I really want to rant here but, I will keep it as nice as possible.
1. greater healing potions as an event reward- I personally never use them so they are useless to me.
2. buff pots - you can get 1hr buffs from the newbie buffer til like 61 there are several areas that drop buff pots while you hunt anyway. So again these buff pots are useless unless its like empower. And why have they never come up with a Vampiric Rage 1hr buff pot that would be nice.
3. This game is xp intensive when I log on to play I want to xp not stand around killing mobs that give you greater healing potions because I am not xping and the 10% bonus for not xping and killing event things ends up wasting more xp by not hunting mobs to get a bonus that doesnt really help because u spent time killing non xp mobs.
I vote for the cream puff event that gave you xp boost while you hunt now that was awesome.
One of the big problems with this game is people that have been here shorter than the long term l2 players cannot compete with them because of the huge Level curve in this game.
Events like the Creampuff event only lead to people getting higher level in this game.
Increasing the level of more people ='s a bigger community for pvp that's fun.
I say let's help the lowbies get higher with some good xp events.
why not just start using those healing potions, or, be in party with someone who might, let it be finders keepers, and you don't pick them up, and let them get those things you find useless, while keeping your nice rewards for yourself.
as for buff pots, single buff pots like might and haste are nice, especially if you don't get them normally from a friendly buffer, or self buffs.
might is not one of the newbie buffs, but haste is, though haste is not as common for later game buffers, only pp and wc get it.
i personally wish they were buff cocktails instead, they say they are a reward, but i haven't seen any yet.
i just wish the heal potions were stackable with the regular versions...

I think its pretty clear so far that the cocktails/vitality rewards will probably be a one time reward of like 1 vita pop form the event npc on the 6/10/14th day.

I am a Nuker therefore I duo with my SE... Nukers dont get mele parties =)
Honestly I just miss the Old events they used to have back in c1 and c2 Where there was mobs and raid boss's spawned all over the place and everyone used to race for them. got tons of enchants and pvp while ppl raced to get the rewards. That was fun.
I got the Eva's Circlet thing... It's Zerk 2... last 20 minutes and has a 60 minute recast timer. My prophet can over-buff it with regular Zerk 2.
So fail. Lyzira you did a good job at promoting this event, you got a lot of people ready and excited for it, including me, and you are doing a decent job at disseminating information about the event. But this is the last time I will let you get me excited for an upcoming event to have it suck as bad as this one. Total waste of my time to even open those seeds. Takes up my inventory and gives me crap as a reward.
People request unique events because they want something... When you boil all the fat away from everyone's fluff, that's what their point. They want gear, enchants, vitality... Thanks for the Zerk 2 and loads of GHP I'll never use. I appreciate all the man hours the company wasted making this event.
If there is someone who thinks, that with the Vitality and some events rewards, like pots, buffs, scrolls will make something in this game(i.e. 81lvl+,Adena) i suggest him/her,to quit this game,as soon as possible.
Stop worship Vitality,Herbs,Pots, and play the game properly.
I am so disappointed with this event, I was hoping it would be for us to get higher lvls with a good chance with Vit pots dropping or the 30xp drops :(. I feel like NCSoft has opportunities to help us lvl quicker so we can compete with the higher lvl toons or clans that want us to pvp with them. But some how we are not able to catch up to those botters. Good game NCSoft.. we are always hoping for the best. Please listen to your audience like Blizzard does with there players.
I can link several threads on the Blizzard forums where the players get totally ignored by the devs (some players get forum banned, have their accounts banned, posts deleted, threads locked, etc.).
Stop trying to use Blizzard as an example. What you describe happens everywhere, but we all know how strong selective amnesia is.
It's nobody's fault you waited until 2008 to play this game. You started too late. Deal with it and go level up, instead of complaining on the forums about that.
You will never compete with those players unless they quit and let you "catch up" (including farming the epics they have on lockdown, and those top XP spots, etc.). Good luck with that. Vitality will not help you, much.
play the game properly ??? Dream on... the only way to achieve these high lvls that your talking about would be to be in your buddie's CLicks that dont have a life and play all the time, or Bot your way up to the top, belive me I was in TOP Clans that ruled servers for a long time and to see them bot to lvl 85 was crazy while I was left to try to find groups on my own.. LOL Dream on about playing the game properly>>>>
This game is not hardcore. It is just filled with time and adena sinks. The leveling process is a timesink. It's doesn't even challenge you the way other games to. **** and slash, for the most part.
Wish it had items u got to keep that ment something after the event was over.... like the circlet being able to be kepted after even if teh buff was taken away.I think events where u get to keep the rewards and they mean something long after the event is over is a key to the fun rather than momentary items that are short lived :(
Your right about the **** and Slash part, and the Adena Sink and time sink. That is true.. Its just sad when you have Heros asking for any nobles that want to do OLY and no one shows up. They have there lvls and the rest of the server is lagging behind to bad to sad.
This game is dying... One of the reasons for that is the same points you brought up. The time-sink and the adena-sink. It's so hard to compete with people but one of the ways of competing is by leveling. You have to consider the fact that if you're getting vitality herbs so are they, so how much are you really "catching up" but people crave progress in this game. Many people have been playing 5 years or more and want badly to be able to reach end-game. It's difficult to do so when you're held down constantly by 2 forces:
1) The controlling clan of the server -- everyone's down to about 1 major clan per server since populations are dwindling, and
2) The company by wasting our time with crap events that have the potential to be so much more...
People feel good about themselves when they feel accomplished. One way to give them that feeling, whether it be by illusion or reality, is to help them level. I don't think anyone is asking for a Vita-Pops to be available in the town store. People just want some leveling events! One's that don't give you Zerk2 for 20 minutes every hour! LOL
i think even if the seeds were not tradeable we still wouldn't have the man power to reach target. idk what nc soft was thinking imo we don't have the player base to reach target, i honestly think bots wouldn't stop just to crack open a few seeds lol so it would still fail.
an anyways whats the player base as of today i know on one of my anniversary games one said over 3 million, haha pretty sure its less who knows.

The carebearism I refer to is the fact that the answer to every problem being "Revita Pops!" or "More Vitality."
More vitality will not help those players compete, or whatever they feel the need to do. Level is only part of what you need to thoroughly enjoy what this game has to offer. Being level 80+ doesn't equate to being an end-game player.
In most cases, these responses come from people who really don't have the playtimes to think about progressing in this game at a decent pace, anyways. This game is a time sink. If they think they're going to be competitive with 3 hours a day [playtime], with or without vitality pops, they are in Neverland.
Once you get to S Grade, Revita Pops cease to matter as much as they did before. Vitality 4 to 0 is about an hour of constant leveling. You'll prolly get like 30-35% of 76 off of 5 Revita Pops, and that's about 10% or less of 78. It's not the answer.
If NCSoft wants to make it easier for players to catch up, the only logical way to do that is to significantly decrease the length of the levels (1-79). If they did this, it would allow lower level players to catch up to [many of] the "end-gamers" in levels without giving the same benefits to those end-gamers as well...
High End players will get the same rewards as a casual (same amount of Revita Pops or Vitality) and have better gear and parties to outlevel those players even more. They will still farm all the epics. They will still lock down all the best XP spots. They will still have better armor/jewels than everyone else. They will still have better skill OE than everyone. You will just help them cap their toons out faster by implementing mechanisms for them to XP faster, when they already have a significant leveling advantage over the rest of the server.
Dishing out Vitality and Revita Pops will have opposite consequences. Those posters aren't thinking. The Cream Puff event proved that.
Inviting buffbots to parties to make it even harder for people to level just so you can have better OOP buffers.
I would just simply leave the party.
Trust me, there will be times when they need you and your OOP buffers (that you never try to push into you XP groups) and you will be quite content soloing with them while they sit in town looking for people on the empty party matching window.
Nobody cares how many levels your buffpet needs to be effective for you when you're out soloing or whatever. When you're in a party, the only thing I care about is what we need and what we have.
When we have live buffers/healers, than you buffers have to go. Sorry, we don't need them. End of story.
Feel free to buff/recharge with them from OOP to save party MP (if possible), but they are not getting in this party.
Obviously you fail at reading. That post was about people who go into parties expecting the group to XP their boxed buffers - something I -obviously- don't agree with (people who post here, and know me in game, can vouch for that).
Nice try (and failure), though!
What relation does this have with what I wrote in that post above yours? Nothing? Ah... How typical of you...

Be more stupid, it was a question... wow arrogant and yet more arrogant...

Sure dont expect bots stop game to kill spirits ah ah ah :D and with a so low drop rate we never reach target...

You know one thing though bro giving a couple revita pop's out in an event make people warm and fuzzy. Thats what events are supposed to do.
Your more interested in being right than pleasing the masses.
Last night after the hotfix i got in 3 hours of play 34 event items, today i logged in and in 2 hours i got 1 event item....
is this just with me or its happening to more ppl?

In events past they made peak times 6pm-9pm cst higher drop rates, but not sure if this applies to this event. That was for the squash event two years ago.
LOL here we go again. Servers going down for something for an hour.
Yup. They realized, despite what the "you are all carebears" clowns here on the forum say, this event simply does not work on the NA servers as it was designed for the Korean servers. We players here simply have a different playstyle, everybody is out to maximize his personal profit and we also have simply too many botters/farmers hoarding the event drops instead of using them. The server are SUPPOSED to reach the eva's bonus EVERY day, but it simply does not work that way here.

I agree with you. I dought we ever could anyway when seeds are dropping at a rate of about 2 per hour. So Maybe they will change it, lets hope so anyway. If not nothing will change tell next week.
NCSoft: During maintenance, we will be making a change to the Eva's Inferno event that will adjust the number of spirits required to achieve the daily blessings.

it was actually designed for the NA servers, this event never run in Korea ;)

But it was designed by Korean devs who probably have no clue about the reality on these servers. They just see "oh soandsomany thousand players are online, they should easily collect and use x seeds per day!"

You're more interested in pleasing the masses than reading, it seems.
Has nothing to do with being right. Why are people still using this forum troll tactic. What I said was correct in the context of those posts (a convo I wasn't having with you, so maybe you didn't get it). Giving Free Serverwide XP will not remedy the issues that killed this game.
Revita Pops were given out some time ago to "please the masses," and now NCSoft has to listen to them asking for more PowerLeveling whenever something doesn't go their way.

Okay Tren, If vitality pops don't really matter like you say, why the objection to them? According to your post here, once you reach level 78 vitality pops matter little, so by that logic, at level 82-84 they wouldn't matter at all. So who does it hurt to give them out in game? You obviously know levels by themselves don't equate to much, you said that clearly in this post. End-game players are only created when you can combine the player levels, highly enchanted skills, superior armor, fully elemented gear, and carefully stacked buffs, right?
I, for one, like the vitality pops. Sure they're not as useful as they used to be, but for a little bit of time, they take a bit of the edge off the game for people like myself that don't generate vitality. I loved the creampuff event because for one week I was able to skip through a few levels of tedium and get my new character within the ranges of my fellow clanmates. This allowed me to participate in high level raids and to do the hero rifts with the rest of the guys. It bridged ALOT of the level gaps in our clan and made for a more enjoyable experience for all. Level 81-84 characters will benefit from events like that, but only by a small percentage compared to their lower level counterparts. So what if they're able to get 50% more into a level than they normally would? It's not like they don't already dominate the servers.
As far as NCSoft reducing the XP needed for levels 1-79, now that's carebear. You really don't want people shooting through this game at breakneck speed or else the armor and weapon grades become worthless. You remember what happened when people were able to go from 1-40 in almost no time. D-grade completely lost it's meaning. We don't want to render the rest of the game obsolete by reducing the XP. Throwing people an XP bone every quarter or even every month won't destabilize the game or benefit any one group more than the other in my opinion.
So the fire/explosive fire seeds have these rewards
Greater Healing Potions
Quick Healing Potions
Brez
Bsoe
Rune packs (1 gives 20 minutes of zerk 2 every hour (LOL) and the other gives 10% hp and 20% skill reuse bonus for 5 hours)
Various buff potions
a few other rune packs im sure equaly worthless. Anyway, it seems very obvious the vitality pots are a one time reward from the event manager on a certain day or day(s). My guess would be some days are buff cocktails, probably the last day will be 1-5 vit potions. Overall idk I hate the mob event drops, I would frankly rather get nothing from them and have them just progress the bar so everyone just uses them up. It would be better for almost everyone. You can really see how bad the packages are when not one buy shop is setup for them as no one wants them.

Don't worry im sure on the special days the farmers will come out of the wood work to sell thier seeds.

They already have newbie buffs at lower levels, and Vitality 4 to 0 lasts longer in A Grade [and below] than in S Grade. Revita Pops are not needed below S Grade. It's already fast enough to level there. In S Grade, the Vitality scales down, and Revita Pops become much less effective. They aren't as useful for an S Grade character as for an A Grade Character.
Secondly, by dishing out Revita Pops to players who want to "level up to compete," you pretty much cancel the effect out by giving free XP to the people they complain about (the people who have left them "in the dust"). Seems pretty simple to me. Sometimes, the changes [or whatever you'd call it/them] must be "targetted."
I, for one, like the vitality pops.
Everyone likes free XP... That's why they cry so much for them since NCSoft gave them out.

Free XP is always helpful... Right?
I Played for the Cream Puff Event. It is not cool to allow people to level at 3x the speed for weeks at a time. Sorry.
You're free to play a PServer, if you enjoy that.

OMGOSH they let the noobs and ppl cetch up to mister craby pants!Seems 100% of the talk on this event is lack of items and aurguments over ppl who are just suggesting maybe this or maybe that.

Hey i have an idea.....While ur suggesting for ppl to play on illegal sites why dont u add in WoW and other mmos too!Or why not suggest botting or cheating buying adena!I dont think anyone wants to join any private server just b/c one thing is missing or not right about a small event that really shouldnt make u day all that bad when u can focus on what u were doing before the event came out and what u will be doing after its gone.

Well, you said most of this in your first post but you didn't answer my question. If vitality pops or the creampuff event is a zero-sum game in your opinion, why the big fuss against it? You just restated that it doesn't even the playing field at all and it's of little or no use to people in S-grade. Based on these statements I would have to come to the conclusion that you don't like these types of events because it allows higher level toons to continue to be higher. This can't be your only objection because its based on the assumption that the vita pops or the cream puff event was given out to be some kind of equalizer. This was never the case and you know it. We're not asking for NCSoft to make an even playing field by having XP events. We ask because the grind in this game can be very tedious and boring. Like my grandmother says, "Even iron can be worn down." There's nothing wrong with NCSoft taking a little edge off every now and then.
Everyone likes free XP... That's why they cry so much for them since NCSoft gave them out.
When the creampuff event was active, I don't remember anyone giving me any free XP. I wish I could have found the NPC that was handing it out, because it would have saved me alot of grief. I do remember logging in for 9 hours every day to try to take full advantage of that boon that NCSoft was allowing us. I had to fight for leveling areas, and I had to really work hard to make the event pay off. By a show of hands, did anyone who didn't log in that week get any FREE xp?
Free XP is always helpful... Right?
I Played for the Cream Puff Event. It is not cool to allow people to level at 3x the speed for weeks at a time. Sorry.

There's that word, "FREE" again . Secondly, I hate when people try to make points by making statements that are purposefully over-inflated. The creampuff event was for one (1) week. Just one lousy week out of 5 years of grind. That one week didn't destroy the servers, it didn't make anyone heroes, it didn't allow once unheard of players in low level clans to run all of the old server powers out of their castles. All it did was cut some of the bite out of a timesink and made people that had given up on leveling for awhile get back out on the field.
I didn't say it wasn't carebear. I said it was the only logical way to allow lower players to progress faster while keeping end-game level progression the same.
Why would a company that's taking money from all players want to purposefully leave a group out of an event just because they happen to be a higher level? Do you have something against people that are 80+?
Revita Pops and Cream Puff event doesn't do that, and Revita Pops/Cream Puff doesn't do anything for players who may start playing the a day after the event is over (or after the items were handed out). Think a little.
And so what if people start after the event is over? People have been starting after EVERY event was over. I missed the gatekeeper event and the valentines day event. Pfffft big deal. I'll either catch it on a repeat or I'll be here for the next event. Just because everyone who may play L2 sometime in the future isn't on when they have a creampuff event or vita pops is not a rational argument to not do one.
There's too many of you going all forum warrior in this thread... I for one have worked in Online Community Management for years and I'm sorry Tren but you're wrong. I know you are very opinionated and you really do mean well when you believe something to be true but I have years of inside experience telling me opposite.
This game is having a retention problem because of the fact that people feel like they "can't catch up" or that they aren't able to level and compete. A lot of the events and stuff all serve one purpose -- to keep the people busy and happy. What people desperately want in this game is the ability to level. From what I've been reading they have offered more Vitality Events in Korea since that part of the game was added than they have here, and according to (I believe it was) Lyzira, that idea came from America for implimentation. L2 is still one of the leading games in their market, didn't seem to ruin it over there.
Everyone here is aware of the American demographic as well... I know from servicing it as well as living within it, that people want what they want -- and they want it 5 minutes ago. Right now this game needs to compete or the people will go somewhere else to get what they want.
This game used to have a thriving community and unfortunately it's lost quite a lot of key players. That's always bound to happen as the game ages and new games come around; however, there are things that can be done to combat it. If people are screaming for Vitality constantly it doesn't hurt to reward them every now and then. No one is asking for cream puffs to be added as permenant pot drops to the game, but another Vitality event wouldn't kill anyone. One of the previous posters made a valid point, people seem to be more focused on being right then pleasing the masses. Remember, without the masses there is no game.
Sorry for the miny rant, and I didn't proof read so excuse any errors -- Peace!
no man, its realy huge reward you should kill 5000 mob for 100 seeds and kill 100 seed-mob for bars and then u can recive a very usefull reward nontradeable scroll on Might it will be very usefull for mage classes, like power and critical juces what drops from event mobs. our creators do they best for your comfortable game enjoy.

Lots of ideas came from here, and the Koreans always get them long before we get them.
The only ideas they take from us are those that can benefit (or makes sense to) the Koreans.
Also, it's still not about being right.
I still haven't had anyone tell me how giving free vitality to everyone in the game is going to help those people "catch up" to anyone.
If it will not remedy this issue, then I don't see any reason to do it.
It will just make other players who come later have an even tougher time catching up because "they weren't here when we had those events."
So you want to have free XP/vitality events every 2-3 months to please the masses?
This game is a very bad example to use (or refer to) when it comes to "community," since there is very little left and 90% of the players are selfish and disingenuous to most of their fellow players.
A Vitality Event will not change any of the grievances that you've brought up.
The masses always want to level fast, even in WoW, AoC, EQ, EQ2, and Guild Wars they wouldn't mind leveling up faster. That means next to nothing.
Giving people what they want, whenever they ask for it, can make your job harder in the future. If they didn't do the Revita Pop/Vitality event, people would not be crying so much for more vitality. There are obvious downsides.
They are free to go through with the circular community relations failures, if they choose to do so. I just don't see it getting them anything but another furious round of threads the next time they botch an event, and people decide that they'd rather more Vitality instead.
I agree begging for more vitality during every event doesn't accomplish anything except for making the person complaining feel tlike they have been heard. Events do help to keep people playing the game. Anyone who has been around playing this game since atleast C3 can tell you they have had events where rewards were just amazing. Really in my opinion all the events in 2005 were great and the rewards were great. Since then however the rewards have been stedilly going down more and more. Now we are to the point where greater healing potions are the reward for an event. Whats next stems? If an event really added to the game other than just something else that drops from mobs while you are doing the same thing you do every day, then it might be decent no matter what the rewards were. But I dought very few people will participate in an event unless it's worth thier time and energy to do it. Personaly I think that translates to good rewards = mass participation. Otherwise people don't care and will complain, just look at the evidence from the last couple events.
THis event started with a nice list of rewards, but after the first day it was quickly realised there was little reward for doing the seeds. Now that the 6th day reward has been received it's even more evident that the good stuff is on the special days during special times and will be alot less than anyone expected. I would have been better if they had just come out and said that the xp and vitality rewards will only be rewarded during Eva's blessing periods. Would have saved alot of heart ache.
These vitality whores might catch up in level because of vitality, but I seriously doubt they will catch up in skill. It's not all about F2, F1, F2, F1, F2, F1, F2, F1, F2, F1, F2, F1, F2, F1, F2, F1, F2... try learning the skills that you get as you level. THAT is far more important than any amount of xp you get.
And just because your parents give you your bottle every time you whine, doesn't mean NC will, the earlier you learn to accept this the better of you will be in life.

sounds to me somebody is afraid of competitions and is trying hard to prevent new players from catching up to his hard-botted level edge.
yeah right, i agree L2 shouldn't be all about F1 F2 only. care to show us your setups on other wonderful magical 3rd party programs that made you such a legend?

This is the first time, in the 2.5 years I've been playing, that I've been accused of botting. I was beginning to feel left out. Now I truly feel like I belong. I'm all choked up, so emotional right now... just...uh...brb....

that guy accuses every1 except himself for botting... i bet even the townguards and fortress npc's are botted up in his opinion. antibot thinks he is the ONLY legit guy on all servers...
maybe it's a big help for legits to catch to those hero bots that hide in HB and pagan botting 24/7?
Catch in levels... maybe (and that's a big maybe).
Catch in adena, OE items, epics, augments, skills, OEd skills, influence... no (an equally big no).
I think it's pretty obvious not many players understand that level is not everything in L2.
There are other things as well and as Edge said, equal level does not mean much.
Have you just called Nya "hero bot"?
Of course not, I'm not the one calling others bots in this thread. I have no doubt Nyae is legit, but that's beyond the point of this thread.
The point is that vitality is an easy but false solution to the "catching up" thing. NCSoft opened a can of worms when they first put it as an event reward.
Vitality does let people "catch up"... sorta. Not individually, but by masses. Vitality lets masses reach S-grade faster, put elements on their gear, have some oly points to spend... and thus generally affect the server. Not dominate it, of course, but it's not that would be actually needed.
Vitality takes some of the grind out of the game and this is the best reason to have it. If you're tired of playing for 4 hours and only getting .01 XP and you'd rather see .04 XP for that time spent, that's what vitality is for. It cuts away from the timesink and maybe allows you to change the grade of your armor or weapons a little faster. It gets players back into the grind with renewed vigor. I have clanmates that log in now just to burn through their vitality and then they're done leveling for the day. A good vitality event will get more people to play the game.

Vitality, at endgame, is completely irrelevant ... except that birthday thing. Otherwise even a full vitality bar won't last past the second buffround.
Vitality is nice for lowbies and alt-obsessed people.

It is expected to be changed in Gracia Plus.
People who want vitality aren't dense. And the points I made earlier are being negated by others stating the polar opposite, which so far has not proven a point other than that they are opinionated. In reality none of you are fully aware of what would happen (myself included in that) because it's never been tried. You complain about exp but when someone has an idea to make it easier you attack it? I didn't say a Vitality event would serve one and only one purpose: helping people "catch up." I said people crave progress. And since this game's community is dwindling the progress they strive for is becoming harder and harder to attain for those who haven't already made the biggest steps.
People need to stop over-analyzing and realize this isn't the same game that it was 5 years ago. Everything about this game has changed (besides the very basics of course) and you can not continue to run it the same way.

There's no point in pushing people to s-grade just so their enemies in s80 can -still- one-shot them because the newbie's gear sucks. People need to a) be given the time and tools to get decent gear, b) be given the time and tools to learn how to play, and pvp with their class. If you don't have gear or skill levels are meaningless.

therefore (hero) bots and their cheater clans will rule the game till the end of time in L2. the end.
The vit events and the cream event actually help the newbies or avg players who dont spend more than 4 hours a day more than it help the hardcore or cheaters who play 24/7 and allow more players to be part of the pvp, regardless if they get one-shot by 8X people with the best gear, it would not make difference if they are 4x+ for a 8x guy with the best weapon in game if their class is OP, they will still get one-shot.
Get to s-grade it does help a lot regardless of skill or gear. Using just common a-grade armor you would be able to farm fast enough to get your s-grade weapon and armor, because of the drops and adena earn by killing mobs that are high lvl.
Its not like they get FREE exp, or that from one day to another they hit the 76 s-grade mark... its still going to take them time to reach that lvl, and the skill would actually depend if they are really good at rpg games, not base on how many years they play this game, and how much they love grinding...
Vit pots actually help the game a lot, giving them is a good idea, of course for hardcore players with box accounts or cheaters its crappy, why? because they hardly notice the grinding at all. They will consume the vit pot so fast that its like not-existent.

Have you actually done this?
I imagine someone could do it as long as you had access to buffs and a healer. But I imagine you might outlvl the grade your looking for before you could afford it.
Atleast that how it work with every other grade. Never have been able to earn enough adena just form hunting to outfit any of my toons.

I posted this on another thread but thought it would fit here as well:
Having a game where you can't get anywhere unless you started from day 1 is dumb. Players who start today will -never- catch up to day 1'ers, even with XP events 24/7/365. New players will -never- be "kings of the sever," but that's OK. As a new player myself, all I want to do is get into the same realm of existence as everyone else -- this means being able to participate in PvP events like castle sieges, RB fights, etc.
We all know the game doesnt "really" start until you get S-grade and helping new players get there slightly faster and cheaper is not a bad thing. S80 and beyond is still as hard, time consuming, and expensive as ever and just as rewarding to those day 1-ers who get there. Letting new players catch up faster does not and should not reduce the satisfaction you have for attaining your Dynasty gear. You will still be the king of the server, except now you may have more people worshipping you.
In short, XP events DO help. Of course, you can't have XP events without Adena/Equipment events too, like the Enchanting Event. They are both fun and necessary to ensuring that new players can, as I put it, "get into the same realm of existence" as everyone else.
Look at it this way -- without the vitality system, you would not have any new high-level players in this game, period. With it, plenty of new players are reaching lvl 76 and beyond and contributing to the PvP endgame.

I agree.
a lot of cheaters don't want competitons - they just wanna bot 24/7 and be able to pwn everyone else when they play live. and that's why they bot and how they ruin the pvp/siege parts of the L2 for most legit players.
high level bully (hero) bots and their cheater clans are way worse than lowbie farmers. SOME of them nowadays even dare to come here and make anti-vitality posts on offical forum.

that can of worms should be allowing people to bot to hero then brag about it on hero shout.
in L2, you need level FIRST then you can learn/oe skills and farm quest mobs for adena and better gears, especially S+ grades.

imo u need adena first at some point. when i hit lvl 52 back in c3 or c4 i wasnt able to afford any b-grade stuff (i used a crimson sword till lvl 48 and then a clean yaksa mace). so i started to care about the market, i sold all i had and started crafing/trading. after 8 weeks w/o xp i had enough adena to buy a +8 great sword/focus and a bw armor. with that equip i was finally able to gain money while exp'ing and dont just pay to be able to xp. there are still such points ig, not at lvl 52 anymore but later. so ppl have to care about adena before they reach that point.

nowadays they have shadow/common weapons and gears up to A grade. however new players don't have the legit population in game to find random exp party anymore like we did before c3/c4. and new legit players are bullied by those bots who think they own every (quest) hunting spots, ig, WoA, Varka Silenos, Baium.

Way to miscomprehend.
The argument is not whether XP events help people level faster to S Grade levels. It's whether XP events help people catch up to end-gamers.
The answer is No.
People always feel like they're catching up, then they come here talking about how xxx Nuker or xxx Dagger just killed them before they could see the damage appear in their combat window.
Most PvP games are like that. If you wait this late to get into the game, you are asuring yourself of lifetime deficiencies when it comes to PvP competitiveness - unless you use some artificial means of progression, of course.
Level walls and barriers to entry (for PvP competitiveness) are always moving... UP.
Levels are nice and all, but the way NCSoft has designed, balanced, and updated this game. They are becoming less and less important. You can be 80 but an end-gamer will still make you feel like you're level 52, because that's just how things work in this game.
It's like I always say. People cry about being 1 hit killed by daggers. Go ask how ++ are their skills and equipment and how much time they spent to achieve that before crying. Sometimes people cry for being rolled by a 9 ppl party while they are 20+. One thing is quantity, another thing is quality. Levels are quantity, experience and nice gear/skills/party mates/knownledge, are quality.
It would take some months or maybe events to get enough materials to craft your s-grade weapon and armor at 78, but its doable with common a-grade armor and weapon if you start at 6X, just a duo or a trio is enough for that.
By the time you hit 78 then you will have decent gear to go to better places, but you dont need a OE A weapon or S grade with elements to still get good drops and exp.
Vit would never help somebody catch up botters who play 24/7. But it would help people reach a decent level that even with common grade stuff can go kill mobs and still get decent exp and drops, so they can upgrade their stuff faster and go pvp other people, and get still one-shot by high lvl people with the best weapon in game, still they get some benefit to improve themselfs.
Vit pots help a lot the people below 76 mark, and helps little the people already 76+. Doesnt hurt the game, it makes the game more competitive, as it allows the people who dont play 24/7 a day to reach 76 faster, so they can faster upgrade their weapon and hopefully by 78+ they will have enough adena to either craft or buy their s-grade stuff.
You guys still like the hardcore thing of lineage 2, but botters destroy that concept long time ago.
There is really nothing wrong with giving vit pots in events if those pots are not tradable, we dont want farmers making profit of this.

Vit pots have a purpose and that purpose is not to catch up people who play 24/7 a day, neither people who play this game for too long.
The purpose is to allow people get to certain lvl fast , so from there they can upgrade faster their weapon and gear. Which is understandable and does help the game to move on. Its not like they are going to get from 1-76 in one night. They will still have to invest time lvling and using their new skills.
When you understand the difference from the two, you can see vit pots does help the avg players and helps the game overall.

Vit Pops don't help much against them.
Vit Pops will not allow you to catch up to players who level 24/7 unless the level in the worst spots in the game (maybe on blue mobs) in 9 man bot trains.
You have to be in some of the best spots in the game, solo with insane OOP support, or have a very efficient group setup - WITH high playtimes to out-XP a bot.
Playtimes > Revita Pops. It's pretty simple. People say if you have efficient groups, you can outXP a bot, but most people who need revita pops don't (those other people would go from Vit 4 to 0 in less than a buffround, so why bother with them?)
While you're popping Revita Pops to get your 100k XP for a few minutes at vit 4, they are getting 60k+ from each MOB kill in a high end XP zone - like they have been for months/years.
When you sleep for 6-8 hours that night, some random bot in Varka/Ketra/IoP/Chromatic got at least 10-12M * 6-8 XP while you were sleeping, then they're doing it while you/they work, wash the dishes, walk the dog, etc. There is no way to have a life and compete with a bot as a casual player, unless you have an end-game-zone constant party to level with for many hours a day. Why waste the time complaining about it?
There is a botted up 83 StSc on Bartz. It's probably only existed for a couple of chronicles. Do you think I want to compete with that? He did in < 1 year what took many other players 5 years of fairly active player. Thanks, but no thanks.
Gratz on getting to level 80. Only a couple/few epics, a fully attributed S80 set, a 300 Attribute Weapon (S80 weapon at least, on some servers), and some other stuff and you can be competitive! The bots will probably just charge all that to their Visa. How rich are you?
In many cases, the end-gamers have skills that you can't even get until you are 1-2 levels higher than they were when they got them!
Yep! Catching up!
Help is evident in results. They have already had the Revita pop crap, and you couldn't even get one high A Grade level off of 5 Revita Pops as an active player, much less an S Grade level. They hardly help, and spamming them to everyone on the server will not help the game, or those players who have this problem. It's an issue deeper than how fast someone can level...

By leveling faster, most of those people will actually have less adena by the time they get to those levels, meaning they will be higher level with worse gear than they generally have these days.
Do you see how that would be the case?
I don't call Lineage II hardcore. Players can be hardcore; games are hardly (never) hardcore.
Vitality isn't some wonderful addition to the game that "allows newbies to catch up (to long-term players)".
It was INTENDED to be that--but it simply cannot achieve that goal. Nothing can.
There were a group of us casual players 8-10 levels off the pace who have gotten a bunch of levels and are now 6-7 levels of the pace. Most of us in this category can't remotely be called 'new' players.
Basically, everyone was 76-78 and we were 67 and holding....now everyone is 79-82 and we're all at 75ish (and holding). If you want to argue that vitality 'helped' some of us--okay. I suppose.
The newbies (true new subscribers) are just screwed. Vitality rockets them to an adena gap that is truly daunting!
Essentially all of them skip any aspect of marketing, fishing, manor--these things take too much time--and jump on the internet for ebay-adena.
Unfortunately they grab A-grade stuff--run up to class change and discover? (drum roll please).....that experienced players have 9 BILLION adena worth of great gear and tons of experience at PvP and absolutely OWN the newbie.
In fact, the newbies aren't even CLOSE to injuring these established players.
So then the newbie quits. Total play time from subscription to frustration at lvl 76? I'm guessing 5-6 months tops.
Meh--newbies used to quit at lvl 55-57. Almost all of them. That's when grind used to get steeper and A-grade costs confronted the new player for the first time. It probably took most of them 6-8 months to get there. During the 6-8 months they participated in other game features and weren't "too far" behind many other players.
Today the newbie hits 70 in 3 months or less and the process for quitting is already underway and they don't know a ****ed thing about the game and have done nothing and accomplished nothing.
They have never even LOOKED at the manor, fishing, markets (except to buy their next glowie with ebay gold), they jump clans looking for handouts, they can't maneuver their toon and don't understand important features of the game, they've not seen 1/10th of the map......
Sure, you'll say "it's not fair to say that about ALL newbies!!!!", and you are correct. This isn't true of all new subscribers. But it's true of many, many of them--suckered into (or back?) to the game with a false promise of less grind and an illusion they can run up to end-game in no time and find themselves emersed in great PvP. Lol.
That just isn't going to happen for 99% of them.
By lvling faster, they will have access to places that have better drops/adena, meaning they can upgrade their stuff faster, ofcourse they will remain in either superior a-grade stuff or just common for some time. Giving up vit pots reduce the overall time you will have spend to get the adena you need to upgrade your stuff. I understand that is really hard for some people of this forum to grasp, because they either box or boat, so the vit pots are useless for them, since they are so use to power lvl themselfs.
By not lvling faster, it will actually take more time to upgrade their stuff, 2x or 3x times.
Vit pots are not design to catch up 24/7 people who either boat or have no life. Are design to help the avg player lvlup faster so he can faster upgrade their stuff, a lvl 76 in a-grade common will take less time to farm stuff that somebody lvling 1-70 3 times in a row, and thats my point, no box accounts, no OE expensive weapons, no etc stuff that can make your toon godly, the people who already have that, ofcourse it makes not diference to them, and I dont even expect them to understand the benefit of vit pots.
In oreder to comment on this debate I think we need to define what is "end" game; what exactly are people catching up to? Some may say this is owning castles, competing and winning in Olympiad or simply achieving S Grade status..what is your definition?
What is end game to you may not be for me. Vitality, and the events that increase or replenish vitality, serve different purposes for different people. This current event is allowing for me to level up support classes and/or 50ish toons that i would never have considered before knowing what the grind is to get a toon to 79.
We will never catch up to a bot; this is simply impossible regardless of any event. I do know that increased vitality has provided an opportunity to do things that otherwise I might not be doing. I personally believe that end game is what you make it.

Hope this made sense.

My opinion: at this point "end game" would have to include some idea that the player "has achieved levels and gear sufficient to let them experience top hunting zones, be a factor at seiges, participate in the Olympiad if they choose, AND to have the adena to keep up with significant "top" gear so they can be competitive...." By this I would mean that they have to have ALL of the above in place to be considered at 'end-game'.
I am not sure you can point to a single LEVEL that signifies end-game play. Some classes have different roles at 78 and others may need to be 80 or more before most other players agree it is an end-game toon. Likewise, L2 is horribly gear dependent....you either have at least some of it or you don't.
This is why I suggested a broad definition for 'end game'.
EndGame...
In most MMOs is the point where u start trying to meet higher goals. Some MMOs EG is the point where ur working on events to gain the best gear the game has to offer for ur class or classes!Other MMOs are just about the same basic events u been doing but at a harder rate.
Personally i think EG is when u get ur character to a certain lv or at the max and start doing the best adventuring with ur friends/clan/guild.
too many people are taking this way too seriously. before vitality came out, no one ever said anything about an increased experience event. if you wanted massive xp, you did raids.
vitality is good for higher levels, and it downright sucks for lower levels. now all you get are people crying that they don't have enough money to purchase their gear that they want/need and don't want to get common items (which i guess is like shopping at ragstock). i do like the extra experience that i get from vitality, but i am also realistic and know that i will never be able to compete with the bots and nerds that play this game 8-10 hours plus every day. casual players who cash in 2-3 hours a day will never be able to catch up to dorks that this is their life.
the thing i have found about events is that people will always find something to complain about. no vitality pots...i want free gear because i levelled too fast/i need to outfit my box(es)...i don't need potions/scrolls because i box...name your poison.
i play very casually and had a bad case of alt-itis for the last 5 years, but i am loving taking my time and enjoying the game. you need some serious therapy if you are taking this game for anything more than that---a game.
