I am talking about all types of PVP. I guess people dont know how to play Overlords. I cant wait till I get mine high level.
So, basically, you're just a forum troll?
You come here to ask questions, and then say people don't know how to play their class?
OLs are not PvP masters. If you think you will be owning much outside of Prophets in PvP on an OL, then good luck. Well, even they can win if they know how to play well, TBH...
Even an SE shouldn't have too many problems beating an OL in PvP, with balanced conditions (Gear, Levels, etc.).
Most classes can beat an OL in Open PvP without much trouble.
In Olympiad, OLs are stronger, but they are not the Open [outside of Olympiad] PvP powerhouses you claim them to be. Also, it has nothing to do with how well these people play their class.
Considering you are a D Grade non-factor Orc Mystic, I'd bet they are more right than you are.

agree

agree, that's where OLs are great in PvP, even if a PP is hard to beat in Oly too, but maybe with this new combo buff thing will getting better.

A good OL player need to think about a strategy before facing an oppenent, since different opponents mean different fight approches. The huge skills variety of the OL can give you chances to beat every class, but this same variety makes this char so hard to handle.

Just because you suck at playing an Overlord thats your problem. If you clicked this thread and thought that it was a troll post then why even reply? Everybody was actually leaving good replys but here comes the local fool who thinks he knows everything.I ahve been playing this game for many years and have played nearly every class in this game except Overlord and Warlord. I have seen what an Overlord can do if its played by a person with skill. Read the last part of the above post because that person has probaly seen it also.
Now to everybody else that replied I want to thank you all. I am going to show people the power of the Overlord!!!!

I think all Trens was remarking on is that from this reply it seems you have already come to a conclusion. Therefore, the point of your original post was a bit pointless. I don't think they were hating.
Yes, croathe. Obviously he doesn't know how to read.
It's quite rude to ask a question, and then insinuate "we" don't know how to play our characters.
Rather trollish, if you will.
As far as the last part of the post, that the other person has already seen... YES, they have seen it. The difference between you and them, however, is that they know [by now] that the class doesn't pwn in the way you seem to believe. Continue being a victim of irrational exuberence.
This is a support class, and that's actually where they pwn, just like War Cryers.
And again everything you are saying is based on your opinion. I have said time and time again that what I am talking about is something that I have seen with my own eyes. Just because you have not seen an Overlord do good at PVP dont come into my thread telling me that I dont know what I am talking about. Yea, its a support class like a Warcryer if you play it that way. I seen a Warcryer make a Gladiator BSOE in Varka the other day. Again, if you think this is just a troll post then why are you here? Why are you the only person that thinks its just a troll thread when everybody else does not? Just move along, nobody is making you post here.
As for me knowing how to read I can read well. Its not what you said but how you said it. I dont like people that talk the way you do. If you going to talk to me then you will address me with respect and I will do the same to you.

1. You asked a Question. You asked if they were good in PvP. I answered.
2. You don't own this thread. Deal with it, or get out of it yourself. Cool?
3. WC will only make a Gladiator BSOE in Varka if the Gladiator has tons of MOBs on him, the WC outlevels him by like 10 levels, or the Gladiator was geared/stocked for PvE and didn't bring anything like Pots, etc. A Gladiator can **** a War Cryer. What you seen is not normal. Some people BSOE from wartags just cause, it doesn't necessarily mean they will lose the fight.
4. No, you have no clue what you're talking about, if you will sit in this forum, trolling, answering you own questions after responses, and then attempting to insult posters in the thread. This isn't about me, it's about pretty much everyone who posted in this thread. You DID say that you've come to the conclusion that we didn't know how to play our characters, remember?
5. No one is asking you to post either. Remember, you don't own the thread.

I talk like this to everyone. Not everyone has the same disposition, and not everyone wants to log onto the internet and equip their second personality. Like it or skip my posts and don't respond.
I owe no respect to you, especially considering your OWN posting style, and the direction you have pushed this thread in...
Recap:
I am starting an OL alt because I remember they use to be almost unbeatable at PVP. Are they still good?
They are good, but certainly not that good...
I am talking about all types of PVP. I guess people dont know how to play Overlords. I cant wait till I get mine high level.

...
Trolling is posting inflamatory messages with the intent of ******* people off, ridiculing them, or exciting them to post back angrily.
That was definitely a troll post. I am just trying to help you. After all, you DID ask the question in the OP, right? You will find out, in about 59 levels, just how pwn an OL is in PvP (and especially 1v1 - LMAO, can't wait for those Fraps to get released!). You will definitely pwn on your OL's Archer, Dagger, or Nuker sub, though!
Not sure why you're getting so ryled by his inflamatory posts... He's obviously just toying with you now. He started a thread by asking a question to then tell everyone that they're given answers are all incorrect... He's just looking to argue with someone.
i myself play an overlord.
and i tell you, even with the soulguard/soulcry mp vamp combo...
that if you face a serious damage dealer within 5 levels you will face trouble.
especially if they are pvp prepared, with pots...n junk.
i mean sure, OL have some of the strongest magic in the game, but it's not nearly fast enough and the aoe has a slightly reduced chance of landing.
Equipment makes a difference, for faster casting, you need a mage build.
for more melee damage robes aren't the best option...
also the once powerful steal essence costs a lot of mp, drains you out in 10-15 shots. also not the fastest nuker in the game.
if you want to increase your damage output, try bringing a party, or at least a great wolf with you. see how much stronger you become then.
just be prepared to buy a whole lot of equipment, i hope you have access to billions of adena if you want to own the pvp realm in all forms of it.
OL can stand their own, but they get owned more times than not. Even with the soul guard on, soul cry and going at it. Some of the reflect damage stuff now kills the drain. Our debuffs suck and I agree, chain stun is about all you can hope for. The new blunt skill doesn't seem that powerful, at least when I play around with it on my clannies.
If they are one or two levels above you, especially in the upper 70's, well, you had better be a really good thinker, cause the other toons have some awsome stuff now.
OL is not a toon I would have picked to be an awsome pvp'r at all.
I started this silly game in prelude, and started my OL in c1.
Back then we WERE pretty darn imba in pvp on the field, healing everyone over time with countless hours on the wishing potion 30-40 times praying for an amulet, seal of flame/binding/silence/suspension/poisoning choke points on the siege field, draining people out that targeted my level 58 orc monster while under recharge spam from our elders, ah the days. When level 58 was the absolute cap in skills, we were beasts and seemed to have an answer for just about anything other than mental shield =) The primary skill we had was our mp-cheap drains that kept up with nukes from real mages as long as we had the same buffs they did. Sure, they did more damage than we did, but we healed 80% of what we took and had a grip more hitpoints (and cps didn't exist). Barring an untimely cancel and focus fire I did my share out there.
Fast forward 4 years. Drains at 74 went from 118 to 144 to 177mp. Elemental stones. AOEs didn't scale. Blockade nerfed to the biggest sp purge it is now.
PVP now is you and your elder (take your pick, elven, shillen) finding a vantage point in the middle of your castle /siege force with them on recharge spam on you, and your cp heal /heart keys held down with the other seven overlord rerolls/buffboxes your clan has and timing your flames to get through chokepoint bubbles/critical moments. Limit, despair, disease, and a *highly* overenchanted suspension will still do some damage if you can get through to use them (flames). Realistically that's a significant mistake these days though under many circumstances as if you can avoid getting targetted your clan will be a lot stronger. (OK, OK Limit can be battle changing in smaller scale pvp hehe, wtb level 83). We are clan buffers and healers, and quite frankly unless it's small scale pvp you won't do much out there other than hold your heals down and pray your elders keep you up on mp. Get mana gain buff. Get subclass recharge skill from a nuker sub. Heal your clan. Make them invulnerable for 30 seconds to get them where they need to go. If you have to, divebomb when almost out of mp to make or break a choke point/throne room with seals. Kill people? Not unless they are A grade or you get a serious jump on them.
1 vs 1. same level, you have about a 15 to 20 % chance with really really really good kit UNLESS you are 83 + or you get serious jump on your opponent. Onslaught/limit combo is great (test server :P) but it's a long road getting there. Till then, prepare to be out cp potted trying to drain people to death, even ******edbuffed with songs and dances. I was 2 hit this weekend by a stormscreamer who wasn't even level 80. It would take me about 12 drains to finish him. We don't scale anywhere close to the other classes in terms of skill damage output anymore. We can try our bows and daggers, but just GETTING IN RANGE will have us dead about 80% of the time.
Olympiad we still have some teeth with the right kit, but that's not real pvp. It never has been. Drac bows with 150-300 element work on dark crystal but all it takes is 1 elemental resist in element x and our elements on our weapons are useless. Again, no skills enchantable for element. Nuke aug a mage weapon or two with the corresponding element or prepare for a long night face down at the olympiad.
That said, behind a wall of our clanmates we are still viable. To reiterate, We can prey on the weak, but anyone up to snuff (especially 80+) don't expect to be "dominating" anyone until 83+ unless you get the jump. Even then, you won't get a quarter of the killcount that your average 2 month old 79 mystic muse/stormscreamer can get out of the box. WTB Steal Essence Slug lol
