Russians Killing each other IRL over Lineage II Clan Grudges?

Russian Man Killed Over Lineage II Clan Grudge

Lineage II turned deadly in Russia late last year, where two members of warring clans meeting face-to-face in the city of Ufa resulted in violence and death. A 33 year-old member of the Platanium clan named Albert agreed to me a 22 year-old from the rival Coo-clocks Clan (*sigh*) in persona following a nasty PVP session that left the former dead. During the meeting Albert was brutally beaten, later dying from his injuries on the way to the hospital. Upon his arrest, the young man expressed no remorse - simply explaining calmly why Albert had to die. The alleged killer has now been charged with murder.

What’s worse is this isn’t the first Lineage II-related death in Russia. Back in January one player stomped another to death while he was trying to break up a fight sparked during a real life meet-up.

What’s even more crazy is that members of the Coo-clocks continue to harass the dead man’s family, going as far as to threaten the life of his sister. That’s some pretty insane clan loyalty right there if you ask me. One isolated crazy I can understand, but once a member of your clan beats a man to death…that’s generally when you want to back off on the team spirit. Hit up the link below for the full story. More fuel for the fire.

Online game rivalry ends with real life murder
permalinke-mail story to a friendprint version17 January, 2008, 06:54

A young Russian man has been charged with murder after an internet game jumped off the screen onto the street. It's alleged he killed an internet gaming rival after they met face to face in the city of Ufa.

Yahoo StumbleUpon Google Live Technorati Scoop del.icio.us Digg Sphinn Furl Reddit Violence on screen isn't harmful to anyone. But when virtual reality and real life collide an innocent game can end in tragedy.

It all started when two clans – the Coo-clocks, made up of mostly students, and the so-called Platanium with more experienced gamers of over thirty – started fighting to wipe out each other on screen.

33-year-old Albert used to spend hours in front of his computer. On the web he had his own clan and a dozen of warriors. Just days before the New Year in a virtual battle his clan killed a member of the hostile Coo-clocks.

Days later the enemies agreed to meet literally face to face in the real world.

Their confrontation led to tragedy. Albert was badly beaten and died from his injuries on the way to hospital.

“I think they have confused the game and reality. And after we buried him on December 31, they continued to threaten us,” Albert’s sister Albina says.

The alleged murderer hasn't shown regret and hasn't justified himself. 22-year-old student just calmly explained why he killed his opponent.

On the web each of the clans had its own hierarchy and rules

“Beat everything that moves, and everything that doesn’t move – move and beat!” – this is one of the rules of the Coo-clocks clan.

In this case the rule applied to real people in real life. Members of the internet Coo-clocks clan continue to harass the family of the murdered man, threatening to kill his sister, who hasn’t turned on the computer for days.

In an unrelated case another gamer in his twenties came to Moscow from Ukraine to meet his rival. The confrontation ended in with the Moscow man being beaten to death.

And a twenty-year-old from Petrosavodsk killed his grandmother after she interrupted his game calling him to eat.

It was obviously not new to the OP, and the search function on this board blows more wind than a Storm Howler. So I'm not surprised when I see one of these.

did people forget to mention this is a Private server affair?
did people forget to mention this is a Private server affair?

..once again, lolrussian
LOL like this is something new?
besides which, from what I understand, don't the Koreans have the market cornered on killing each other over L2? that and just dropping dead while playing as the player hadn't eaten or slept in like 3 months or something (j/k)
Alright. To the people who dissed me for posting this.

First off it was NEW NEWS to me.

Second off I was googling links to find out the costs in Knight Eppalettes (sp) to see what the costs were for shirts and just chanced upon the link to this news while doing so.

I am sure that to some people this is new news and I posted it because I would have appreciated someone having posted it for me.

I don't consider this an indication that Russians are more prone to such insane behavior. Such behavior goes on world wide everywhere for even more stupid reasons than over a clan grudge in a computer game.

I happen to have some very cool Russian Friends and they would consider this just as sick a behavior as any other normal person.

I am sorry if anyone who is Russian felt I was suggesting otherwise.

I dont hate russians, nor do i hope for they to be exctinct. I just said that i havent met a single one of them that actually had something "upstairs", so its not racism but an opinion

what server did he play on ? what was his character ?

Are you seriously asking this or do you just have selective reading skills? (just like a man... only hears/reads what they want to.)

This was already answered several posts before you even asked who DVP was.

actually the 2nd one which is the oldest one, was DVP from franz or teon server
Is dvp really up for release? 2-3 years only for murdering someone? Did they go back to court and rule out muder and call it self defense now? haha crazy world.
still dont know what his level / class was...

That's never been a murder and doesn't have to be discussed here, particularily with your very easy cynical comments. Wipe the crap at your door and don't talk about what you don't know like you're an important wise figure who knows it all. Crawl back under your rock.

For Spudnik, DVP was an Adventurer on Teon (RedSky clan) who did interresting PvP videos (available on YouTube if you're curious), sometimes solo, often in trio during C4-C5 era if I remember correctly.
While with Interlude and CT1 people could say he couldn't do that anymore, now with CT2 he would be as powerful as before very soon. But maybe he doesn't want to come back.
Remember this guys;
CSKA vs Spartak

Fights just don't happen because of L2 but also because of the soccerteams in Moskow
