Well when you stay insite that small room normally the oly starts before the other one is near you. But yes its really not fair but when you would change that then the fighter would QQ cause they will get killed hard :P
Want to make things 'fair'? Let's start making it so healers can win as often as they lose against other classes...then you can help the nukers and archers.
wow QQ more seriously
any nuker can get off a vortex/buster combo before i'm even in range of the first hit and if for some reason they fail their billion incapacitating skills with 500 billion percent land rate it's not like they are that much slower than me
/changethread
this thread is now about how unfair it is that mages can more easily use buff sticks
yup destros have zealot, tyrants have bunny, WL has shock blast
20 points for who can tell me the 2 classes in game with no ranged skill or way of reaching their opponent quickly

LMAO
A: dorf type 1 and dorf type 2
if we really want to QQ, let's start here: although there is no pdef buff in oly, there is no mdef buff either, but there IS empower buff that increase matk by 75%, oh and zerk buff as well for some moar matk... and might only increase patk by 15%, not like that matters...

Bounty Hunter and...
The lack of defensive buffs in Olympiad is the problem.
EEs do fine in Olympiad, cause their defensive buffs make up for it, especially with nuke augmentations. I have seen Bishops do well in Olympiad with Nuke Augmentations.
For something like a Nuker, it is too easy to get killed by classesl like Gladiators, Tyrants, Destroyers, and Daggers in Olympiad. You take max damage, and they have buffs like Focus, Death Whisper, Haste, WW, Might 3 to go on top of thier boss jewels. Not all classes die in 2 shots, and not all classes have max burst DPS. Not everyone has top gears :P That is why they have to give away things for free just to get more Nobles to sign, now...
They should just make the Olympiad Manager give Adventure Guide buffs to everyone in 1 click, TBH...
When you look at the way the game is itemized, you can clearly see how the lack of defensive buffs in Olympiad is not balanced. That is why classes are usually stacked with very good gear to go in there.
Melees benefit a lot more from offensive Epics than Nukers do.
We have Valakas, Frintezza and Baium. They have all those, and everything else, for the most part.
Enlightenment seems like a skill put in basically for the Olympiad...
Nukers have Curse Fear and can use blessed spirit shots now. Cant really see why anyone would QQ about the gates etc...
It's cause everyone has Mental Shield that Curse Fear isn't something you should rely on...
You'd have to OE that thing to +9 or more to land it on most of the people that sign anyways. I'd say even higher.
If more people of lower gear quality and levels start signing, it may balance the Olympiad a bit more, though.
Another part of the issue is that only geared, almost-max-level people sign now...
as a sorc you need to insta aura flash to make them lose target, it can screw them up!
yup until you come across someone who knows how to hold F1
GF server lag auto retarget :P
A lot of defensive buffs work off your base stats and modify them by percentage, (shield) where others add static bonuses (agility for example). I'd worry that certain enforcer classes would benefit far more from these being added than the less successful classes currently.
Giving Shield to an ET, Pal, ST, HK, Titan, GK, EM, SM, or AL offers a significantly higher amount of defense than giving shield to a spellhowler for example. I'd fear that tanks or other enforcer melee would be even more IMBA than they already are in open, especially if they add prophet elemental resists into the list of buffs receivable. Of the defensive buffs available, I'd say resist shock is one of the few defensive buffs that should be added to the olympiad buffer.
Realistically, I'd prefer to see "adventurers' guide" buffs, either melee or caster flavors choosable for both sides instantly with one click as Tren posted earlier. The only addition I might make to that would be simply, resist shock for everyone. (all the imba oly classes have stun except AL) The problem lies that we would just be changing the guards so to speak from one favored class in the oly to another one. Real balance comes from a lot more testing by devs.
Other solutions? Remove boss jewel effects for oly? Who knows. What I do know is that the current state of the olympiad is biased towards level 83 and above. Time to grind.

83 and above should be strongest in oly though, as they are more advanced than a lvl 78... oly is best of the best, but every class should have a fair shot and chance to beat every other class

FS and WS.
I'm only here because the eye-popping title. OP owes my employer a new monitor.
imo this is a cry thread for each person to cry about their specific main class in oly
meanwhile those of us who lose to that class can cry back
for all classes, there are some other classes you can beat and some you can't. ofc some are way gimper than others, and there are a few classes played with top gear and full epics that farm the crap out of all the rest.
imo excluding the full epic farmers, I don't think either nuker or melee is particularly at advantage over the other; many matches can go either way for lots of different match ups. If you are losing, play smarter and develop a strategy.
Of the defensive buffs available, I'd say resist shock is one of the few defensive buffs that should be added to the olympiad buffer.
HELL NO! there is several stun resist armor sets, if you need stun resist, use them. my only offensive skills as a dwarf are stuns, i DONT want them useless in olympiad.
btw, dont complain about beeing stunned by full epic chars if you have no epics.
There are several resist stun epics, if you need stun resist, use them. Let's all ebay to balance out the Olympiad (/sarcasm off).
You fail to realize that not everyone has the same base stun resistance, and LOW CON classes benefit less from stun resist than High Con Classes.
Let's say, for example, a Nuker has 50 Base Stun Resistance, and a Dwarf has 100 Base Stun Resistance. It's sort of like that, due to the insane CON difference between the two archetypes.
With a 50% Stun Resist Set (let's say, Arcana or Majestic), the Nuker will have 75 Stun Resist and the Dwarf 150. The Dwarf benefited twice as much from the Stun Resist Set compared to the nuker, despite the fact that he actually needs the Stun Resist much less than the nuker does.
I have a feeling some people still think it's a 50% chance to resist stun :P It's not, it's 50% more stun resist calculated from your Base Stun Resistance.
That's how I got chain stunned by a Dwarf in Olympiad when I was wearing Majestic Robes.
The **** about Stun Resist sets makes no sense, knowing that - especially when gear imbalances (epics, augments), skill OE, and buffs (Spike) are factored in.
Olympiad is about levels, Skill OE, and end-game gear. If you don't have all of them, you better be an easy-mode Olympiad class like Dagger (who can get easy kills on soft classes), Warlock or Elemental Summoner - you're gonna have a rough time, otherwise.
There are several resist stun epics, if you need stun resist, use them. Let's all ebay to balance out the Olympiad (/sarcasm off).
people in decent clans don't need to ebay to get epics. you do realize the vast majority of people with epics in the game got them for free right? Probably over 95% of owned epics were given out to people from raids.
only the strongest deserve to be hero, and you'll only be strong if you're in a strong clan. No amount of ebay can make you beat people that are in a strong good clan in oly.
although, antharas and zaken and really pretty useless for sorc/sps class based. s80 jewels are better for that. Anth/zaken only good for open and sorcs shouldn't be going into open...
and dorf stun is waaay OP.... >.> I get stunned by it every time with full epics.
and dorf stun is waaay OP.... >.> I get stunned by it every time with full epics.
what +stun because mine sure as hell doesn't land too much and why not tank stun is overpowered?
What huge advantage to melee clases you're talking about? Onlu tyrants/TH's may start fight in melee range. Every other melee class starts 300 range from target.(ofc if oponnent is smart)
oly was always a joke, only specific classes can win open and those characters are usually made exactly for this purpose.
also there is the class oly which is balanced by definition so go try that.
No they're not made for olympiad purpose. It's just that skills makes them OP in oly. For example summoners wouldn't be that OP if they couldn't heal them selfs, and they shoulnd't be able to heal in the first place.

Clearly you have very little exposure, or are just playing dumb.
Clans have been powerleveling power classes for olympiad purposes since C5 or so.
It happens all the time.
If NCSoft every introduces a new race/class again, you will see how fast the upper-tier clans will level one up to secure that hero spot.
The Sub to Main event didn't help Olympiad, either.
Olympiad will never be balanced, anyways, so it's really not worth the discussion (not that I won't support and even participate in the dicsussion :P ).
Most of the problems in Olympiad actually have nothing to do with how, when, and where the doors open or close. NCSoft is just going haywire with the class balance. There is too much burst DPS in this game to really have fights where skill matters more than Luck, Gear, or Levels. It's just something we will all have to deal with - at least for this update's duration...
Clearly you don't know new oly rules that max 10 points you can loose or win. It become by far harder to farm oly and feed your clanies w/ enought points. Now farmers have to camp oly all the time if they want to be hero but because of a lot of noblesse parcipating it would be hard to secure hero spots by feeding.
You're a TK complaining about Summoners healing themselves with level 2x Battle Heal... Let's see...
Elemental Heal (or whatever the Elf Version is called)
Touch of Life
Life Cubic
Icy Air
Smart Cubic (I dunno if you're that high, yet)
Ultimate Defense
Vengeance
Party UD
Elf Fighter Run Speed
Heavy Armor
Rediculous Shield Block Rate
At least some type of stun/interrupt
Aggression/Hate
Probably has 300 Wins and 15 losses to Summoners and other power classes (purposeful overexaggeration, btw - you get my point).
You are the last thing that should be complaining about losing in Olympiad. TKs are already gamebreakingly overpowered in Olympiad. They are WAY above the level of Prophets in C5/Interlude.
Why are you crying about not being about to feed hero out to people who either a) can't compete or b) can't win hero on their own. Feeding was bad. I think you're probably the only person who has the audacity to mention it in a tone that infers that it was some sort of deplorable nerf... The only reason why everyone fed (despite knowing it's a ****tastic thing to do), is because if they didn't, they would never win any heroes - everyone else was feeding to try to win, too.
Please, just stop.
And I've done many matches since the new Olympiad was implemented. All of the changes are... very good.

Giving Shield to an ET, Pal, ST, HK, Titan, GK, EM, SM, or AL offers a significantly higher amount of defense than giving shield to a spellhowler for example.
Shield gives a 15% pdef increase which is just a 13% decrease in physical damage taken, and that's no matter what class you are. If the shield gave 100 pdef no matter what then the nuker would get an advantage, because his damage reduction would increase more than the tank.
if we really want to QQ, let's start here: although there is no pdef buff in oly, there is no mdef buff either, but there IS empower buff that increase matk by 75%, oh and zerk buff as well for some moar matk... and might only increase patk by 15%, not like that matters...
magic damage is calculated with the square root of your matk, which means a 75% increase in matk is only a sqrt(1.75) = 1.32 = 32% increase in damage
might and shield are both 15% increases. if you get each on 2 targets they cancel eachother out.
Magic barrier and empower are both ~30% increases. they also cancel eachother out.

That is why I said the imbalance in Olympiad has nothing to do with the gates.
If the classes aren't balanced, they aren't balanced.
It's too easy for most DD classes to get to most low-P.Def classes and rip them apart anyways. Nukers aren't the only classes that wear robes in Olympiad, and even their burst DPS is too high these days...
I think Enlightenment was added because of Olympiad, but it's a pretty fail way of balancing the game, IMO.
