question for lvl 20 orc monk - Retail Forum Archives

Hi I just got my orc to lvl 20 and completed transfer to a monk and it is my very first character and the newbie guide cannot direct me anymore :P so here I am to ask you, where do/can I go from here, lvl 20 orc monk, do I just get random quests or what?

It sounds like you are new to L2. No, no more guidance from the newbie helpres. Just get out and explore. Hunting area with mobs appropriate for your level are Southern Immortal Plateau, and areas around the towns of Gludio, Gludin, and Dion. Look for mobs that are white are green to your level. You can find quests for most of these areas. None of them are great, but the repeatable quests will usually at least give you a little bit of extra money to help pay for shots and other consumables.

could a monk get away with using a wolf or does he need to use a buffalo like everyone else?

I use wolf combo, but I have a SE and EE as buffers...

only used the EE thou lately, so if you hunt in herb areas you should be ok with leveling a wolf. It will be to a grate benefit for you later on in the game.

They work best if you and the wolf have buffs. The wolf will die less often that way.

I know the benefits of the wolf even at low levels but I was considering switching to a buffalo after 25. My highest character is only a level 31 dwarf and he is going to keep the wolf even if none of my other characters do. With my dwarf I have come to depend on the wolves additional damage and I am finally in a clan so maybe I can squeak by but I don't know. Since the monk does better damage than my dwarf I think I may get a buffalo and see how much slower my leveling is without the additional damage that a wolf gives.

I tried a buffalo and it was horrible. I went back to my wolf within 10 kills. I'm going to say for now the problem is that the buffalo has nothing to do. I have the healing cubic so its not actually healing me its just sitting there looking stupid. When I hit level 55 I will go ahead and perhaps buy an improved buffalo if I don't level one with one of my other characters. Perhaps I'll make a destroyer and level a buffalo with him.
