Class Suggestions?

I have been playing a Plainswalker on and off since launch. My friend is about to start L2 and will probably choose a nuker. I want to roll an alt to level up with him.

I like the DD aspect of plainswalker class... but I wouldn't mind doing some support as well. I still want to be able to solo when necessary. I don't want it to be an impossible char to level up. What's a fun class that can level up quickly and support others a bit more than PW?
sws/bd and stick in parties :) or anything really, all classes have their places in endgame, albeit some are more desired than others.

se ftw
se ftw

agreed. any nuker needs a se to lvl unless u wanna spend most of your time waiting for mp. they'll be able to 1 or 2 shot most mobs w/ emp and u can level forever if u manage ur mp right and get an occassional herb drop. However, i find recharging nukers boring as anything. And with inquisitor it's not so impossible to level on your own anymore.

Or your nuker friend could lvl up a kookaburra that will give buffs and mp. Then you'd have more freedom in what you choose. Bd always good option for dance of concentration and mystic (and siren once u get high enough).

The thing w/ nukers is they can one or two shot most mobs, so by the time a melee gets there all you have to do is pick up the drops.
Becuase I plan to duo a lot with this nuker, can SWS support magic users well, or is BD the only good class for that?

EDIT: jsut saw Ryne's post... can SE level up and solo fairly ok?

An SE can solo ok now that they have "Inquisitor" (I think that's what it's called) it allows you to become a quasi nuker.
Swordsingers are defensive-oriented buffers that "sing" every 2 minutes. You'll get buffs like Run speed, magic defense, physical defense, physical critical chance (useless for your mage buddy), elemental resists, additional max hitpoints, and far far later you'll receive skill re-use speed, mp regeneration, and melee skill reuse speed songs.

Bladedancers are preferred for "duoing" with a nuker over a swordsinger, though BOTH are necessary for parties. Bladedancers get buffs like physical critical hit power, attack speed buff, physical attack rating buff, vampiric rage (lifedrain on melee), holy weapon (adds 20 holy attribute), as WELL as mage dances for cast speed, magical attack rating, and magic critical chance. Later on you also get a berserk dance which drops your magic defense, physical defense, and evasion, but boosts attack speed, cast speed, run speed, physical attack rating, and magical attack rating.

For leveling up, offense> defense so bladedancers are preferred. Swordsingers are arguably stronger in endgame or pvp scenarios, though both are required for a truly balanced group.

Shillen Elders are the sleeper favorite for support classes this update. They are essentially a buffer that can heal your mate's mp, as well as heal hitpoints, though not anywhere near as well as the real healers (bishop, and elven elder to an extent). Buffs you'll receive from the Shillen Elder are Magic attack power, physical defense rating, physical attack rating, casting non-interrupt buff, mental attack shield (sleep, root, silence), physical critical hit chance and power, physical attack accuracy, magic critical rate, runspeed, and anti -cancel/debuff. These stack with dancers/singers. Also shillen elders get a rather powerful new skill in the expansion, stigma of shillen which is a 900 range (long) physical skill that debuffs an opponent so that physical attacks deal 40% more damage.

Strong, play what you enjoy. I personally would take a shillen elder if you plan on duoing with a mage a lot. The bladedancer is a close second, but that nuker that your friend is playing better be a spellhowler (Dark elf mage) or necro so that they have body to mind to use to keep mp up. Otherwise you will sit a great deal with the nuker/bladedancer-swordsinger combos.

Shillen elder + spellhowler = 1-76 rather easily just the 2 of you.

Hope that helps. I speak from experience. 3 cheers for 78+ shillen elders (saints)
DD...and support, you could try warcryer? Turn on soul cry, drain as much as you need and still have full mp to rebuff. With the new MP VR soloing is a dream + you could add a wolf and go crazy ^^
