Remember when....

Lets do a fun ol' fashioned remember when thread with memories of L2 over the years. I always enjoy seeing other peoples posts.

Remember when you had to click on a soulshot for it to equip and there was no auto use on anything? You would sit there and hit the F(x) key over and over and over again. Man that sucked!!! Talk about carpal tunnel....

Also remember when Antharas hadnt even been killed once yet? Then once someone actually did it and found that it really wasnt that hard you had ever clan on every server trying to do it all the time....

lets hear em!
Remember when you would be afraid to run to Talking Island port because there was always a red waiting for people? Or when you would fall off a boat, or swim to Gludin?

The funniest thing I remember is when I logged in for the first time ever and there were a ton of "he's outside the west gate, get him" shouts and going out to see what's going on (TI village), only to get 1 shot by a red archer and over 40 people chasing him....

Yes, those were the days :) lol
remember when fishing was first introduced, and people were everywhere, in every river, pool, lake, and even off of heine and giran walkways fishing...
remember the first time a monster spawned, and you started attacking it with your fishing pole?

i wasn't in talking island at those times, though i do remember the reds on wind mill hill.
As much as I sometimes bad mouth NC Soft for their Bot issue you can't fault Lineage 2. I have to say that it was the memories of those times on Talking Island and many others that brought me back after being gone three years.

I remember feeling for the longest time how I missed my two Alts and regarded their memory with a sweet fondness and a sad forlorness as if they were real people who had passed away and all I had left of them were memories.

That was until I logged back in.
remember when there was no auto ss, oh the clicking
remember when there were no town maps and looking around for the wh took 20 minutes!
remember when brigadine was tha shiattttt
when you actually had to run all the way to Cruma Tower from Dion, no porting to it.

when you could go to Cruma Tower and there would be at least 2 groups worth of people in the lobby forming groups to xp.

when it took almost a full party to help any dorf get to the chest on the 2nd floor in CT for class quest.

i miss CT's glory days
remember when max lvl was 76....no skills enchants....

I am, to this day, forever greatfull to those 9 ppl who slaughtered the mobs between my sorry lil dwarf and the chest, not only once, but twice.

Thank you CT2 party that took pity on my lil dwarf.

The youngsters today have it too easy... with a bit of cautious manouvering they wont even get aggro on the way to the chest, and with 3 mil in their pocket they dont even have to.

This game is getting too easy lol.
This game is getting too easy lol.
Go reach S80 on at least one of your toons lol.
No CP Pots, no buff scrolls, PP could sit outside of Dragon Valley and make 20k per buff round and they were gods if you got one to go out and party with them.

Remember the origional Catas and Festivals and the first time an ally locked up the dawn / dusk and the botters were so mad that whole week....
remembering those days only makes me wanna go back to them...
far enough back, there was no cp at all, i don't think ghp was easy to come by if it existed at all.

when leveling a wolf actually took effort, and...
warlocks were best at it. when striders were sought after.

when they had those mini bosses all around including 2 on talking island...

trying to complete the mark of the duelist class change quest...
without newbie buffs.
Remember when mid-A weps were a luxury.
Som/dle/carnage bow
no S grades
When freight didn't exist, and you'd have to leave all your items in a secret hiding place and hope nobody found them by the time you changed char and got them back.
....... body2mind could kill you :)
Go reach S80 on at least one of your toons lol.

Why? I'm having more fun playing subs atm.
Is subbing now easier than WS CCQ used to be then?

The game is not "getting too easy", it's just its scale has been changed a bit.
run with a tarin begind me into a souless group on aligator island fae death on my bh and enjoyed all those little things elven rings hundred dyes man it as like xmas

saw the dwarf who was leading the train back in the days he is now maestro hero on saysha ;)

It's not totally easy, but it has been getting much easier as the updates go on. Compare getting to 1-76 now with that of 2-3 years ago.
S-grade of 3 years ago is S84 now. Compare to it.
Remember when the term Bot was synonomous with the word Chinese.

Now its just regular players who do it.
Trism, what clan are you in on Phoenix?
S-grade of 3 years ago is S84 now. Compare to it.

The S grade of 3 years ago is still the same S grade as now, in fact. Difference being, it's much easier to achieve. 1-76 could take 1-2 years before, now you see people doing it in 1-2 months. Definitely easier. Good for you for thinking you're good at the game for having an S80 toon, though.
Trism, what clan are you in on Phoenix?

None; I just have a private one for warehouse purposes.

Trism is not my main anyway.

I was Scavenger going BountyHunter ><. I have gotten alot of questions about craft lvl through out the years lol.
lol
1) Shouting "Anyone up for SoDA?" and getting spammed with pm's with people wanting in.

2) Riding the boat from talking island.

3) Gludin was the "Market Hub" and not Giran.

4) Making 3M adena selling Brig Helms.

5) Having a wolf pet was unique.

6) Waiting for the big upgrade so we could form Clans.

7) There was once a server called Sieghardt. RIP

8) You could train a bunch of mobs onto a bot and he would drop his gear when he died.

9) If someone was trying to train you, you could shield stun him, and laugh as you picked up his gear.

10) Falling through the terrain.

11) Running underwater from TI to the mainland.
1) Shouting "Anyone up for SoDA?" and getting spammed with pm's with people wanting in.I rember those days standing in Gludio shouting for a party and within minutes it was full.

2) Riding the boat from talking island.I remember falling of the boat and trying to swim back and dying in the water.

3) Gludin was the "Market Hub" and not Giran.I missed Gludin, when I started playing GLudio was the place to be. I remember running all the way to Giran hoping I didn't die after being told they sold brig in the store there. When I got the someone was selling the hole set for less than one piece was being sold for in GLudio or Dion. Was so happy.

4) Making 3M adena selling Brig Helms. I never sold the helms but I do remember seeing someone dead on the ground and they dropped full plate armor and an elven neckless. I ran over picked it up and then asked the person if he wanted a rez. The toon never answered I think that was my very first interation with a dead bot. From then on I tried to get every bot (or who I thought was a bot killed by mobs) that was the easiest way to make adena ever.

5) Having a wolf pet was unique.Mine Kept dieing culdnt afford to keep him alive and fed I sold him after 2 lvl's.

6) Waiting for the big upgrade so we could form Clans. What update was this? C2 thats when I started and clans were already in

7) There was once a server called Sieghardt. RIP Never played on there but feel sorry for the people who had to deal with the merger.

8) You could train a bunch of mobs onto a bot and he would drop his gear when he died. Wonderfull memmories posting on other forums the loot I got of thier bot parties. Specially in the catacombs. IMO they ruined L2 the day they protected bots.

9) If someone was trying to train you, you could shield stun him, and laugh as you picked up his gear. There were many ther ways to kill, I remember using freezing skin on NPC's. I also remember when Aura flare kept all mele away from the spellsinger.

10) Falling through the terrain. Only good memories remember.
I remember as a young boy in the 1960s, this thing on TV called Wrestling, where the violence was so over-the-top that we all knew it was fake. Oh, wait, .....
10) Falling through the terrain.

still works for me :P hehe.. woa and field of silence are perfect for that :)

Difference is, 3 years ago S-grade was endgame. Now it's just midlevels.

Good for you for thinking you're good at the game for having an S80 toon, though.
I don't have an S80 toon. Not with my playtime. I hope to make one till the end of the year, though, if we see Gracia Plus in October.

3 years ago I thought I would never have PoW. Now I think I will never have BoE. Is it a big difference? Not for me, sorry.
Remember the days when you were chasing reds around Cruma marshlands you had a chase happening every day lol.

Remember the days when you would get killed by a mob and drop a piece of your armor, then someone would come by and you'd ask that person to pick the piece and trade it back to you but never did, at which point you started flaming them in PMs and then went on a PK rampage after them and if not them the clan they were tagged with until you got compensation :D (you occasionally fell upon people that were great that would not just pick up the item and give it to you but also rez you, those were the good people).

Remember the days when there was train parties going on all over Antharas Lair.

Remember the days when it used to be call Dragon Valley Caves, oh wait I still call it that haha!!

I still get confused when people call it AL instead of DVC. Also I get annoyed when people say to meet at the MDT instead of MRT!!!!
I remember all the castles being held by NPCs since noone had ever taken them. There were two warring groups of clans on Erica and both wanted to be the first to take Aden. The siege day arrived and each side had hundreds and hundreds of players.

After confused skirmishing on the siege field, each alliance took one side of the castle and attacked the walls, remember that B graders were high levels and most attackers were C or D grade the castle NPCs were tough and a LOT more of them than current sieges, they had walls of dozens of NPCs. So my side broke in thru one wall and the other side broke the other wall down, everyone was fighting each other and the npcs, this was the first time anyone had been inside the castle so the layout was all a mystery. There was such a fight in the throne room that noone was able to successfully scribe, so we did it again in two weeks.

And at that time there was full exp loss on death at siege fields, none of this clan hall mitigation, brezzes, and so forth. If your clan's bishop had a 30% rez then you were lucky. Most people lost a level or two in the fight then spent the next two weeks getting it back, just to lose it again.

PS and the subclass quest IS easier now. Used to be one clan on my server blocked all access to Baium, you either made a deal with them or didn't sub.
exp loss was more than 4% then too, as i recall it was 7%, but i think that changed per level for some reason.
I remember almost no one using gatekeepers because they were so expensive compared to the money we had back then. Shots were often a luxury for emergencies, not something to be constantly used. People wore mixed armor, whatever they could find, ng and D and C all together.

My first big crafting project for money, going in 50%/50% with a friend, was making dual sabres (low D). We each made about 100k adena after expenses which, in those days, was a small fortune.

I also remember the 'chicken hole,' the break in the south Gludin wall which allowed reds to get into town. The fields just south of Gludin saw a lot of fights against reds.
I remember when we had tons of those lil souless scavengers at dark elf village running arround like cockroaches. Players think they are bad now sheesh those days it was much , much worse.

I also remember the goblin group in DE village, the raid Pan was also in nuetral zone at that time as well and 1 other raid was on the other side of the mountain by where he was.

I also remember my very first day in the Catacomb of Dark Omens when it was free to get in on an ancient server named Hindemeth. I was NG still at the time becuase I had just started game and thought that place was pretty cool.
Don't you remember
The fizz in a pepper
Peanuts in a bottle
At ten, two and four
A fried bologna sandwich
With mayo and tomato
Sittin' round the table
Don't happen much anymore

We got too complicated
It's all way over-rated
I like the old and out-dated
Way of life

Back when a *** was a ***
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when

I love my records
Black, shiny vinyl
Clicks and pops
And white noise
Man they sounded fine
I had my favorite stations
The ones that played them all
Country, soul and rock-and-roll
What happened to those times?

I'm readin' Street Slang For Dummies
Cause they put pop in my country
I want more for my money
The way it was back then

Back when a *** was a ***
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when

Give me a flat top for strumming
I want the whole world to be humming
Just keep it coming
The way it was back then

Back when a *** was a ***
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when

I remember animal bone/iron selling for 200-300adena in dion/giran town.
I remember +10 dual 107 (D grade) selling for only 3M adena for weeks most player
could not afford them.
I remember when Mystic Mage class was overpowered using polearm/bow.
I remember when S grade was lvl 68 not 76.
I remember when a red soul crystal stage 7 sell for over 25Million Adena (homu SA)
I remember when you log on your buffer/healer you are spam with many pm and invite to different group.
I remember when every player was untag and PUG(pick up group) was the norm to xp
I remember when SE was ask to do everything in group (heal, buff, recharge, target, root, and windshackle) and would be scream at if we sit to regen mp.
I remember when this game USED to be an MMO, not a Box/bot Just "me" more game.

I remember when Bots were the enemies, not the "top" player's trains.

I remember when newbs used to "learn the ropes" from other players, not get farmed out for clan points and get inducted or ousted from clan if they were willing to cheat or not to cheat.
I remember when the dwarf city was overrun with queues of bots.
I remember then the game was full of life, you'd go to Dion, shout for party and you'd have one in no time.
I remember when I was going like crazy after brig recs and parts so I can finally craft that awesome armour.
I remember when top grade d weapons were really hard to get. I eyed that awesome axe for many weeks before I had the 1.6 million needed to buy it :).
I remember when I went on a bot rampage - low lvl in full ng armour :), killed loads of them and then got attacked by real players trying to get a red's gear :). I killed them all then spent ages deleveling so I could get rid of all tha karma.
I remember when the D and C grade markets were full of life .
I also remember the excitement after crafting a full BW heavy set and a BO jewels set :).
i remember the wishing potion quest, and sold that pots for 400k each!!
i remember i used my falcion (NG) for 2nd ccq, then finally was able to buy an **** crimson sword.
i remember when i run first time from giran to oren (death pass) and i saw ppl xp there. i was like WTF!!! how cool are those ppl that they can xp here!!!!
i remember the first time i did toi quest and got a maj helm recipe for it (sold for 109m!!!).
i remember a 9 ppl party at toi 10th all mid 50ies, the xp was just awesome and it took 2 hours to run up there

good ol' times
I remember when Bishop was so asked to rez someone until they've introduced Brez ...
I remember when i was shoutting Bishop LFG and got 10 pm in less than 1 minute.
i remember when lvl 40 quest to become a bishop was so hard that it took me 3 days to finish.
I remember when a Homunkulus clean was 10M and i blowed up 3 at +4
I remember when ppl thought Revita-pops was the cure for everything.

That was yesterday :D
Remember when you saw someone with B grade (even C) and said OMG he is pro.
A personal memory: how many hours I'd spent in front of the screen trying to get to lvl20.
I remember when I was listening those calm sounds in Dark Elven Forest.
I still go there to relax and rehear them...
Remember when supporter classes were INDEED needed...(That's why I didn't make Shilien Elder this time, although they are my only love)
+1 to CrazyKeke's post.
Remember when Newbie Villages were overcrowded (now dead empty....)
Remember when -4% was Oh **** Ouch...
Remember when you had to break your head to go up to 40 and do the Quests...
Remember when there was more communication instead of this cold LF Kama pt and nothing else...
Remember when you were getting into clan JFF (just for fun) and not for getting armors/weaps/etc.
Remember when you visited Giran/Gludin arena and you were watching people dying.
Remember when there were no duels...
Remember when I first saw this game by a friend of mine who was struggling to spoil with his ol' dorf male character in the Ruins Of Despair.
Remember when Ruins of Despair and Ruins of Agony were full of people who were fighting and high-lvled players who were wearing their apprentice armors and started hitting newbs. And we (newbs by then) were hitting them back without knowing and they casted a prominence and bump we got owned...
Remember when I saw a Spellsinger casting Aura Flare for the first time and I told him: " Cast it on me please...",I thought it was a buff, you know the whole story...
Remember when my friend was crazy to get an AOBA for his dorf...
Sticky this please...
If you fell off the side of the mountain in Dark elf land u could not die from water damage, and if you didnt have an SOE u had to do a /gm and wait for them to move you.
If you crafted Bone Armor you were in business!
Selling ur NG weapons and armor was actually worth it to get ur money back.
You couldn't afford ng soulshots
Aggro mini bosses...
Discovering Orphen when she was still aggro
CT sitting around waiting for a new group to form up or for someone to log out so u could start xping.
CT reds every where and training everyone
I could put a lot more, but i will stop here lol
I rember the times where PP was the best buffer in game and could sell buffs to make money.
I rember the times where PP was the best buffer in game and could sell buffs to make money.

and warcryer was terrible and no one wanted them, now they are easily the best! Well hmm shillien elder does have stigma which is great but wc is great for mana management and being up to go in 15 seconds.
Remember when Dark Elf Town was full and people would PK you as you emerged from the tunnel.

Remember when all the DE farmers/bots wore that dark red armour (Manticore?)

Remember when you could make millions selling the wish potions. Man I did that quest at least 100+ times. I got my buddy and me all pimped out in D gear which was what most people were wearing at the time.

Remember when Teon came online and it was a farmers market. Man I got some good farmer/bot kills as everyone was low level.
