Anyone know if there is a guide out there to take down this beast?

That depends if glitching it on the wall is an OK strategy.

Lol glitches work for me ;) i figure if NC Soft cant sow the earth back together properly why should i care if he gets stuck on a rock ^^. Now id also like guidance in the non glitchy manner too just incase it fails ^^

Drag creature to wall. Signal mages to begin pressing 1 while targeting the dragon. Dont forget to hold shift!

But that's all from 2005 resp. 2007. I don't know of any recent guide; in those days they needed 120~150 people to kill the beast.

99% of the Valakas killed these days are 2 parties texture bugging Valakas.

don't see why people need to do that, few days ago we killed it in 30min with 4 parties, valakas is even easier than antharas these days. Mainly because you cant bring high levels to antharas without gimping drops
