What do you guys think? Lineage 2 is a 5 year old game that's currently being eclipsed by NCSoft's current baby, Aion. In order to get more people to jump into the US and Euro market and breath some new life into L2, would a price change be a decent start?
Nope. Won't help any. Best keep what income they have. If Price is a Problem for people they would just go play some free game any way.
I don't really think that price is a problem per se, but sometimes the prospect of entering an aged game can be unattractive because the community is old and advanced as far as levels are concerned. Maybe lowering the prices would offer more incentive for newbies to enter the game.
Losers that ebay don't have to worry about what they pay..
quite often a number of the losers already have 3+ active accounts they pay for and increase int even by a factor of 2x will do nothing to them as they have already an unprecidented amount of funds to blow. You'd just end up alienated a good number of other people.
I vote for a free download + 1 month free, only this could bring more ppl prolly and not change the current support situation (can't be much worse than that :P) Though actions for abusing this should be thought over as well.

Actually, stopping the abuse should be fairly simple. Require a credit card validation in order to sign up and get key. You won't be charged, but you have to have a credit card in order to get the key. Then only allow one key per credit card.

30 day free game time...we used to have 7-14 day trials that I don't see anymore since it was abused by farmers to spam adena advertisment and to farm adena (until they made restrictions to dropping items, selling items from those chars).

You're always going to have people to abuse the system, I don't care what precautions you take. I know people that haven't paid taxes in 10 years and that's supposed to come directly from their check :).
As far as the free download, I guess you get that through the referral program, right? Because you can't get a serial code key any other way that I know of. That in itself is prohibitive to new game players.
And why not a free month with the current character restrictions. Sometimes 2 weeks isn't enough time to see if it's something you really want to do. Give a person a chance to dig in and get invested in their characters.
You can't change subscription cost, they 'd have to come up with lineage 2 specific timecards to reflect the new price and that won't happen it would cost too much. Current NCsoft timecards can be used on any Ncsoft game ie all games have the same fee per month
l2 is dying not because of the age. double the price but remove the bots and see it revived
i would agree with you if all high toons with 5/5 that used to bot or had botgroups were removed too...
but if they stay ,they wont even have any reason to bot any more...got top lvl got top gear
it would be only unfair for those who will play legit and will never be able to make bilions and win they 83+ ones in this century
the way to fix this mess and make people to believe they will be able to play on my opinion is
- make services like korea/russia,,free game to play and pay for more vitality/xp, ,even buy adena(if players want to lvl without services they would still be able to do it,but players that used to pay for accounts they could pay for vit or buy an item,this would make farmers and botters useless)
-i would keep the raid bosses and their drops in game but i would like donation for all epics/s80 84 stuff
this way the clans that farm these bosses to sell stuff for real money , wont have reason to farm them anymore...only the good clans that support their clannies will continue to battle for bosses and play for the fun of gaming not to make incomes of gaming.
i know people will say l2 was ment to be hardcore game how you dare to ask for such nscoft services

I vote - no - for the ability to officially purchase ingame items with real money, if u want that go to free servers/russia servers etc....they got tons of that there, at least there is a chance here that ppl can get banned for that. Not that many do but still... would make the game different...and I wouldn't like it :P May be legalize drugs too so we can be high all the time and play live CS on the streets?

Free download as in go to Fileplanet or some other site that has the client available for you to download, you still need to get the serial to create a L2 account, but the game client is free.

Price isn't the problem when it comes to attracting new players, it's simply the fact that 95% of the planet have absolutely no clue this game even exists. Hell, before a friend showed me this game, i had never even heard of the Lineage series.
Advertising is the key here. To drum up interest, people need to know what the hell lineage 2 is first...
I have to agree with others that the price change wouldn't get a lot of new people coming to L2. It is the lack of advertising and other stuff. I've never seen an ad for our L2 anywhere.
A lower monthly fee would be nice... I'm not sure what's done with the support part of the current one. The exceptions being Lyzira and a few of the GMs that are helpful and do a great job. If support was overall on top of things, I'm sure a lot of people would come back to L2.

Price doesn't matter. What you said is a factor, and it's actually a show stopper when people realize that catching up legitimately can or will take many months - years of "work."
