highest damage doesnt not make you the best pvper.

you need to control your damage and control how well you TAKE damage.

Hawkeye can give great damage and can take better damage than a Phantom ranger.

a Tank's job in PVP is to MISDIRECT. to take the attention of the archers so that other groups can move forward. Shilien Templar isnt a great Damage Dealer but can be a fierce Tank.

Go hawkeye for the sick carrying capacity and "tank-like" hps like 95% of the population already has.


Go shilien knight if you want to slowly level and gouge your eyes out while doing so.

Since you appear to be quite new, I would recommend either an archer class or dagger class, anything that can level at a relatively nice pace

Remember that in L2 there's no "better", there's "different".

Phantom Ranger has the highest dmg of all archers, but in the other hand, the lowest HP.

Hawkeye has decent dmg and highest HP of all archers. Plus they have Dash, wich is amazing to either pursue running enemies or run away from enemies as well :p.

Personally, I like more Phantom Ranger. With +5 STR and +4DEX they are insane. But with that setup u are pretty much a paper cannon, aka u can get killed easier, and easier than a Hawkeye :).

If u have decent clan with experienced tanks/healers in ur party, I suggest u go Phantom Ranger w/o thinking twice.

Regarding SKs, well they are the second best tank for pvp and the most fun tank to play imo (strongest in pvp is dark avenger imo). But, as any other tank, they are more for TANK than to do dmg hehe.

That's just imo.

I subbed HE my GhostHunter following my Ally Leader's advice about how much better HEs are for Epic Raids and Mass PvP etc but when i see PRs i envy them and part of me regret not picking PR for sub.

PR is harder class to play than HE but a lot more rewarding if played well.
Ofc good Gear and Epics is always the main factor apart from player skill.

Why dont u delete ur HE sub and roll a PR? :D. Too high to simple delete?

Play what appeals to you more, and the reward is far greater in the end, no madder what you chose.

Biased opinion -

Shilien Templar (Knight) is a very versatile class and you may not get as many pvp points in mass pvp but you can be a crucial part of any pvp, or pve as long as you know how to play your class. So far I have loved leveling with my SK and have enjoyed both the pvp and pve aspect, cubic's are wonderful, and you can play SK offensive or defensive.

It's 77lvl and no time to lvl another :(
