For sure not the end of L2 LOLOLOL. L1 is still around and has still players and updates so why l2 shouldnt? Many other updates will come. The next one is already gracia plus.
Aion, as with all new games will get alot of interest at start...
i will be buying 1 account, see whats it all about, tho i fear its heading towards "wow" which i dont like the ease in which u can reach ur goals..just my opion :)

L2 is going strong. I'm having as much fun in game as I did five years ago, if not more. The population on my server is strong and plenty is going on.
I think that in 15 years L2 will be one of the standards by which new games are measured. There are very few other games which remain this healthy over fives years after they are released.
Sure, there are negative whiners who say 'l2 is dying' but I remember others saying exactly the same thing in 2004, and in 2005, and in 2006, and in 2007, and in 2008...you get the picture.
Its because of Euros that this game is still kicking and running, however is far from been strong.
While there is still people in Korea supporting this game, it will not die, however if they stop playing it and go for the next thing... aka Aion, yeah it will die, since there is no point to continue developing more addons when the player base isnt enough to cover fees and payroll.

The way to save the game is to change the core values a bit. Before having a character was suppose to be a lifetime work, which is ridiculous. Its like the L2 devs didn't take a persons life into consideration. The goal should be for everyone to have the possibility to reach lvl 80 without throwing their life away or spending 2+ years doing it. It should also be possible to have multiple level 80 characters if you put in the extra effort to do it. Little things like that would increase the population.
The population has always decreased because Ncsoft has been very stubborn to change gameplay mechanics such as the grind. If they had listened to the community from day one then it would of been much more popular than it is now.

So, even though though you and I see the population always declining, that's just in the NA market, which includes Europe. The game will not die in Korea. In the NA market, it's harder to say. I'm inclined to say no, it won't die, because I think NC wants to keep a foothold in this market. But, there might be more server mergers as the years go by.

the thing is that we dont speak about korea but about the us/eu lineage.... in korea i bet the servers are at full capacity...cause they play a different game there..... they have suport they have real events they have gms... i even bet botting is very limited
they even have a site that updates!! we have nothing of that...so yes l2 is dying...and it will be faster that u think..
kiranye and i had the highest level wolves from c1 until like interlude when everyone started to screw with them.
kiranye's was 61 and mine was 59 about half-way through c3.

or maybe i'm leveling at a normal rate for someone who has more going than just l2? also, leveling wasn't really a top priority...playing the market, farming random things, fishing. i try to enjoy everything the game has to offer. right now my current obsession is farming star stones in gracia...no xp in that, unlike aion's collection system.
If worse comes to worse and players leave in enough numbers I guess they will consolididate server populations like they did whenh they created Phoinex.
I fully expect that Lineage could lose at least 10% of current population to AION. I will probably be among those who leave.
If I don't like AION certainly I would come back to Lineage II, but I won't devote the time to two subscriptions. Its going to be one, or the other.

you actually level faster by doing the quests than by grinding. money's not too much of a problem. classes are actually pretty balanced in the end. i was playing a chanter which is like a sws, se, and wc all in one only with attack skills. rangers are more debuffers than dd's. mages are insanely powerful but later on if you get hit two or three times and you're not expecting it, you're on the floor. i'll definitely be playing a chanter main, even though they're really slow to level since they do hardly any damage at all in the beginning 20 levels or so. if an aion cleric were in l2, you'd only need one healer total to kill epic bosses.
they're lying about the flying, though. can only fly in like 1 of every 20 zones and only for 60 seconds until a certain level...120 seconds at max level. pretty dumb.
zones are pretty small and all surrounded by cliffs and steep hills. i've also fallen through the floor in sanctum and died. twice.

i dont think its strange, im playing since prelude and im 79 too. I dont know anyone who is higher and legit. 79 to 80 would take me 500h or more.
Playing since prelude means nothing .. you can easy level to 75 in a few month .. that would have taken years in prelude/c1/c2.

Have you played the block checker game hehe its a fun time passer ^^ shame you only get like 12 fantasy island tokens from that so to get a graduation cap like i want it will take 438 entries ...

How is it you were able to be playing AION over the weekend? I was under the impression it was not officially being released until September for NA.
I was also very curious about what I read having to do with Crafting in Aion. I had read that it is far more involved and intricate in Aion than in Lineage as in if your into crafting in Lineage your gonna love it in AION.

the first open beta was this past weekend.
aion is set up almost exactly the same way as wow except for the skills. crafting is no different.
Lineage 2 is dying and Aion will deliver the final blow. Sorry people but all things must someday come to an end. I know its hard to accept it as its hard for me too, but the sooner you start the quicker you will get over it.

Again, you may be right. But we've heard for 3-4 years that "the NEXT big game release will finally kill L2".....it hasn't happened yet.
It might. Then again, I'll believe it when it happens. My guess is that if Aion is either very fast to level or wide open to botting and other haxx, then L2 will lose a lot of players. Will it lose all of them? No.
Would a significant loss of players cause more L2 mergers? One would have to expect that as a consequence, yes.
having played aion all weekend, i don't really understand why people bot. to be honest, it's faster to level via quests instead of grinding. most quests aren't like l2 where it's 'kill 2500 of these things and get a random recipe' but more of 'kill 9 of this and 5 of this and come back to me.'
i barely log in these days nothing there flashes me anymore seeing all blahwarriors in s80 now instead of s grade +6
bot politic works fine for nc soft so why should they change it

here's more pure rumor...nc actually ran two of the biggest adena selling websites in the early days of l2. the websites were a subsidiary of a company that nc claimed to own on their corporate website.
that means that spam did the best he could while nc endorsed the cheating.
as stated when they did the story preview way back at the beginning of c1, there's supposed to be 13 chronicles with the last one dealing with the dark elves and orcs trying to release shilen from the seal and the elves, humans, and random dwarves trying to stop them.

guild wars and blade and soul are two completely different games than l2 drawing a different audience.
personally, i've grown tired of the endless grind in l2, only to be beaten by an 84 with his own 24/7 HB bot group with ebayed boss jewels a week before i was to take hero...i'll be leaving for blade and soul since they've got little fox doods.

Now when I go shouting WTS or WTB something it takes forever to get a response from somebody. Thats that main thing that makes me think this game is dying.

they should just do server mergers now.... I'd like to see what happens to the politics in this game.
everyone has all their gear already so no one buys and sells except for drops and people who think they can still make money crafting.
as far as mergers, see my other posts for my vote on making one NA server and one confirmed cheater server with high rates.

LOL then guild wars will? LOL??? dude this game is 5 years old and still, i would say kicking *** with GREAT and huge updates and changes. New players come and some old players come back. Its normal that in 5 years players leave and go play or try other games. But that happen on other games also. Do you think WoW players only played wow in their mmorpg history? Many players left other games for play L2 or other mmorpgs. So Dont say l2 is going to die or get killed by other games. And hey, L3? maybe in 2020! :p
Also Aion is already in the beta testing and flooded with gold sellers so we will have just again a nother game full of problems like L2.
No matter what the fan-kids will say the game is obviously dying. I play for 1 1/2 years and my friends list is at 70% dead. What the devs really care is to preserve as long as possible the existed 80+ lvl players keeping them busy with mass PVP and enticing them to re-bot daggers...
Dying for you...what server you play on? Only because you dont have fun or some problems doesnt mean the game dies. I have a lot of friends daily online...dude..the game is 5 years old what do you expect? O.o
Please remember that L1 is still rolling. Guild wars is running out of players and wow isnt more that player magnet like it were before...its life...
drac, you and i get along quite well i'd say...but life is different on teon and pheonix than it is on all of the other servers, unfortunately.
i was farming star stones in gracia for 4 hours the other night and i never saw another person the entire time and the seeds were only used twice the whole time i was there.
giran is pretty sad, too...i'd imagine our giran is as populated as your dion but that's just a guess. there's hardly any shouting at all and most of the stuff being sold is just from farmers or the normal clan sell shops.
Who plays on a "dead" server, just come all to teon and we will have plenty of fun! :D
I, personally don't define many ppl online as 'fine' :) I think it's not fine and not even close. I mean it's better here at Devianne, where sieges are held for 30-40 ppl and I can always find a good spot to exp... at least I don't have to e-bay all the time and can earn adena myself unlike at big servers...where it's impossible to grow quickly as a dwarf unless you have, oh..don't get me started....

teon would be more ping for most of us and most americans wouldn't know how to handle people speaking french, german, etc. that would be on a euro server...we're lazy mono-linguals.
also, i can hardly afford the normal monthly subscription let alone the xfer fee.
