+16 D grade Armor?

Has this ever been done ?
+8 armor is almost impossible. I bet the MAX armor could possibly be present is +10 (I HARDLY doubt that myself).
got a set of brig gloves to +9 once....

cost me 18mil in process tho hehe
18 mil at what price of enchant / item?
anyone else with any experience with trying to get +10 d grade armor ?
Seems to me Jewelry and Armor are harder to enchant then weapons, no thx.
pointless. Armor breaks a lot, and there's nearly no benefit of going that high.
+16, WOW you'd never die anymore........oh wait.....D Grade......Is there anyone who actually dies at D grade?......even with common items
If armor Glowed, I'm sure you would see a lot more OE'd Armor! It's all about the Glow.
Armor is A LOT harder to enchant than weapons. When I tried to make a +6 brig set for my academy noobs, it took me about 10-15 tries for EACH piece to get it to +6. +4 is easy, +5 is not easy and +6 is **** hard to get. The success rate seems to drop a LOT for each + you go higher. So I seriously do not think there are any +16 armors out there, you'd probably need THOUSANDS of tries to get one armor piece to +16. Well, and then there is also no real point in doing it anyway - there is no glow, and the +6 bonus is what you want to get.
Well since the squash event, im sure there are thousands of armor enchant d's out there, it would be quite funny. I was just curious. Possibly +10 would be more obtainable.

I was thinking for more likely giving lower level chars chance to farm raid boss advantages.

It's a waste to OE armor to that point.

D Grade goes by so fast, really no point for High Sets unless your bored, and end up playing a LOT of D Grade characters at some point, IE. Seeding/Lowbie Raids.

C Grade, also another Range that goes fast, although, I think a +6 FP Set is arguably one of the best +6 Sets you can get. +6 FP Set is going to be better than a Doom or BW Set, so I used that on my Subclasses until A Grade.

B Grade, 12 Levels, and the cost to try to a +6 a set here, might as well save for A grade, because none of the B Grade sets are that good in comparison to getting into a A grade Set.

S, S80 and S84 is just very expensive to +6 a Set, so you won't see much of it around.
I can't think of a good use for overly enchanted D-grade armors. They won't be particularly more competent to allow raid-boss farming by a single lowbie. The buffs that lowbie could get would be much more important than the armor you put on them.

D-grade simply doesn't last long enough and there is no real risk to your character even should you leave them in NG armors.

Back when there were a lot of D-grade toons and Dion Gatewars were an everyday occurrence, then perhaps for lowbie PvP it might have been funny.

Today, I can't imagine there would be a market since there is no real application.

Sort of like putting a string of pearls on a pig--doesn't help the pig and the pearls become useless too :)
The only use for OE'd D grade is if you are constantly playing with Lowbie Characters, and or do Newbie Raids. Other than that, it's pointless and moreso done out of boredom.
huge waste of money. and barely any performance increase.
Any advantage to a Chain set since it has that pdef against daggers that alot of folks crying about how daggers kill them so easily might benefit from it. Or is it really a waste and theres no way to get it enchanted high enough to give S grade type stats on a C grade armor. It's definately gonna take a ton of Adena to try and a army of Dwarfs to get all the mats to craft enough Chain Helms thanks to NCSOFT not putting those in the stores.

But is it possible to get S grade type stats by Over enchanting?

Uhhh...

Elemental Resist to an Enemy Weapon > Some silly -% Damage.

Like jyrki said, -5.24% damage is nothing

Getting S grade pdef is possible, but dumb, the set bonuses are bad.
C grade boots/gloves would need to be +7 to equal S grade
chain hood owuld need to be +14 to be like imp helm
top body need to be +30
bottom body need to be +20

on average you'd need a +17/18 ish set to get IC pdef, I think that there doesn't even exist enough EAC's on any of the servers to do that with the amount of times you'll break it.

I went with +1 pdef til +3 and +3pdef after that, I think that's what they add.

Also. I should mention that IC has +8% pdef, which is more than +5.24%

In short, no it's not worth it, possible or even effective
well... +6....+10 armor would give you HUGE HP boost... HUGE! IC set +6 gives smth. like what? - +600 hp? (600+400 = 1hp). It's NOT THAT bad... especially on a dagger\healer...

Lower grade armor gives much lower amounts of HP per enchant. It doesn't really matter though, it's still unacheivable for a player

I know.. was mostly talking about "S" grade sets... I've seen +7...+8 parts...

You're better off just getting a FP set instead, that alone gives you more pdef against daggers and more, compared to the Chain set's dagger pdef bonus.
Highest S grade ive seen is +6

Highest A grade ive seen is +8 Majestic Light

C Grade Highest ive gotten/seen is +7 Eldrake Shield

D Grade Highest ive gotten/seen is +8 D Grade Shirt
i've seen +9/12/13/16

it's neither impossible or unlikely.... considering the wide variety of +16 weapons of all grades out there..

i know seeing a +16 Brig helmet has i think 83Pdef on it..... And i know that it tends to upset a select few players for whatever reason that their A grade is worse then that +16 d grade brig lol
i dont know about anyone else, but armor enchant d's are like 10k heh, plus if you did squash event you would have a ton. I was just thinking of doing it fooling around, just out of boredom. Havent done it yet though.

I think the chance of getting armour to +8 is about the same chance as getting weapons to +16
I've seen a complete Zubie Heavy set being +10, but that was quite some time ago now (was a BD from RussianMafia when that clan still existed and was being led by Bat, forgot his name though. This was also pre +6-bonuses, so it's a very long time go).

Armor breaks much more often than weapons, plus making a set means enchanting 3-5 pieces. not just 1 as with weapons.

A grade is still better. all set bonuses in D grade are incredibly bad compared to A grade. If Pdef mattered that much people would use Nightmare/majestic over DC/tallum. but they don't.

Havent done it yet though.they might be 10k now. But if you actually tried to do it you would have to buy out the entire stock of all the bots, and they would not remain at 10k
hmm i never said i would wear +16 d grade armor over A grade armor, set bonuses are very important.

People just randomly blurt something out, and it wasnt me talking. If you bought them all out wouldnt that mean u control the market than? heh. duh. Supply demand.

But that wasnt my intention, I just wanted to hear people's +10 - 16 armor story's. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks just wondered for the heck of it.

You can't control the EAD market, out of all mysterious cubics used 1/3 of them gives EAD, You couldn't profit form that, you would have to keep buying 100's of them every day.

Actually you might be able to control it, but it would be impossible to profit from it.

A lot of people delete/throw away rough blues when they get them. People like me save them, I get them constantly anyway, deleting them every day is just annoying, my 800 RB pieces takes no weight and the same inv space as 1 would.
to make an item +6 you need at least 100 items if the kind.

Thats a pretty sweet set to have that high +++ due to its +pdef % bonus :)
for defense only tho.

No. About 20.
I take it you don't know how much lower the chance of succesfully oe'ing armour is than weapons?

I think the chance of getting armour to +8 is about the same chance as getting weapons to +16

Actually the fact of the matter is that People don't bother really super overchanting armor as much as they do weapons..

So the CHANCE . true CHANCE of successfully OE armor is identical to that of weapons.

I personally have had a good luck string of 9 sucessful enchants in a row on a D grade shirt. And to boot, that string would have continued but i decided to enchant another shirt to +6 before blowing up at +7
So the CHANCE . true CHANCE of successfully OE armor is identical to that of weapons.

No. For armors and jewels, the chance of success decreases for each further attempt. +3 to +4 is 66%, +4 to +5 is 33%, +5 to +6 is 25% which means 5% to get a +6 armor.
Weapons (melee) are always 66% up to +15, so you've 28% chance to get a +6 weapon.

The chance of Armor OE is not identical to weapons.

bold part proves you know nothing at all about what you just said.

Every single item at +4 or more is a string of successes right until they break.
After building a +6 Brigadine set, I gave up on armor OE'ing... it's just not worth it. At D Grade, it's fun, because it's cheap, but even C grade would be far, far too expensive. With that Brig set, some pieces required over 30 pieces in order for me to get them to +6... compare that to weapons. Last month, I managed to OE two top C grade weapons to +16... and all it took me was nine weapons total. Yes, the accomplishment was pure luck, but it's fairly obvious that armor is FAR more difficult to OE.

I have to say, it's really strange, too, given that A) OE'd armor doesn't glow (nor should it) and B) The benefits of OE'd armor really isn't that big of a deal, when compared to the cool benefits of weapons (namely, the glow).

Kudos to anyone who ever OE'd past +6 for armor... you have guts.
Kudos to anyone who ever OE'd past +6 for armor... you have guts. They should trade some of those guts for some brains imo.

C-Grade sets are 3 pieces only. Not too expensive to pass +6.

this is false..

obviously you don't know.

the enchant sucess on weapons and armor.. or any enchant (exluding skills) is 66%... so you have a 1 in 3 chance of failing an enchant..

that is the same % sucess going from +3 to +4 or going +15 to +16 .. or going +64999 to +65000

For both ARMOR and WEAPONS.. look it up, scroll back into the past... this has been the case.

You can buy 100 Dark screamers and fail as many times enchanting to +4 as you would with 100 D grade Shirts.... I've seen it.. i've done it...

It's all based on luck of the random number generators.

A string of successes in a row will always have lesser % successrate.... a +12 to +13 enchant on a weapon or armor is 66%

but

a +0 to +13 enchant on either is compounding.... 1.57% chance of success @ 66% success chance per incremental enchantment... 66% to +4 times 66% to +5 times 66% to +6 and so on and so forth....

The code says you're wrong.
please feel free to quote the code...

if i had a old enough screenshot... i could show you the older EW/EA scrolls that stated their success rate over +3 (which was 66%)

http://www.l2wh.com/tools/oes.php

what the description says doesn't matter. Never did.

You seem to understand how it works. the only problem is that you blindly believe the 66% rate form the loading screen tip

All items do not have the same breaking rate. If you have any evidence that says otherwise, do feel free to present it.

washtak is actually right.

And the login screen says craps too. Obviously you didn't get the memo.
Normal weapons : 66% until +15 then 33%
Mage weapons : 40% until +15 then 20%
Armors and jewels : first oe 66%, second 1/3, then 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, etc.
If armor had the same OE chance as weapons, we'd be seeing a many sets of armor on the market enchanted past +6. I've seen individual pieces OE'd past +6 (mainly shirts), but never a full set. I'm not sure anyone (aside from NCsoft) knows the real values of the chances, but it's obvious that weapons are far easier to OE than armor.

washtak, where is it said that the final OE to +16 has a severely decreased chance of success? That's the first I've heard of that. Where Mage weapons are concerned though, it's obvious to me that those are also much more difficult to OE. It took me 9 top C bows to hit 2x +16, and 10 more to hit +12 and 3x +8. Before I knew better, I tried my hand at OE'ing the top C grade Ghoul's Staff... 15 weapons later, I was left with a +5.

if i had a old enough screenshot... i could show you the older EW/EA scrolls that stated their success rate over +3 (which was 66%)

Remember how we were supposed to see a C letter drop two events ago? Or A - S enchant scrolls in the last event? Just because NCsoft says something doesn't mean it's true, and if anyone has the real answers, it's the Korean players. My Summon Dark Panther skill gives me the incorrect Crystal consumption information. It's a fact of life that even NCsoft doesn't always have their facts straight.
The +16 enchant isn't the final one, there's no limit except the size of the integer. It was reached on PTS once by an exploit BTW.
I said the final OE to +16, not the final OE :P

I was so tempted to go further when I hit +16, but I'm a wimp, and I like Adena.
this +8D shirt, how many did you crystalise?
I couldnt imagine the pressure of doing +15 - 16. I would be too worried too rofl,
using 3rd party sources to point out as if it were fact?

That's just stupid... reguardless of the number of enchants, 1000-100,000 getting a real figure will always be different.

just get a bloody coin.. and there will be a number of people that'll flip either the head.. or the tails FAR MORE then the opposite side.... does that mean that the coin is NOT a 50/50 Chance? NO

your facts are statistical..... they do not in fact state they are correct.. but mearly statistical.... highly exaggerated and can change quickly to boot.

Using any form of statics could state that going to +5 is a 33% chance and that going to +6 is a 48% chance.... but that's just numbers being thrown around, they are in no way truely fact or remotely accurate.
You're boring. You're unable to accept you're wrong. I could throw you l2server.exe code right in your face, you would still find an excuse. Get lost.

It is fact, that all happened. You don't seem to have a clue how statistics work
I couldnt imagine the pressure of doing +15 - 16. I would be too worried too rofl,

I'm not sure if how I reacted is typical of most people, but I turned into a total girl. The second I hit the "Start" button, I got up, walked out of the room, paced around for about five minutes, and then came back after I regained my composure, haha. Luck was on my side though, so it had a happy ending.
Practice > Theory
It is fact, that all happened. You don't seem to have a clue how statistics work

Fact, something happens, but this doesn't directly apply to the next person or to the very person that produce a factual statistic.

Using that "theory" one would never make it passed a specific point let alone +16 based on the statistics even for themselves, they would be a statistical impossibility. So the fact of the statistics being real isn't absurd, it's just absurd and rediculious to make the assumption that the chance is 100% let alone 66% guaranteed.

So you apparently don't have a clue how practical application of statistics work.

So presumably you have some statistics to back up your 66% claim right? Cause every other person I know in game thinks ease of enchanting goes general weapons > mage weapons > armor+accessories

The statistical impossibility is there : how many +16 mage weapons is there? How many +16 armor?

About the weapons with 66% chance, you seem to think going +16 just "happen", because you don't see or don't want to see how many weapon broke. The stats respect the rule.
How many people ever make it passed +12?

I've sat and watch alot of people enchant.. i done alot of enchanting..

my success rate unfortunately is far better with armor then with any weapon including the highly touted Dark Screamer dagger.

So whatever small pool of stats out there there are, it can never be accurate, it can only get closer and farther away from the fact of the matter that it's a hard coded percentage base random generated by a computer factor. Lets also not bother considering how many other things are hitting this random number generator at the same time.

It still remains theory and beleif. In no way a definite fact
I'm 0-50 or so trying to get armor to +6, been using up eads from rough blues and squash event with no luck. I just want a +6 set for my pet lvling and lowbie manor toons! Not that they need it, but I just wanna have a set with all the text lit up ><.

If the RNG is meant to have a 2/3 successrate but for some reason it only spits out 1/2 successes, then guess what, the successrate is NOT 66% but 50% because that is what happens, regardless of what is supposed to happen.

Few thousand attempts to enchant is enough to get a good estimate on rate when you're only dealing with percentages 10 points apart, if you're trying to find out if it was 50 or 50.1 then you would need many many more.

For example. I track all my mysterious cubics, I have over 2000 tries, I get about 35% for rough blue and about 0.5% for both Whites. the 2000 tries is enough to see that rough blue's are very near 35% but not enough to say that whites are near 1/200 because I still have only gotten ~10 of each

It might be theory and belief, but it is a belief based statistical data, What you present is belief and nothing more. Show some data to back up your claim.
Data > no data
+6 plated leather + elemented IC helm and gloves = greatest archer set ever.... well... till you get hit...
I got a Dragon Slayer, last night to +9 over a 2 day period. I got it at +5. Did 2 back to back enchants. on one afternoon.

+7 It stayed for 24 hours.
Than i went for +8 in the following afternoon.
Than in the night I went for +9 in the night.

The weapon is also augmented so far, I have had the best luck with that.

I have only ever been successful one time going to +10 on a d grade ELS, so theres no way in hell im risking it with an A grade weapon.

You dont see that many high enchanted Dragon Slayer's. They do exist in few quanities though. Sometimes the market just doesnt have many weapons out on it.

Has anyone here ever blown an augmented weapon?

Yes-3 top C-grade's in a row. Two dark screamers and an emi bow (and remember saying to myself, "there's NO WAY the bow will blow going to +4, too....."). *Poof*
All augmented. All going from +3 to +4. Same toon. All in less than 10 minutes.
It's completely random.
well i got the dragon slayer to +10 lol, just pure luck.
And I know soul bows which went poof at +12.
you know from experience? eh?
Be careful Flexstah, haha.

I was goofing around last night with armor enchanting, and I managed to get 4x Drake Leather Armor to +6 (blew up three going for +7). Thought my luck was good, so I tried OEing a set of Doom Plate... bad move! I'd say lesson learned, but is that ever the case?
I cleaned out the rest of the rough blues my alts had today and also fine blues. I failed about 10 brig helms going from 5 to 6 and got 2 out of 3 scallop jams to +12, one blew going to 5. Why must you ellude me +6 armor set?!

I was too chicken to try going past 4 on my glads dama*tall, I'm satisfied with having the SA activated and can't afford a new one if they blew. Makes me wonder though if I would have gotten the duals to +12 or blew it at 5 lol.
obviously heh, i aint plussing it anymore. Just disapointed a bit since the High Grade Enchant I have is good, but it takes away the glow color =(.

I logged in front of someone with +12 c grade duals lol, but obviously if i really want +12 c grade duals i should just buy them for my blade dancer lol. It stinks, that an weapon augment makes the color dimmer from the frontal view.

Blowing up S grade armor that was +6 is just insane makes any type of loss i could even go through seem like nothing. I absolutely gambled it all though this morning. I would of been on the floor broke having to use a common weapon if that happened.
guess what..

2 days ago i successfully enchant countless peices of armor to +4/+5 without a single sucker breaking... on top of it i enchanted a manticore skin tunic to +11 straight away...

So while the suggested 1/2 sucessrate is fine and dandy, doesn't mean it anywhere accurate.

The sucessrate is as identical to that of weapons as you can get, i've done it, 100 dark screamers vs 100 tshirts.... doesn't matter some won't make 4... some won't make 5... some get to 10.....

100 is a very large number.
well I got my Dragon Slayer to +11 after breaking a Master Yogi weapon going to 10 from +9 . so **** lucky lately its not funny. I better stop before the luck runs out.
100 is a very large number.

100 is a drop in the bucket compared to overall enchants on a single server..

the fact of the matter is.... out of 100 +3 shirts or daggers..... on average roughly 66% of either will make it to +4

Not really...

100 is actually just one session...

Also your numbers sounds like the guy that said that got a letter "C" and later on NCSoft admit that they did in fact forgot to add it...
Reading thread's titles like this, I can say: Anything is possible in la2...

(talking about the name if the Thread itself)
well the dragon slayer broke going to +12 heh.

Oh well, also broke crafted leather gloves d grade +9 on them. Broke going for +10 lol. In one shot pure luck. heh,

The % for armor to +4 is 2/3. What's your point?

should had stopped =p
I gave up on making a +6 d set and tried a plated leather set instead, got all pieces done in a few tries. The top got to 6 on the first.

My mains Dama*Tall blew at 8 though.
point is.

66% of the ones that made it to +4... 66% of them will make it to +5...... and 66% of those will make it to +6.... and so on and so forth...

so what's your point.... other then to claim statistical figures that are so inconclusive and unbalanced it's popostrous to consider..

a number of people break going +4 on all weapons constantly.. multiple times in a row... so therefore for them, there chance of getting +4 is what... 0%.... using statistical data ...... hundreds of thousands of samples for a more "accurate" estimation.... still it won't be 100% accurate.

at least they are quoting something quantifiable, you 're quoting a sentence from NCsoft that doesn't have the best track record in terms of accuracy

Weapons enchant at 32% success
Armor enchants at 21% success.

There. I have now presented the same amount of evidence as you.
Ok so using first party information that strickly states 66% using a random number generated that applies a 66% on all enchants is a no no and "quoting a sentence from NCsoft that doesn't have the best track record in terms of accuracy" is horribly bad... no no..

reguardless of the number of times the questions have been raised since DAY ONE of lineage II where GM's and ncsoft staff have stated over and over again that they are 66%..... including Omega at one point (i swear i had a screenshot of there somewhere)

Yet using 3rd party, sniffers that aren't 100%.... are in your eyes... 100%?

At least my figures aren't made up and are based on game data..... not 3rd party statistics.

data from a third party sniffer is still better than no data at all. Which is still what you have.
Just because it comes from NCSoft does definitely not means it's correct. Take a look around, the abysmal state of the website, the faulty descriptions ingame, the replies you get from GMs(when it's not automated and they actually talk to you) It's pretty clear the people who work with this game don't have much of a clue on how it works.

Question for you.
Suppose for a moment you are correct, and the enchant rate for all items is 66%.

I've seen 2 large scale attempts at calculating OE succesrate, I can't remember where the other one took place, but I do remember it showed the same as L2WH, that armor/jewelry is around 1/2 and weapons around 2/3

How does such a huge statistical difference show up with large sample sizes (>1000)?
and how does it get nearly the exact same "wrong number"(~50%) for both armor and jewelry?

but please. do present some actual data. You have yet to do that.
Feel free to dwell on inaccutate data...

the data i presented is the data presented by ncsoft.. and reguardless of what the developers and staff of ncsoft or I say reguarding it, you've already made a clear cut conclusion even if your data is irrelevent.

Judas - I used to come on these boards insisting the same thing you did: all items have a independent 66% chance of OE success, per enchant. Anecdotal evidence that armor/jewelry is harder than weapons is just that ... anecdotal. The small sample sizes dealt with means that no one person's experiences are evidence of anything.

***BUT***

As you will know, the L2 server code was leaked some time ago. So it's out there for all to see. And if you read it, you will notice that what it says on the loading screen is wrong (when it comes to armor).

The 66% chance independent of current enchant level is true for weapons only. Armor works completely differently. Unlike weapons, the success rate on armor ~is~ influenced by the current level of the enchant. That is, each OE is not an independent event like it is for armor.

It's 2/3 chance of success for the +3 -> +4, as you'd expect. But thereafter, the chance halves for every subsequent enchant. So it's 1/3 for +4 -> +5, 1/6 from +5 to +6, and so on. That's the chance of that enchant ALONE being successful, not the cumulative chance to go from +3 to +n.

So to get to +6 on a clean weapon, yeah its 2/3 x 2/3 x 2/3 = ~29.6%

But for an armor/jewel piece, its 2/3 x 1/3 x 1/6 = ~3.7%. That's a massive difference. On 'average' you'd need over 20 items for one to get to +6, compared to only 3 or 4 for a weapon.

And this makes sense when you look at data from "third party sources" (which has a much larger sample size than any individual), as well as looking at the market. That is why you see far more weapons OEed than armors. And that is why when you try to make a +6 shirt, you get heaps of them to +4 and a fair few to +5 ... but getting to +6 seems weirdly harder. It is harder: only 12.5% chance to get from +5 to +6.

Many others in this thread have said basically the same thing as I've said so I doubt this will convince you. But the point is, I used to vehemently defend the position you are taking now. But I've seen the evidence to the contrary ... armor ain't an independent 2/3rd chance each time, but weapons are.
see direct server code is direct evidence... something far more tangeable then statistics..

course i don't know how accurate leaked code would be overall, specially depending on how dated it may be....

we don't know... but based on that dated code... then yes.
