Exp weapon

Finished S-Grading my ghost sentinel sub, and now it's time to level the maestro again. But as every dorf knows (or should know at least), exping with basalt hammer = epic fail, so it's either forgotten blade or heaven's divider.
I can't make up my mind, which of the two is best? I'm not looking at aesthetics, the most importatnt is effectivity.

Thx.
an S grade weapon that you can put elements on....how is that epic fail?

+10 D grade Blunt at S grade would be an epic fail but not a basalt hammer.....
It's because of the zero critical rate, that all blunt weapons have.
That's why it's best to use 1h/2h sword, as you can still use fatal strike / armor crush while having a decent crit rate at the same time. The question is, which is best? Onehander or the twohander?

1 hander so you can still use a Shield. Your not a Destroyer. and it's not Zero Critical rate it's just dam low...:D
To quote an EE friend as I was helping her with a quest pre-damaging the mobs: "Stop critting, Dwarf!" ;)

I prefer to have the following three weapons on me:

* one-handed blunt
* pole
* bow

That way, I'm equipped for PvP and PvE as best as I can, and a good combination of reach and firepower (via golems). I could add a sword, but frankly I don't see much reason for it. If it comes to a fight, I want to be able to try and stunlock the other sucker.
to _Akjosch_ : I'm not saying that I'm going to crystalize my basalt and use a sword instead :D of course the weapon of choice is still my hammer.

All I want is to increase my dps as much as possible when grinding. If I grind solo I rely on herbs - don't need to stun mobs. If I exp in party - no point in stunning at all. That's where crits come in handy, why would I whack a mob 20x with a hammer, when I can whack it 14x thanks to crits with a sword - that's my point :P

Or you think the dps increase would be minimal?
HD is the best: better p.atack the same Crit rate as FB.

Well, at least it works FINE for me: 79-83 with my HD, crit rate is 300 which is amazing.

I have tested both bassalt and heaven't divider. for grinding the heaven's divider is extremely good, the downside is no stuns and you can't use a shield (not like a WS has any use of the shield other than it looks good :p)

Fatal strike and armor crush works with Heaven't Divider.
Yeah, I'll probably go with Heaven's Divider. It's a shame coz it means no shield (which looks AWESOME :)) But then again, the way a female dorfie groans when swinging a twohander, that's like the cutest thing ever :D
Well, my dear dwarfy friend it all reduces to the following:

== Weapon Accuracy ==
Type Modifier
--------------
Bow -3.75
Dagger -3.75
Pole -3.75
Sword 0
Blunt 4.75
Fist 4.75
Etc (spellbook) 4.75

== Weapon Critical Modifier ==
Type Modifier
-------------
Bow 120
Dagger 120
Pole 80
Sword 80
Blunt 40
Fist 40
Etc (spellbook) 40
Weaponless 40

As you can see, blunts have a low critical modifier (40 modifier ) whereas swords and poles have better critical modifier (80 modifier) and bows and dagger weapons - as everyone knows - have the higher critical modifier (120 modifier). That is why blunts do not crit as often as swords do. BUT, in the other hand, blunts have better accuracy (4.75 modifier) than swords (0 modifier).

I have a HK 7X and I've used blunts and swords and this is the conclusion I gain from own experience. With blunts, I do not miss hit on mobs or "rarely" miss on them. With swords, I love the crit hits on them, but it suxx when you miss couple back to back.

===> It all reduces to whether you want to miss some hits (using swords) or you dont want to miss/or rarely miss hits (using blunts). Both have their advantages and disadvantages. <====

Now, keep on mind that in the next update (Gracia Final plus) , DEX is going to play a very important role and the 'evasion' on the target is going to be a very important factor now.

Now, ask yourself, do you want to crit crit and fail hits or rather want to hit and dont miss or rarely miss a hit in a constant rate ???

Do you want my advise ???

My friend used to complain about the blunts crit rate all the time and since Swords base crit is 80sh and blunts/fists are 40sh you get your sub to 75 and ask for the +30 critical passive (at level 75-enhanced passives). It will make your blunt 70sh crit and with luck you get a nice 10+ crit from augments, you will have your blunt with the same crit base of a Sword.
My dwarf friend got his Nuker sub to 75 and got the +30 critical rate passive from his sub (since is a enhanced passive no matter what sub you got, you will get the same for the enhanced passives) and he got a nice augment of +17 critical. His critical attack rate from this Battle Assault hammer WITH NO BUFFS was 43 (weapon) + 30 (from sub) + 17 (augment) = 90 (base)

TADA!!! little better than a sword base critical rate.... I do not understand why you complaining.

==> I said stick to your Battle Assault hammer, get the +30 critical from sub, look for a nice crit augment from Life Stones and you will be done. Next update, DEX from targets vs your accuracy will do just great + your crit rate.

Enjoy your dwarf!!!!
Reflex it's not THAT good as a Sword anyway. You see, as I said I have 300 crit rate with HD vs what - 120 from the blunt?
Crit more = kill faster. So.... bassalt and 130 crit rate sucks vs HD and 300 crit rate.

If you want to exp faster = go HD. If you want to stay cool (look great) go ty bassalt hummer :/
,.. but you miss a lot too.... blunts have better accuracy than swords/2-hand swords. You indeed crit more with an HD, but you miss a lot too.

I guess try and see what works for you, that is all I can say. I tried HD on my dwarf and yes, the crit hit is just insane... but I have failed a lot too and I was not able to use hammer crush.
accurasy is very good, and THE hummer crush is useless... absolutely. I have epics + OE stun = still no use.
And I've never ever noticed that I missed a lot with HD... hm...strange...

two miss + 1 crit on the HD > 3 hits with bassalt non crit

and Fatal Strike is way more powerfull than hammer crush...not to mention that hammer crush lasts only 1-5 seconds (in extremely few occasions longer if you are lucky).

If you actually get a dps calculator out, crit rate > accuracy
If you actually get a dps calculator out, crit rate > accuracy

that's the point I was trying to make
It will make your blunt 70sh crit and with luck you get a nice 10+ crit from augments, you will have your blunt with the same crit base of a Sword.
no you will have 80 total crit which is completely different from 80 base crit because of the way crit buffs stack

i don't remember the exact numbers but i know at minimum a sword has double the DPS of a blunt fully buffed and even unbuffed you will still do more damage with the sword especially if you have AQ/baium or are a WS (sharp edge > spike)

as for if you should go 1 hander or 2 hander the 2 hander has about 10% more DPS so if all you care about is lvling fast than it is the way to go

Who said something about stunning mobs? It's for your daily dose of PvP, of course. :D

If I want to maximise my damage per second, it's bow + golem anyway. Less running, more damage-making, and I can reach those pesky buffers and nukers as well even when slowed or rooted ...

nice sig, btw )

I'm talking about dps when GRINDING, of course that basalt is best for PvP, but that's not my question here.
I disagree with the bow, coz you can't use skills :P

You mean you don't have fights when out grinding? :)

Try it out, really. In particular in places with rather dispersed mobs outside.
i got HD+3 focus (+30 crit augment) 150 holy and BBH+3 health (+20 crit augment) 150 fire.
and i can said BBH >>> HD (with full buffs DC79) coz of triggers.
warrior haste, blunt mastery (and warrior will for 81+) trigger more with a BBH than with the HD.
Akjosch, when I farm I want to FARM and not waste time with some PvP, do you understand me? I'm talking about grinding here, and therefore I concentrate on grinding ONLY.
I got a bow and it worked well for me in spots like Varka where mobs were spread, but now I grind in Silent valley / Pagan temple. In locations like these, there is hardly any use for a bow. Or at least I think.

Aghen:
No point in being concerned of trigger sub skill imo, it works for blunts as well as for any other weapons you use. I'm lvl 77 so I'll use calculations with my char, here's what calculator says on your weapon/buff setup:

Basalt
P.Atk. 1036
Accuracy 120
Critical 84
Atk. Spd. 699

HD
P.Atk. 1102
Accuracy 116
Critical 242
Atk. Spd. 599

You think that higher p.atk and almost 4x (FOUR TIMES) the critical rate of a blunt will not overcome lower attack speed and slightly lower accuracy? I'm not telling you that you are wrong or anything, it just doesn't seem plausible to me O_O

Another thing is, that using basalt is getting very expensive, because you may hit accurately and fast, but the amount of shots you burn is just insane, bcoz of the zero crit rate. I spend like 15kk on shots every 4 or 5 days with basalt and it's going to bankrupt me soon this way :D

I do understand you. Question is, do your enemies? :)
That's precisely the thing that is of no importance to me. I exp at times / locations where I am 100% safe. And by 100% I mean 100%.

+1 btw

not really coz, in 1 minute u'll hit more with a blunt than with a HD, so u'll trigger more.
when i solo at HB entrance, i prefer my BBH for 2 reason : ++HP and ++triggers. and believe me, i kill mobs faster with BBH than with HD !!

Ofc, u'll have to consider OE'ed skills too, that help a looooot (i forgot to talk about that...) and which buffs u have.

in your case, i think that HD is better coz pattack is around same, but better attack speed from BBH isn't better than better crit rate from HD.

it depends of where u hunt, but spoil are good to avoid bankrupt :D
If u spend less SSS,kill faster with HD than with BBH : HD is the good choice.
Perhaps if u OE your skills (and how u'll do it) u'll prefer to come to BBH back.
With my OE'ed skills, my choice is done.
(btw, i have HD coz of my titan sub...)
I think the Forgotten Blade is the best option..
You can still use fatal strike :) You get the same crit rate as an HD, but more attack speed which would mean your triggers will trigger more often.. The difference in patk is made up by the huge jump in attack speed.. Check l2calc and see the DPS between the two it's almost exactly the same plus you can use a shield
I carry a 1 handed blunt - 2 handed blunt and and a pole! Depends on whats happening and who I am with at the time! :D

that's a god point, but when I hunt with HD, I do this:
Armor crush, 1 hit w/o SS, 1 hit With SS, Fatal Strike. - Mob is killed.

it costs me around 4 SS per mob max. With self craft it's very cheap. And each mob gives me like 2-3k. So..at the end of the day, I have tons of blades to sell, books (around 1mil of adena) + I earn 5-9mil per day.
Can you manage the same with FB?
