Crystallization

Confused about this skill. From reading online I've been able to find out that both class lines have access to it now, and it coincides with expertise proficiencies. I know that its basically breaking items into crystals that are in turn used for crafting, especially shots. What I don't know is how is this skill used? In the ability tab its labeled passive. So how is it activated? Isn't it true that other classes can gain crystals by overenchanting an item to failure? How is this crystallization skill different than that?

There are a number of guides as to how to make money via crystallization, tables etc. But nothing seems to say the most basic thing, how is it actually used?

When you get the skill, you will see a special icon opposite the "trash" icon, under your inventory. Drag and drop the items you want to crystallize onto that.

I believe they have changed it some time in the past so you can crystallize items if you drag and drop them on the trash icon, too.

either class being able to crush is huge now with the common drops... they fill up everyone's inventory like whoaaa
