I am brand new, the patches are updating as I type! I was wondering if anyone has any advice for a first time player?
Best class/race for newb?
Server suggestions?
Professions?

Fighter Class id suggest is Orc Fighter => Destroyer or Dark Elf Fighter => BD
BD will be wanted in most partys so getting partys later on in game will be easier, and destroyer is just a capable fighter who can rip through most mobs easy imo
Mystic Human Mystic=> Human Wizard=>Warlock or Dark Elf Mystic => DE Wizard=> Phantom Summoner; Summoner is good and easy but expensive in the long run not a great class for first timers due to the additional costs you get; One bonus is you dont really need a great weapon after B grade, your summon will do most of the work for you so all you need is a basic homunk with acumen and your good to go; And ive known some summoners who wear blue wolf (b grade light armor) all the way into their a grade.
Servers:
North American id say Phoenix or possibly devianne ( but im bias ;) )
European id say Teon
There are no real proffessions if what your talking is like Tailoring, Jewelcrafting in lineage it is all done by one race Dwarf Warsmiths. most every person in lineage will have one dwarf warsmith to do all their crafting and save adena.
Yah, NoThoughts, you should say something about what you would like to do, and if you have played other games, what kind of character you played. If you like to be a ranged damage dealer, or magic, or melee.... of if you prefer to be support character, like a healer or buffer.

I knew I missed something! I like dps and healing combos! Prefferably melee.
I like playing with others but in those times where groups are hard to find i want to be self reliant.
just read the DPS + heal combo so yea Summoner would be good for you just watch your costs or you wont have the adena for A grade stuff. Secondary option could be a paladin with their heal abilities but they are not anything like any other games paladins for healing just so you know. :)

I would tell you to look at the orc melees (destroyer/tyrant).
They are never unwelcome as DD's and they can solo for a long time. If you get hooked, you'll be playing this game for a LONG time :)
Otherwise, BladeDancer is dark elf generally welcome in parties. Not DPS like the orcs but able to solo awhile.
Summoner is not easy unless you have a lot of experience. I'm not saying it's nuclear physics but it is 'busier' than most of the other classes. Great choice for you perhaps but you'll have to figure out some way to pay for it as the levels progress. Hunting, questing, and raids won't provide enough adena as you go (this is true of all classes--not specific to summoners).
Something else to consider-the dagger classes are generally cheaper to level and you'll appreciate them later on. Give them a quick look, too, perhaps?
personally for a first time toon I would go with elven sword singer or dark elf blade dancer. they are fun to play and you can have your pet out and feel you are actually providing something to the group if you choose to party.
It is ok to get the hang of once you start learning songs/ dances provided you remember to activate skill every 2 min. I also never feel too bothered when I'm hit by something unlike the mild frustration caused when being hit when I play my mystic classes.
The problem with summoners, although they are lots of fun and have a wide range of abilities, they aren't really brought into groups ... unless the group wants one of the buffs... which means, no melee for them.
The Elemental summoner (light elf) is a lot of fun, and their one unicorn does hella damage. The buffs they get eventually are focused toward magic damage dealers and healers.
If you choose a summoner, you will spend a majority of your time basically alone.
NA: Phoenix's prolly your best option.
EU: every1 here says Teon, but i don't have a char there.
Class: each have a different play style, it's something you gotta work out for yourself. Summoners are fun, especially Phantom Summoner (dark elf), it's a pain in the butt to lvling without proper gear before lvl 56.
if you're into partying with other ppl, i suggest a support class. Bish/EE or BD/Sws. lvl might be mildly boring solo, because your place is in a party.

i'd like to suggest you to play one of Three viable melee /healer types:
1. Warcrier; this class has an extensive buff list that extends party-wide. every party loves a Warcrier. given they are Orc Mystics, they are extensively Melee Capable and do significant damage. the warcrier's buffs mostly concentrate on party-only melee-based buffs, with only two caster-friendly buffs... youll be wanting to use really any weapon, but a Blunt will be your best Damage capable weapon. Warcriers dont have too much in the way of area debuffs or debuffs in general, but they can drain HP very quickly.
2. Overlord; similar to the warcrier, except the Overlord has a distinct separate buff list that extends NOT ONLY party wide, but also CLAN wide. Overlord's heal skill can heal CP, and HP CLAN wide. awesome siege support, youll be spamming heals just as fast as you can. again, best thing for you is a blunt weapon. Overlords can cast area-of-effect type skills to make things weaker (slowing enemies, bleeding, poisoning, making skills take longer to use, removing HP regeneration... etc)
3. SoulBreaker; while not a true DD, nor a true buffer, nor a true healer, there are many things that you would love about the soulbreaker, or even its corollary, the Berzerker. however, i recommend the Soulbreaker as a party-booster. you boost the DPS of the party both by making monsters and enemy players WEAKER, and also by contributing to the kills. Soulbreaker are a TOUGH class to pvp too, very tricky to beat, even harder to play properly. not for the faint of heart; youll have an extensive skill list.
to be perfectly honest i would recommend you to play an Overlord. this is an Orc Mystic, becomes an orc Shaman, then becomes Overlord, and final class change is Dominator.
Phoenix or Teon for your server if Phoenix take a look at the clans who are recruiting .I'm in EAC and we are new player friendly if ya have any questions just ask. I'd go WC over OL unless you find a great clan like mine who loves OL's.
Most players use Dual Swords on thier Orc mages for lvling so that or a blunt becuase you get 2 stun skills are most used weapons on them. I like being different so i use fists and daggers on my OL , dagger gets best crit rate and fists are good accuracy.
