All servers will be brought down for weekly maintenance at 8am PDT / 10am CDT / 11am EDT / 3pm GMT / 4pm BST on Tuesday, October 6th. Estimated downtime is approximately two hours.
Already done with the full check, twice, makes no difference. Was actually having this problem before the maintenance but the Check File actually worked that time.
So basically some fool messed with things they shouldn't have again and we'll spend a solid day or two waiting for a proper fix as is the bi-monthly norm around here.
You know, there's a **** good reason they decided to disable GG for Aion... take that as a hint for the rest of the games NC...
Error Code 610 sometimes, but it's the same thing that has happened in the past when somebody fools around with a GG update. Gameguard is not 'updating' and it just closes it out right away.
it's asking me to remove my firewall settings... talk about a pain in the but.
can we just remove gameguard from lineage 2? i mean it's working fine for AION without it right?
maybe a good computer restart will change this bothersome issue...
Error code = 610
gameguard failed to update... or update was canceled. something like that.
I also get error 610. Windows XP SP3. Had no issues playing just 12 hours ago before the update.
EDIT: I just deleted the GameGuard folder (as suggested by some technical support message) and ran a check but it did not re-download. I tried disabling firewall (actually before deleting the gg folder) to no avail.

i put myself into the DMZ on router... i removed fire wall from router...
i turned off fire wall on computer...
not using proxy server...
XP media center edition, servicepack 3.
still failing to update game guard.
so... must be something on your end, or maybe the Network provider...
i use comcast...
Error changed, no more webside pop and now i get a message of gamegard execution error, and the game asks me to send a .erl or something like that to gameguard support.
Nah Fidgit it's not likely to be your ISP. This very issue has occured in the past, and it's usually when they attempt to add something to GG and it fails to take properly.
It's very specifically a GG issue that has nothing to do with OS or ISP and everything to do with bad design.
What I find odd this time is that it was doing this before the downtime but a Check File fixed it, and now it doesn't.

After the file check, i could not log in. Went to the l2 folder to delete gamegard folder and i discovered that for some reason all the admin permissions on the folder was removed and i had no access to it. I rebooted the pc and the permissions returned.
After 4+ years of gameguard I would think that NCSoft has learned from there mistakes and would have removed it by now with the problems that it has caused. The benefits have not outweight the cost of running gameguard with Lineage 2 and for the love of god Aion does not come with it. It doesn't help agains automated players, doesn't help against exploits, so please tell me what it does help against and why we have this problem all the time? I have the 610 error for no reason when I'm dual boxing, when I'm running 1 clients or 3 clients. I get errors about failed to launch send the epl file in and more. So could you please explian why we go through this so frequently?
Word is that they are debating removing it in korea, but still have some kind of contract with gameguard. But we'll probably see how it works out.
at least they get gameguard updates regularly; i would say once per month and we (NCNA) have still the same old version since months/years ....
