bison was awesome until 2.3 Now it's not very good because it has such a low duration.
Hawk is the best with Health or Focus still the best critical totem, try for yourselfs and compare damage, Ogre is pretty welcome on higher places like HB or if you go to RB as a tank, i have notice many times to be the one dealing the agro of raid bosses even with two tanks spamming hate.
Rabbit i use in few situations, if i need to get someone fast running, if i fall into a lot of agro mobs at once and need hp with VR u get the HP back hell fasf
Ogre like i said pretty nice for higher level mobs, raid bosses if you have to deal with the agro (appen a lot for tyrants), the increase in damage is pretty nice too, but you will notice a break down on critical hits
Hawk is the one i have up 90% of the time, i was comparing the totems after the changes for 2 or 3 days, high level mobs, same level mobs as me, different resistance mobs, mobs weak to my fists element, etc.
After all that no doubt to keep hawk up almost all the time, but that also depend on the place you leveling, support you have, the tattoo setup too.
Like Sneez said Bison was by far the best totem to use before the changes, i was leveling by that time with health fists and imo health is something u never went wrong, but Focus is awesome too since the extra damage output you end up getting.
But currently based on the way i level and the knowledge i have about the class i would go Focus, no doubt, from the pts tests i will keep focus in S80 (This will be long to achieve).
One thing that may give a difference on those choices are the tat setups, so i left here all my current setup i got all the tats around lvl 68 or something around that, before that level the base stats always were nice imo.
Draconic Leather Armor
Demon Splinters w/Focus +3, 150 Fire
Tatossian Jewels (I leveled a lot on TOI 11 that area is almost based on matk's, i used to take out the jewels many times to keep the bison up on good old bison days)
Tattoo setup:
-9 dex, +4 str, +5 con
Before S grade:
Nightmare Light Armor
Demon Splinters w/Health
Same tattoo setup build around lvl 68
Last levels 72 - 76 i used Dark Crystal Light, this change were done for the reason i was leveling on magic type mobs.
About that i have seen many tyrants choosing heavy armor sets, even at s80 many choose that way, imo that's good for deal with some problems like daggers for ex., the stats you get with ogre in heavy armor are pretty nice, but the bonus the class end up in light sets imo are better.
Many ppl choose DC for A grade armor, i tested both sets, and i used to level always in red or light red mobs, with the NM i was able to be leveling getting a heal or two on a 20 min buff round, with DC in same place i would need a heal every 3 or 4 mobs, ended up many times making breaks for mp regen on buffer's, the NM extra VR makes that trick and the defence compared to the DC is still way better NM is also the top A grade set.
I noticed many players choose and look for the atk speed, they never break dex like i did and they choose DC Light or Tallum Heavy for the extra atk speed, testing with 2 different tyrants with same buffs around same level in the same place, the first needing support attention always have been the heavy user, the faster atk never was a difference between the final kill speed over my extra patk.
This is what i can share, but always the final setup depends on the player style, what support he have, the places choosen for leveling.
For last my self-support (Boxed toon), i level a lot in group but also many many times alone, i was till 64-66 with a pp and a se, after that i started building a WC, and it was the best thing i did, still no COV and even before the combo's it was the best support for the tyrant class. Just takes the thing we usually want later compared to the SE's (VR).

In A Grade i was using Bison 80% of the time or Bear by that time.
Currently with the changes i would just use Ogre, and very few times Rabbit that till Hawk off course.
The post about the A grade was the setups i used not the ones i recomend, but the only change i would go for the A Grade setup would be just adding Focus over Health SA, but that adding the +4Con Tat, unless your grind way are more based for white, green mobs, those probably you are safe with base Con, i use to manage even on harder places my health with the totems, my boxed WC hardly is used to spam any heal.
Actually i cant add many numbers since i got so many differences from the based stats, many OE Skills actives and passives, any info about numbers would be wrong for a clean user :/
In the end theres a problem my A grade setup was used before the changes on totems, i never tested and i dont plan to test it again :)
Last thing about NM setup, using BT w/Focus would give you a insane VR back, now is possible very good combine those, but when Bison reuse was shorty you would want to take that benefit so that setup was completly out of Bison users.
Takin a look at Spudnik thread i just see a different option, but like Spud and i told, you must choose the setup that fit your leveling way, and not try to fit on the other ppl setup, you should just test it and the best you can give is your thought's and experience from it.
I personally don't see why you would -Dex since its Attack Speed and Crit Rate. You get Foc Fist to offset what you did in your -Dex. I go -Con instead since a Orc already has a huge amount of con and +Dex +Str but that is just me. With NM you don't need a whole lot of buffer support since your Crit is going to be higher from +Foc Weapons and +Dex on Tats. But that is me personally you don't miss a whole lot in Con with -9 what 1.5k at the most? But you pick up a big amount in Crit/Attack Speed which means with Fist Fury/haste 2/Zerk you don't even really need shots unless you are leveling on 2x+ mobs. Saves money on normal mobs and can level just as fast. I know lots of people that could solo with a DC in Pagan's with old Bison staying in the 30% range without Epic Jewls just Demon Splinters w/HP and NM Set.

Spuds lvling way seems slower than yours, I think imma go with yours :D
i dont exp everyday. i exp maybe once every three weeks or so. i dont have buffers to help me except my WC box.
and as mindkeeper pointed out, i need more support cause i am in heavy.
i dont pretend to have the best setup, i never did. but thats the beauty of the Tyrant - you dont need the best setup.
i suggest you take Mindkeeper's advice: but like Spud and i told, you must choose the setup that fit your leveling way, and not try to fit on the other ppl setup
I think going -dex just to offset it with an SA and armor is stupid, if you hadn't gone -dex it would just be even better, right?
With -9 con and -1 from DC I still have over 6.5k HP with BtB5(prophet not 70 yet). if I went +5 con instead of -9, I would have 10k, but I wouldn't hit very hard or fast. All in all I would level much much slower.
I never have problems staying alive unless I accidentally pull 5 mobs at a time and I already have bison/zealot on cooldown. And even then I'll still have rabbit to get the hell out.
Granted I level with PP+SE buffs.

Don't be discouraged Spud. The GK is one of the strongest toons in the game, period! This class is one of the classes in Oly I just don't know how to beat on my 78 lowbie Soul Hound! (Seriously! One EE and one particular summoner also actually, since nothing lands... Ever...).
Okay, fair enough, I'm talking about Over-gearded/leveled opponents here (full boss jewels, S80 armour, level 84+). But man, the GK is a monster! I beat S80+ TK's with ease, SK's also. I've never lost to one S80, +10or so FB, +6/7 or so ICARUS bow, Lesser Pheonix bearing Paladin in Oly... Ever, and this guy farms the place. Hide daggers are 50/50 after they get the first stab in because of Hide (which is ******ed).
I lose to some HK's simply by screwing up imo (and the HK players tends to be good with their ovp gear, and + 15+ Shield Stun though, I'll give them that), Titan's are a joke unless I screw up. I've never lost to an archer in Oly, even the over-geared/leveled ones (I know one guy has like +21 Stun shot). It could happen though for sure, but I've never been chain stunned by anything but a tank... Yet.
EE's are beasts. By the time you've cleared their buffs, so you can do damage and land debuffs, you got no mp. This only works from the level 85, over-geared one I fight all the **** time with about 4 different AM with nuke augments on. The only time I beat him was when Maximum Ability fired and I got to use skills for free, I managed to land Death Mark and Checkmate (uber high skill crit, must have been) in the space of 8 seconds. Not exactly a winning strategy, more the last act of a desperate man.
S79+ nukers... Depends, I can out nuke MM's after buff steals for some reason (lol) but the sorc and STS, if I don't land Silence or Death Mark+Checkmate, one-shot them, or they simply crit first, I am dead, but that's to be expected after the Painkiller nerf...
Essentially, I have a strategy against most of these classes but man the GK is just too uber now it has element. With equal levels and same boss jewels I might be able to win, but right now it's just too much work. He has far too much HP/CP for me to get through before I eat a Buster crit and drop like a low con/low hp fly.
Even if I magic crit on him for like a platry 2-3k (I say paltry because I expect to hit orcs for more than that, he may have the 82 books) he still has tons of HP/CP left. Where as he crits me with a Buster for like 4-5k _-_. After I've stolen Champions Favor and him being nowhere near ready for Bison. The thing is, I beat a level 83+, S80 (he 'now' has Weapon Blockade so yeah...) Duelist almost 50-60% of the time. This guy with +7 or more S Duals with Clarity augment, has somewhere in the reagion of 10k CP alone. I can barely break that with HP and CP combined lol (I need to make a Heal augment yaksa for the 25% health mod) yet I can still win.
Could be player-skill level and different gear (the Orc has 300 attribute already for sure), but the Orc is several magnitudes more difficult to fight. He even rolls the over-powered Doombringer farmer most of the time also (who has a 4.5k pdef UD, a double Mdef magic UD which can be enchanted to last almost it's re-use, the ability to restore ALL it's hp, and the ability to make a toon useless for 5 or so seconds with an 8 second re-use Disarm).
Basically, what I'm saying is don't be disheartened. You are leveling an amazing character. The GK is one of the most fun classes in the game. I only came back to the game because they made the Kamaels and I was curious. If they didn't exist I would probably have made a GK (or maybe Warlord) for sure..
yeah, its really fun, ive had a great time playing... i just dont like soloing but i LOVE being a DD. my WC is 65... doesnt have ultra great buffs but i havent needed the ultra buffs.
i COULD make it to 8x solo, probably. if i had the motivation to play solo. sadly however i do not. few players posess the mental strangth to sit solo and kill in IOP or have the cojones to solo in varkas.
It should be easier after the update. Asside for the Gasp annoyance (not a huge deal tbh) if you had made an SE then you could litterally go anywhere. If it get's rough, you got heals+Bless the Blood (which is friggin' amazing), and after the update it also gets skill link for whatever EE+Bish skills you need.
It might be worth getting your WC up to 75, (just ignore playing your GK for now) and subbing an SE. It's just that uber nowadays. A GK with Stigma+PoW can probably solo anywhere except the deep parts of HB. You can certainly do the beach (even I can do the beach with just an SE lols, but then I have ++ Silence for those annoying dark nukes).
Even if you don't try subbing your WC, getting it to 75 to level along-side your GK is something I'd reccomend. You will get top-level VR and the rest of the combo buffs (cheaper faster buffing) and the WC won't take a beating from Aoe mobs if you use auto-follow.
Also after the update the new 80+ areas will be here. They 'say' it's 80+ only but then they said that about IoP. The mobs in the new Giants Cave for example (EllieBelly) seem to have low as hp, and give seemingly, a bit more than double the xp of the IoP mobs. If the spawns are good (fast and close by) it will be a fantastic place to level. I would only suggest getting to at least 77 before going to these places though. Accuracy and your own evasion as a LA class are things to consider. Additionally the received crit-rates will be high because of how high the mobs are.
They also apparently drop Wind Stones so you could make some serious fast cash before everyone else catches on. There are a few such new areas and I will explore them all, despite not having the 'reccomended' class for them. I will certainly be trying Dino Island for example.
It won't make you level 80 in an instant but it will bew a hell of a lot easier with better xp plus imporved vitality also, and it will break things up a hole lot more than just going to IoP, Varka, or HB.
Alternatively, if you have a nice clan of similar level players, there's also a new Rift which is similar to the deep parts of HB in terms of XP (and difficulty apparently). Hero Rift is pretty much a joke after S grade.
At your level, i suggest you to go TOI 10, is the best XP floor from the archangels, the 11 is nice too to start around 72, but after move down to 10.
The problem on 11 is the paralize, risk of few magic crits, sleep is not a problem they sleep and wake u up after lol
On 10 they stun on 1st form, thay also paralize, but with a very very real very low rate, and they cast it so slow you can notice and break the skill all the time.
If you like the place you can probably go to 79 there without problems, the right side from TOI 10 entrance have less mobs compared to the left side, so if you try start there if you like and feel confident move to the left, the mobs from entrance hall (where those two bit stones are) will reset at the 3rd wall division, so best place to leave the boxed WC is at the midle, skip those 3 mobs before the "rocks" if u manage it well you will have mobs all the time to kill.
Don't put the WC AF on you, i have a laptop where i run my WC so i can control the toon to be close to me at the same time but out of the magic fields specially if the WC is using robes. You VR back without problems but the WC doesnt so keep it away of the damage.
Good place is always Hero Rift you just need to manage the agro with care till you get used to those rooms.
yeah i was there for a good chunk of level 72 and 73. maybe i'll go back now that Ogre has changed.
Orge is the best PVE Totem out there right now. +Pdef, +Patt, +Mdef and no -Run. At 58 on my new tyrant with +4 Str, PL Set, +7 Anthro Nails I have almost 1.1k Pattack with orge and 700 Pdef, and 800 Mdef in +0 C Jewls. So Tell me what totem is better?
yes, thats nice, but it didnt used to be that way. in its earlier incarnation i couldnt do much up in toi10, just didnt have enough stats to do it solo. needed lots of help.
personaly i use hawk ( with focus fist ) 99% of the time in pve, imo rabbit/ogre are pvp totems, i tank HB daily (not the chimeras if i can help it ) with hawk and +5str -5dex and my crit rate is about 300 with buffs, so yeh if u want to hurt stuff pve then hawk ftw,
yes bison r.i.p was the and when we could keep it up all the time health fists was a must.
I use focus fists with hawk, get a good augment and u can have with regular buffs over 250 crit rate, i only use ogre for tanking stuff if necessary. But once u hit 74 u only wanna use hawk imo. I got no tatos but i think u should tato depending on how u plan to play it. I find it a very fun class to play.
