is this game still popular and worth playing
or is iet nearly dead?

tnx!
Still Alive
Will be here for another 5 years easily
Worth playing.

with sieges with thousands of people

Server status (light/heavy) does not mean anything. It just displays the degree of server load while the capacity itself is unknown. The number of players that's "light" for one server can be "heavy" for the other.
And believe me, you don't want sieges with "thousands of people", because a few hundreds are enough to make you freeze for half an hour due to incredible lag.
I personally prefer sieges with small or medium numbers of players when everything runs smoothly.

Most important, you CANNOT judge the game just by looking at starting villages or low level hunting zones (yes they are empty at the moment because the majority of players is xping somewhere else, getting close to lvl 80). Due to the past changes, leveling to 70+ has become so easy that it can be done in a couple of months. After this, you will be able to see if you actually like this new state of Lineage 2 or not. Just prepare yourself to face the fact that you need to be at least 79+ to be worth something in PvP.
And it will probably take you a few years to level to 80+.
So there, you have it.

You are truly unusual sir! You bought L2 yesterday. You post a supposed question about the game appearing to be dead. Nice.
You have been on this forum for nearly 8 months!!! Congrats to you for having the discipline to participate in the forum of a game that you didn't play--or even own, and to do so for a considerable time!
You are a rock, sir!

Obviously he didn't start yesterday, maybe on January 11:

hey i just started playing L2 today
It is more alive now than it was a few chronicles ago.

I actually had to look for a hunting spot yesterday and no there weren't taken by bot parties, they were taking by people. That was a good feeling...
Well. I just got to level 19 today. Now Im still in the Noob dark elf place, so I cant really say that I have seen many people.

Also, the feeling of being a little desolate maybe comes from the fact that there is no real solid "World" communication tab. Which as a Noob, would be helpful when you get sort of confused.

I am seriously not worried about things to much. NCsoft has a solid reputation of making games that people want to play. My only suggestion would be to maybe improve global communication a little more as to allow for the opening and beginning player to not feel so...alone.

Actually... they have made a big improvement when they introduced the free teleports to any town. You can go to Dion or Giran and, assuming you are not on a dead server, you will see a lot of people.

Maybe they should make the newbie guide tell you to port to Giran in order to meet other people! :)
you can lvl very fast now, so that alone feeling does not last! Awesome when you run though fields meeting real players lvling away. Say hello and have it returned. :D
Well sometimes it's confusing. I am on Pheonix so it apparently has a pretty decent population! Which is good. Im just currently in the School of the Dark Arts right now. I think I leveled quicker because I was learning how to actually play and time my magic spells...which now means that the enemies in those places are not so hard.

Thank goodness for Cestus's...I could have spelled that wrong. But punching things is pretty fun!
Welcome to L2. I think it is a wonderful game. I have been playing for years now and still find new things almost every day.

There are plenty of players on my server. Like was mentioned earlier, the 'Light' server status is meaningless. Just because it says light doesn't mean that there arent plenty of people around, though you will find more as you move to the higher level areas. Since L2 is 5 years old, many players are higher level so do not go to the western lands much. Dion will have people, and Giran and Aden and Rune.

Have fun and I hope you enjoy L2 as much as I do!
Definately take advantage of the free port. Hang around in Dion when possible, there are some nice groupings in there and you may find some new clans to interview with and get to know.
tnx for the info :D
so L2 is still popular....

but ehm...im on the server teon
its popular right?
I play on Sayha.

People tend to play on one server and not know much about other servers. So when a post offers and interserver comparison, it is generally uninformed.

It's the BEST EVAR! No question!

If that was true, why is it that last siege I was watching a 76 Doom bringer kill people? x:

And why is it that everyone and their grandmother target me when we defend our castle? :/

Truth is, all you need is S grade to be useful in pvp, well and a intelligent healer in your party.

server capacity is known and has been known for a while, all servers are capped at 6000 connections. Light is under 3000 online, Heavy is over 4000 medium is 3-4000

good point! lol
