave, /partymatching, /vendor, /buy,
/personalmanufacture, /mountdismount, /socialno, /socialyes, /socialbow,
/socialunaware, /socialwaitinga, /sociallaugh, /socialapplause, /socialdance, /socialsad,
/time, /loc, /partyinfo

Chat input is also used in the same way as the method of inputting into the chat window.

~ (local chat), # (party chat), @ (clan chat), $ (alliance chat), ! (shout chat), + (trade chat)

When using chatting in a macro, to prevent excessive chat that just fills up the window, the output is delayed automatically in the chat window. However, the buy/sell window is an exception to this.

Use of the Shortcut Bar through Macros

By dragging and dropping the shortcut icons to the macro edit window, the use of the respective shortcuts becomes possible. Directly editing with slash commands is as follows.

/useshortcut [container number] [shortcut slot number]: Uses the respective shortcut. In the event that a component that is designated to a shortcut is a delayed skill, it is used after waiting the delay time.

/useshortcutforce [container number] [shortcut slot number]: Uses the respective shortcut with the effect of the Ctrl key. In the event that a component that is designated to a shortcut is a delayed skill, it is used after waiting the delay time.

Using Skills with Macros

Use is made possible by dragging and dropping the desired skill icon to the macro edit window. The direct editing of slash commands is as follows.

/useskill [skill name]: Uses the respective skill. For skills with a delay time, it is used after waiting the delay time.

/useskillforce [skillname]: Uses the respective skill with the effect of the Ctrl key. For skills with a delay time, it is used after waiting the delay time.

Stopping a Macro

In the event that the user carries out some action directly while performing a macro, the respective macro stops immediately. This includes speaking in the chat channels and moving the character.

In the event of using another macro again within a macro, the macro stops while a message saying "This is an unsuitable macro" appears.

/useskillforce So if you have trouble killing in pvp cause you have to keep tagging forceattack [Ctrl] at the same time as you smash your attack buttons, just add the macro to to your grinding so you have automated your defense.

Sharing ideas gives satisfaction :D

ps. Iw seen Tr9y in Teon use a macro where he tells in party what mobs he has debuffed or what he wants to be taken down in order. Im not sure what macro you use for (a) activating the target and (b) then using a macro to tell everyone who is targeted in your macro. Any ideas would be welcome.
Macro would be like this:
1. #Assist me for >>> %target

This will shout the party to assist for that mob. In this case I find it useless since you being the MA, do not need to shout the name of the mob u are hitting. Your party is already supposed to double right click your name all the time.

However, a support char could have more efficient party macros like this:

1. #Don't attack %target, I put him into sleep.

This will tell the rest of the party NOT to wake up the mob. But again, a well experienced player and a good party do not need this kind of things.

If you know your role you play it ^^. For instance, In pagans I know that a) I should buff everyone with protection from darkness, b) I should immediately cast silence in the drain mobs and root the mob that come to hit the MA. c)Double rightclick the MA to assit him. Being a SoulHound this is the best way of playing my role inside that area. Same in IT or MoS or any other spot. Not once I've had the need to use or even read a macro like that.
This is good info but will get lost here >< maybe you could copy it to the Player Guides section and just point to the link here :)
/useskill [skill name]: Uses the respective skill. For skills with a delay time, it is used after waiting the delay time.
not true afaik
most times if you do that you will get "the skill is not ready. wait blah blah seconds" and the macro will stop

true most of the time but i know i have an attack macro and a pick up macro that continue to run even when i type in PMs (havent tried other macros or chat channels

macros have been broken for a long time now... the only solution to this is to have the skill in your 'visible' shortcuts and then add it from there to macro, ie. do not add 'skill: might' to macro, but add 'shortcut 2 1' to macro (which in turn is a reference to skill:might)

This macro is for use by healers and by PvP targetters.

This macro is completely useless. In a bad party no one will have time to listen to it anyway.
jeje imo all those macros are useless... the first 1 has some utility in mass pvp and ofc, in minions raids.

What kind of attack and pickup macros you have? Interested to enhance my action bar :D

Why so serious?
Why not?
Nice post man.
Some advice on how to Macro a buffer/healer box.

If you decide to dualbox I suggest you make macros for your buffer/healer so that it does all from 1button press. You can have Macros like: fullbuffdd; fullbuffbuffer; heald; megahealdd.

Easy Macro for 1 button burst heal so that the buffer keeps on running after target after healing:

/target (person who you target)
/heal
/heal
/heal
/target (person whom you want him to follow after heals so no need to come back to take target again)

or a bit different:

/Target (person who you want to buff)
/useskill battle heal
/useskill battle heal
/useskill Bless the blood
/useskill greater heal
/Target (the person who your buffer is supposed to follow)

Maybe the best way is to drag the skills to macro slots from skills themselves. Dont macro them from your bars since it takes room in your quickkey slot. (im open to discussion on this since after I started to /useskill it often happens that my buffer does 1 buff and stops)

Now, when you need to thrown in a small heal set to your dd just activate the buffer window and have your /smallheal in F1 and press F1 quick and return to your original DD. As explained earlier, the macro will make your buffer/healer follow your target automatically after the round.

Maybe this was something you understood already but I sometimes have a habit of trying to oversimplify the ideas in order that even the smallest guy grasps what we talk of.

peace out

ps. oh I have a problem making the SE automatically follow me after it does its own buffs/heals... any advice?
Another useful macro if you use a wolf for instance. Make a basic attack macro that you keep pressing non-stop anyway:

/attack
/useshortcut 1 5 (you need to use shortcut for pet SS and you need to put it before /petattack)
/petattack

Basically, explained in ABC language, you attack, the pet uses SS, and then it attacks buffed with its SS.

Maybe you could add your own SS use into that as well. Gotta try...
Best macro for two accounts

/invite alt A
/invite alt B
/invite alt C
/invite alt D
/invite alt E
/delay 4
/changepartyleader alt A
/target alt A
/target alt A

(Alt A being my main on main account, and final lines so it follows)
NB if you dont want it to transfer party leader, just do an action after invite to break the macro.

Works a treat so that I can use the buffers with any toon on my main account with no drama.

Further, put all your alts on your second account on your 'friends list', then when you are in the process of logging them on, you know when they are finally in game!
.....

You can automate both your own and your pets ss usage

Also, macros work better and get bugged less if you /useshortcut instead of /useskill... my PP always miss focus/haste for some reason, until i changed the macro to /useskill and it works fine every time now
Lately I've been getting a message stating that I need to wait 100+ hours before I can reuse the skill listed on the macro, why is this?
Post a nice CP macro plz :)

When you make a Macro its a good idea to try one line at a time. in this way you can easily identify which line is causing the problem. ie

/target TwistedRain

Now run the Macro and see if you are targeting yourself. Now drag the skill you want and run the Macro again and see if it uses the skill. Then do the next command and run the macro...and so on.
Sounds to me like you may have made a mistake in dragging over a skill or mistyped a delay.
Why are you all advocating boxing/botting? I mean only cheaters use macros for their boxed/botted toons right?

Sorry, I just couldn't resist :) <3 pirotessa

no, when you use macros sometimes you get bugged and cant reuse skill for 1000 hours

/target Ashleigh
/useskillforce BIG HAMMER

:p
Well I dont mind if Pirotesa hates me for multiboxing. But I have a very serious stress-disorder (cant study, cant work) whyfore I cant play in parties/raids/pvp etc. My only way to play the game is to dual box. I dont consider myself as a cheater since I have a good reason to box.

But I dont respect the boxers who hypocritically pretend to be 100% legit when in fact they use "external sources" for succeeding in game. Using external sources goes into same category with "buying adena" for instance.

But anyway; this is a macro thread - not a a thread about whose legit and whose not. I will not let you ninja-troll-thread my thread that people have liked so far.

every single one of my toons gets a pick up macro before it has even killed it's first gremlin and it's basically /pickup for 10 (or w/e) times
my attack macros were made because i was boxing my SE in aoe on stun mobs and she had to run around and grab extra mobs for me while i killed so my attack and nextattack macros are just
/attack (/targetnext /attack /servitorattack)
/delay 1
/attack
for the whole macro and it was amazing how effective that made my aoe since i can just hit 1 button and switch screens with zero fear that stun was gonna get me killed so i kept em

Also its not that we are short of of keybars since there are 10 slots so I could just hide my spells to 4-10 and have my active casts on 1-3....

Another way to go around this bug, when you have the macros set as /useskill xxx in your boxed toon is to keep their skills window open.. you can move it in such a way that it doesnt block your view, but keeping it open helps reducing the 'you need to wait xxxx time to reuse skill' msg alot...

If you want to make auto follow always work, put x2 /target LordRiot, into the bar. Just watch out as if you flag as your buffer might kill you :P

For those with SE buffers wanting to exploit the new Scar of Shillen debuff (melee surrender) on multi hp mobs (x4 or higher if your a 'good' dd, lower if your damage sucks), this should work..

/assist LordRiot
/use shortcut (whereever you put it)
/target LordRiot
/target LordRiot
If you use the /attack LordRiot and you flag it will attack you... But I've been flagged and have used the 2x /target macro and it does not attack the toon.
If you use the /attack LordRiot and you flag it will attack you... But I've been flagged and have used the 2x /target macro and it does not attack the toon.
If it's in your party (or has some other reason to require /attackforce to attack purple people), neither /target/target nor /target/attack will cause it to attack you. But if it attacks you with /target/attack, it will also attack you with /target/target.

Also, equipping it with a fishing pole prevents it from attacking you (or enyone else).
true...

I used to use only the /attack in the last line of macro but when I flagged I got attacked by the toon... with 2x /target you don't get attacked ever even if you are flagged ^^ I prooved it yesterday.
Hey, sometimes I'm selfish and go OOP ^_^.
lmao ^^
Hey, sometimes I'm selfish and go OOP ^_^.

my buffer has ended up dead because of that.. pvp, we flag, have the buffer follow, he attacks me, then some1 in party uses next target, and we all massacre my buffer :S
