No actually this thread isn't about bots, that was to get peoples attention. (seems to be what gets attention around here sometimes)
So we held a contest with several prices, yet it wasn't really a success at all, heck to the point where most people didn't even go to the contest page at all.
So what does people want to win in a contest? (thats actually realistic)
Or is the money better spent on other communities besides L2?
i looked at the site, but i felt i couldn't participate due to lack of practical ideas, i have a lot, but none would be good enough to win... so instead of trying, and failing, i've decided to just not try, therefore not lose.
the prizes listed seem fine.
i mean maybe it's not abundantly clear what the prizes are? maybe it should be in the banner? maybe it should be advertised in game? a lot of people don't use the main website, and instead rely on fan sites which have more info available on certain classes, and maps n junk like that.

Since this contest isn't for all, while all pay to play........
http://l2.eogamer.com - Best news and content site for Lineage 2 done by veteran players.
I'm gueessing he did a contest on the website, but not many people participated. (didn't even know there was a contest tbh, i always tend to atleast see what they're about, even though i don't stand a chance to win :p).
So yeah, i think it was a lack of advertising that made the contest not go as well as planned. Maybe try asking Lyzira (sp?) to put a small notice on the ingame motd next time.

You don't need any practical ideas, just sign up for an account on our systems, write an email listing your account names and voila, you've entered.
The prizes are clear on the page. We can't advertise the prizes ingame, NCSoft won't allow that and people seem to not care enough to advertise word of mouth.

What do you mean its not for all? our contest is open for just about all.

Its been advertised on the game startup screen for over a month, there has been a thread here on the forum here as well. (largely ignored) NCSoft won't do more than that, so not sure how we could advertise more than that.
And btw, you stand a huge chance at winning, there's almost as many prizes as there are entries, so you can easily win.
I think, Lineage2 players want game events and contests? I think most players can put in some serious time in a contest when they know that they will be rewarded. Ingame contents were everyone can attend.

Just a thought
Well, I don't see how exactly we'd hold ingame event as we're not NCSoft.
I checked the event out.
Too many chances for entry was the turn off for me. I felt that people who made multiple accounts discretely and knew what they were doing, could get 100+ entries without breaking a sweat.
It's not hard to fool I.p filters and such. So I felt that I had 0 chance of winning and didn't bother.
The prizes weren't bad. A 30 day time card is actually not that bad of a prize.
We're just a small community especially in the states. Its just a numbers game, 1/100 people sign up in WoW and you got a huge contest. 1/100 in Lineage 2 you have not much.

You would have to spoof hundreds of accounts, hundreds of IPs and hundreds of emails and we'd notice, we check every entry that comes in.
And btw, right now you have a pretty good chance at winning...at least a 1 in 2 chance of winning something right now. There's very few entries. (might increase in the last few days of the contest.
oh really? You want us to create a bazillion accounts, email you that I created all the accounts and it gives me a chance to win something?
Pfff....nope sry, just not motivated enough to go through the enless signup procedures...
You only have to sign up once if you want to. You don't have to take all the chances, you still have a great chance at winning.
What do you expect? That we just hand stuff over for free with no effort whatsoever? Why? Would you give me free money?
Truth as well.
Look at mmorpg.com
Their events work pretty well. You have one account, and every couple days you get a another chance with the same account.
Theirs are sponsored gifts most of the time, we don't have that luxury. And we're also covering a lot more and the prizes are actually higher (when was the last time mmorpg.com had xbox360s as prizes) provided the signups ever actually get that far.
Why not just call the thread what it is actually about? Surprised it's not locked yet.
Well, because I am pretty sick of many that doesn't include "bots" or complain about ingame stuff gets ignored. Heck even the main contest thread.
Its honestly sickening that the L2 community is one of the only communities like that. It is no wonder that there's just about no L2 contest outside of PR contests by NCSoft directly or indirectly.
perhaps have stuff on most servers as they are pretty much a large bunch of people.
I wouldn't call us a large bunch. I think Ellie is the only person with anything really high level and she'd have to carnibalize her character to get prizes...the only other option would be to Ebay it, but we don't want that.
Ingame stuff is as mentioned rather hard to do cause you'd need to be able to give things of equal value across all servers.
Hope the contest goes upto the 2 statuetes, but yeah, think i'tll stick to tier 1 & 2. (luckily someone mentioned in this thread that we had to mail our participations <<, had forgotten to do that).
And well, compared to a year+ ago, the l2 forums have gotten rather silent. Gueess just not many people use the official lineage2 boards anymore.

I'm not expecting you to give away stuff free.
At one point I've been a forum mod myself, thinking up contests, but the one thing I kept hearing is that people just didn't want to create an account.
I know you want potential sponsors to be able to see lots of registered members. Nothing wrong with that, just keep in mind next time how much ppl hate having to create an account.
