On the occasion of an incident I would like to share my thoughts with you. Plz pay some attention to below words...
First of all let me start with the story. A friend of mine had to call me for a long time. This guy has been affected from the online gaming (lineage 2). When i call him in order to check if he is okay, he told me that he has planned to change his life dramatically. He had a lot of bad incidents( he had lose his friends, accident, etc...) to his real life and he decided to stop playing. Why? Becuase the online gaming had covered the 90% of his life. Finally the result of this story is very good because he has start his life from the very beggining.
I believe that players like my friend would never pay attention to the message "bla bla bla... please consider taking a break..."
And now i am asking: why should someone let a game to control his life with such way???

What i have to say is: Keep your real life active as much as possible, RL > VL

Like anyone who plays lineage 2 10+ hours a day,doesn't realise the situation...
Personally If a friend wants me to go out with him/her(:P)
I leave xp/siege/rb/rift/anything,and go.
unfortunately...
NCsoft doesn't take this serious, or else they wouldn't spam that "consider taking a break" message every half hour. it loses meaning.
if NCsoft would wait 2 hours, then spam that message, then people would consider it more so. also, private store mode... should void the message.
so you really only get it for grinding...
maybe NCsoft should introduce an hour long D-buff which goes off if you play for more than 3 hours in a row... the debuff counts down regardless, and actually stopps you from logging in or doing anything in game including chat...
then people would be forced to take a break.
go outside... relax, smoke a cigarette, find a girlfriend, or boy friend if you're into that... and make out...
the time will come.
when you are ready to take that message seriously.
as for now, it's too easy to just flat out ignore it.
But also it is sad when my clan do something fun and i must usally log off because work, family, kid etc.
I agre with you but your work i think is more important than your clan activities... isn't ???

after 1 hour : take a break bla bla in system message
after 2 hour, a message in center of your screen that will annoy you a little
after 3 hour both messages
after 4 hour, a warning disconnection message that let you 5 mins to go in peace zone.
this count down should only start when you leave peace zone and reset each time you enter in peace zone.
most of the time when players go in peace zone, they make some break before restock.
My clan had a firm rule 'Real Life is more important than L2'. If something came up in RL, we would just type RL>L2 and that would be very sufficient reason to log off and take care of it.
On the other hand, ppl wouldn't get so into L2 if it didn't fulfill some needs in their lives. Perhaps it is the sense of accomplishment that (legit) players get from the game progression. Perhaps others get a feeling of self-worth from pvp and others get valuable social interactions (some players are confined to sick beds, etc. so they cannot get out like the rest of us).
I agree that L2 must be managed as a part of life and could be harmful if overindulged. But the same is true for most other parts of life, whether its sex or drinking or running or studying or watching TV or playing poker...moderation in everything.
So if you 're sitting at home watching TV 20 hours a day TV stations should flash messages every 30 minutes telling you to g t f o the couch and go socialize?
People make their own choices, if people are dumb enough to sacrifice their real lives for a game/tv/whatever it's their lousy choice and they should go seek help.

lol I've just imagined an old 90 y.o. woman getting the message in front of her TV and saying: "WTF?"
If you are that addicted to video games, all that a 4 hour allowable playtime would do is cause the person to play multiple games. It would not help them go out and do something else. Besides to alot of people, hanging with their in game friends is more then they have IRL. That is probably one of the reasons why they are addicted in the first place.
Good to see your friend noticed that he/she needed help and is trying to get back out to hanging with friends. But I think there is nothing worse then a company/government trying to enforce what a person does with their free time.

So instead of giving the person the freedom to piss away HIS life on a game, you want the company to force him to do something he doesn't want to do. Awsome way to force your way of life on some one else. Heres an idea, live your own life and stay the F out of others.

Obviously you have never w8ed for baium to spawn for your quest! 4 hours are just too low! In hellbound in tullys a quest ask u to be online from 6 to ++ hour just to make it! and the spawn window of epic Rbs, orders clans to have pvp teams and high clan activity for almost 12 hours or more!
This game was created for korean standars! If u want to go out noone holds a gun and forces u to play and NCsoft couldn't and shouldn't do anything to tell you you are tired go away!
You and everybody that has access to this game is responsible for himself!
I know people who hate their real life (wrong or not that doesn't count and i am noone to judge), and cause of the social part that this game gives them, they got an exit point for some of their problems!
Play as much as the game make u feel happy about it but dont judge others for their actions (even if these actions are wrong) if he is a friend and has stuck in with the game take him and go out to have some fun thats the best u and all of us can do!

L2 is a drug just like any other addictive activity and must be treated as such. We all enjoy things that would harm us if we have too much of them.
It's not up to NC to enforce anything, it's for each player to realize what is happening and to set their life priorities correctly and know when to say when. But if someone does have a compulsive/addictive personality they need to realize it and enforce breaks on themselves or quit or scale back, because gaming can be just as addictive as any drug.

its like with drug addicted ppl. first step is that THEY want to stop. w/o that step u cant do anything. there are laws which say: no drugs. does that help? no.
in german casino u can ban yourself. means that those ppl who recognize that they became addicted are able to bann theirselves from entering the casino (for 1 week, 1 month, 1 year). if they appear at entrance, they wont get permission to enter. maybe that would work with game addicted ppl too.
but i think most ppl arent addicted like your friend. sure, some cancel RL things to take part in raids, sieges, pvp, but thats 100% ok. if your hobby is soccer and some friends call u and ask if u wanna have dinner or go out with them, many ppl would decline, when there is a important match in tv/stadium to which u are looking forward since days/weeks.
hobbies take time. hobbies interfere with RL. Lineage II is a hobby. thats it.

in my clan we have had atleast 5-6 couples that are now married with children. they met in game. one left from Sweden to move to the US to get married with the person they met in game.

No man i didnt realize that from this 1 pair.... But this case was the most resounding paradigm that i have ever heared and as you can see (if u check the posts of RumPunch Vivisector242 and Rohirrimhas) i m not the only one who knows such cases...
The 2% is something like safe gap. Mathematically speaking this probability should be 1%.

I would really dislike such a thing. You can both have a life and happen to be online 4hrs+ from time to time.
People should also be free to waste their life, as well as to take the most of it. People shouldn't need a message to take a break and be reasonable, but they also shouldn't be forced to be reasonable...
It's up to everyone to put RL over VL and vice versa. L2 is not a mommy or a psychiatrist ; if a player has a real addiction problem, there should be friends/parents/family/teachers and so on to help that player.

Yea, ofc when you stay inside your home playing L2 it is obvious that you will keep your pocket happy.... But think a little bit about it... You stay in you home (playing L2) 1 day 2 days 3 days and go on.... On some x (depending on how much prone are you) day, you will be an antisocial person who cannot communicate with no one else except people who are playing L2 becuase the interests of your life have been changed...

Of course "do everything with measure" but let everyone decide for himself when it's enough. I didn't said never go out of your home ever! But I like to play as long as I want to. Maybe today I feel like playing for 6 hours, and the next two days i don't have time to do it at all, but it's my time. If someone has a problem with how much "too much" means he needs a different kind of help.
But for some people the game is better then real life

Notw - I don't consider the divorce to be bad thing. Actually it is quite often the best thing that can happen to someone.
I use the game for what it was created for entertainment...in the rw my work is demanding.......I use the game as a safe harbor........a place where i can wander around......I can play at any level I feel like set up a store....go on a quest...chat with friends......etc...when friends call me to go shopping I am there...the game can wait...and I mange to go clubbin lost...due to the fact most the people I play with are EST I am in Calif so i can play with them, and still get out to dance.....9 PM my time is midnight theirs...so this game suits my needs...I play the game.l...it does not dominate my life

That is the same as asking the Tobacco Companies to stop smokers that are smoking too much. Give me a break already. NCSoft will not make more or stronger warnings about playing too much, are you serious? (LOL).
Let's all try to be adults (young adults where applicable) about this topic. The more you play, the more you will continue to play... look up the word addiction. The company is making money off your addiction, why would they try to reduce your game play time? Most major corporations succeed by providing "users" with their "drug" of choice. The plain truth is that our drug of choice just so happens to be Lineage2. Deal with it and stop trying to psychoanalyze it.
