legit are dying on this game ...
Dying is base mechanism of that game - you get exp, you die sometimes. You hunt enemies, you get hunted :)
I know what you mean, but is not so bad.
Even at Teon there is nice ally that every siege-able weekend try get some castle. We sometimes win, sometimes fail. We have many people 78 - 81 lvl made totally legit way.
So game is not dead - legit exists, at least now :cool:

I want to play lineage 2 and get into and active clan. Any advice?
Welcome and 'yes'--I do have some general advice. Take it for what it's worth.
1) Be nice to others. L2 is packaged as "pvp"--you won't be doing any for a long time and you really should understand the game before you choose to gain - karma. Don't attack anyone and be pleasant when chatting with others that you meet.
2) Don't get caught up in "stuff". There is a TON of information on gear (weapons, armors, jewelry, different grades of each, etc.). This can sort of suggest that cool gear is somehow mandatory to acquire. It's not going to be true for you for a LONG time. Until at least A-grade past level 61, the gear you use matters very little. If it 'works'--it's good enough.
3) Adena is the hurdle in L2--NOT leveling. Any fruitcake with time on their hands can level. It's automatic for goodness sakes. Getting gold in the game is MUCH more challenging and time consuming! Be frugal (cheap) with the adena you earn/have! Spend as little as you can. Learn "fishing" and learn "the Manor"--there are many threads here and fan sites that can help you learn those.
4) Be picky about clans. Basically I suggest that if you interact with nice folks--those nice folks are a reasonable bet if they invite you into their clan.
5) L2 is a SOCIAL and COOPERATIVE game. You'll do a lot of solo'ing at first just because remaining players don't spend much time in starter areas. But to continue and progress deeper into the game you'll need playing partners. Be nice!
6) You are WAY behind in learning about this 5 year old game. You will need to study, read, and commit some time to learning. This game is relatively complex. Just accept that there is a ton of content you do not know.
7) With learning, earning, leveling (and making mistakes)--the game is STILL supposed to be fun! Have fun. Laugh a lot. Explore the countryside. Take your time.

ignore this, as if you log out every time it says it, you'll find yourself level 20 by the end of march.
soul shots are very good... but if you don't ever use them, you won't see what you're missing, and won't waste all of your adena buying them...
so when you get soul shots from newbie guide... i suggest you delete them, and or sell them if you can.

Or instead of listening to this above quote on the shots advice you can use up all those free shots which will get ya into your 30's real easily with the Kamaloka parties in game. Also learn to grind without shots. This way if you run out while in party you can stay and keep going and making money if you have a great group going. When parties over then go restock back up. Cut's down on the downtime of grinding.
