Having just returned, and very much enjoying the game, I find my old Sieghardt is now rolled in with a few other servers, yet most servers are still "light" in population.
So why not cut the number of servers in half and merge them again? Seems players win by having miore people to play with, and NCsoft wins by having less cost to maintain as many servers.
No thx, one server merge was enough for me. But sure, why not merge the servers who could not enjoy a merge so far, like Bartz etc.? I am sure the major clans there would like to lose their clan halls :)

The last mergers, imo, weren't done particularly well. Though others seem to think there was months of pre-notification, I remember it as fairly short and with many, many questions unanswered.
Whoever logged in first basically got to keep names in contention (my Revenant clan was "Revenant" and is now "Revenant4", thank-you-not-so-much) for toons and clans and all clan-halls went up to first logged in with the fee to buy one as well.
Those details were decided and shared in some cases DAYS before the merge. As it happened at maintenance, most anyone in NA with a job was screwed as far as timing.
Too, there was no thought to asking player opinion on what servers might be a better fit to be merged--only participation we had was choosing between a set number of mostly stupid names.
I'm fairly sure of 2 things--mergers will occur again in NA servers and it won't be handled any better than the first pathetic circumstance.
that's how is at aq on ru off. and there are lots of other movies with over 1500 people fighting which gives alot of competition
If they actually made AQ a boss that takes longer than 2 minutes to kill, and give it a Set Spawn, you would see a lot of Mass PvP over it on these servers too. It's just easier for major clans to Farm Frint, and trade off for AQ's when needed.
Merges do nothing but make more problems as seen last time.
It does not help anything to merge, servers have been light since i don't prelude and they added servers. Get over it you don't like it play another game. I know plenty of people who transferred off the merge servers since the population is still low.
I'm Very happy on my server, don't mess with it please. Plenty of ppl, maybe too many. If your server needs more, can I petition to have some involuntarily transferred from mine?
Russian official server... ****, I wish we had as many ppl as they do... mass pvp 100+ vs 100+ rulezzzz
Don't forget that theyr servers are free to play and that they are depending on people buying in-game items with NC Coins.
If our servers where free to play to then I bet that many from the private servers would start to play here.
You saw what the server merges did....completly nothing, People transfered off theyr "new" servers to other servers leaving the "new" server even more empty than it was before the merge.
But sure, if you like a merge then merge the servers that didn't get merged last time so that you can see how fun it is to lose a CH you have worked hard to get.
I think most people would have it the other way for obvious reasons.
Then again, some of us have played games where that model has existed. If the farmers are kept in check, it leaves the game is a much more balanced state.
You serious? People buy w/e they want now anyway. At least with no bots, hunting areas are taken up by 'people' , who have to deal with real human limitations in leveling. I doubt you would see a 75/75/75/75 toon in 2-3 months like you currently see on retail...

I know exactly what you mean about epic raids but my point is, people buy that crap now anyways. They just run a train for a while and if they are lucky, and don't get banned, they have enough to start buying epics anyways. Sure getting Baium, Anthy, Valakas is a different ball-game but they are still on the market for the most part.
Even if they don't run a train, they Ebay enough (some people are rich I guess) they can have it all also. Then they can do epic raids with the gear they need to farm more (if they are in the right clan ofc, but is it that hard to xfer with al lthat gear and not get into a top clan? Yeah right...).
Not saying the RU server is the way it should be (those Xp scrolls are indeed BS), but all that crap happens already to some degree. I don't see how it would be any worse on the RU servers.
One hopes for server mergers, or maybe even plays with the idea of transferring servers, but truthfully the grass is just the same on the other side of the fence and things soon become what they left in search of more. We all had a great time when L2 was in its prime (though many have a different idea of when that was) and now we are scrambling to reenact that time. I'm afraid it's not meant to be. It seems that the pvp players are the ones who are doing the searching, as the pve'ers are all pretty satisfied.
true and Franz is with Phoenix sharing the 2nd most populated server spot right after Teon so I don't see that one being merged at all for now.. if you want more ppl to play with move to Teon.

Almost right Draeke--although I'm not aware that there is objective evidence that more "people" play on Teon than on Franz. There are more accounts logged in, no doubt.
Russians ban bots cause they rely on people buying exp/sp/items from them to survive in game.
no items but exp/sp probably right. there are some vitality items and passes into solo exp instances...
and btw most bans there are temporary i.e. they get unbanned after certain period of time. this way they can ban any suspicious characters and still not lose customers.
Personally I 'd rather live with bots than with a server full of people that can buy anything safely for RL money from the game publisher

From my understanding official Russian L2 is free to play with micro transactions.
I don't know if that's true, haven't looked into it much.
If it is then banning bots is a win-win for them. They don't lose anything and the bots are going to make the market cheaper for the average player, thus making them less likely to buy "help" from the company.
Here 1 banned bot costs them 15 USD/month, they aren't going to get that back.
